  • Makes Creedence Clearwater Revival sound like imitative white boys. lol

  • Easily one to the best Blues songs I've ever heard. Great layers, sound and timing with each instruments notes distinctly heard, yet creating a great harmony. The harmonica gives me chills, and his singing voice and intonations are killer!

  • this is what the Blues is all about!

  • Pure human emotion on the front porch. No pretensions here.

  • Great number!!....get down an' groove, love that harp ;<))

  • Great guitar work by Jesse Ed and Ry Cooder

  • The tune's in B flat. Taj plays an E flat AND a B flat harp in this tune. He was educated at Carnegie Music Academy in New York City and knows more about music than you do about your own two feet~!! Included in his natural talent, shown brightly in the movie called "Sounder" with Mississippi John Hurt & Cicely Tyson, is an EDUCATED dude. Check out his old movie for a great taste of Taj Mahal as an ACTOR!!

  • @byteontheez Was you talkin to me about him knowin more about music than i know about my feet? If your talkin about my comment i was tryin to say do the tune in whatever key you feel comfortable with. I transpose a lot of stuff and not always cuz of vocal range. sometimes i just feel a song in a different key than its performed in. I was trying to tell that guy that it dont matter what key its in, just play by ear til you get the basics, the roots of the song then improvise and make it your own

  • does anyone know what key this is in?

  • @JackTaylorLive whatever key the singer can do

  • a fantastic occasion to remember Jesse Ed Davis, RIP.

    thanxs

  • funk, soul, blues, rock....this is everything, man. this is it.

  • Love ya for posting this... used to hear Taj back in the late 60's in NYC and Newport Folk Festivals. ....just love his soulful harp!

  • What a SICK jam

  • Such a good jam.

  • Taj, a UMass school of Agriculture grad.

  • awesome

  • this song gives me chills. one of the best blues songs ever imo.

  • This one awesome tune 10/10....Peace..Jake

  • Great. Without doubt

  • super sweet

  • well, you either got it or you don't. taj got it, baby.

  • Taj Mahal makes the most perfect music in the business.

  • Love the way he says, "sloppy drunk" so cool.

  • the sound on this is better, but you MUST watch the version from the Rock and Roll Circus (6.15mins). It's brilliant

  • Totally agree, thats why I bought the album

  • YUP, The circus version is great! Good to see him with Jesse

  • @panthercap see him live! you will walk away stunned for days.

  • @panthercap Nothing beats the Rock 'n Roll Circus, it's a life changing experience! More people of my age should watch it.

  • @themanitasdeplomo Good on you dude. Gave me a perfect excuse to watch it again. I love Taj's groin-grinding swagger and the totally spaced-out look on Jessie Ed Davis' face. "Come on there, Mr Davis!"

  • @panthercap do you have a link for that version for YOutube Panthercap??

  • @dmholmes1 I think the b------s have taken it down! It was here with a time of 6.51, but now it seems to have gone. You may have to get the DVD of Rock and Roll Circus. Mostly a lot Jagger pouting and preening, but Taj's Leaving Trunk is superb. He is the epitome of raw sexy swagger, terrific singing and harp. Jesse Ed Davis on guitar - a bit spaced out, and not well mixed, but great riff and scratchy solo. Drum & bass are great too. Worth the price alone, but also great Lennon blues.

  • Thanks for posting the entire album. I hate people who just post like 2 songs.

  • i liked the other version that was posted but deleted for some reason but this one will do P

  • Fuck yea.
