Thanks for the comment - we've tried it quicker but felt that the detail dissapears - a classic problem with many Brass Band pieces - so we've kind of settled on this speed to keep it slick... would be interested to hear a faster version if you have one?
Totally! I played this about 8 years ago back in High School with the Jazz band and this was most definitely one of the memorable pieces out of all four years ago, thing is we played it fast, and I haven't found anything that's up to par with the tempo but this is too damn amazing I love your rendition guys, keep up the great work
My brass band plays this song. Except a lot faster and I stand when I play the bone solo. You do have to have a pretty good band to pull it off fast though. I have a recording on youtube but it's off a phone so not very good quality. I do find that English and Australian brass bands have different interpretations of things, especially pieces like this that don't typically have recordings. Well done anyway, your perc section is pretty rockin.
Not realli a very fast performance..Double the speed..It will be more exciting! We do! Pemberton Old Wigan JJB Brass Band...They have played it many times, opening a concert..With the standing also!
[: one of my fave pieces, always fun!
