Good interview. I think he missed that plenty of the X (Jay-Z) generation have aspirational tendencies that have been passed to them from predecessors, "sneaker culture" is only a movement that was an effect of a generation wanting to stand out from the past.

He reminds me of River Phoenix circa "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" days...
Glad he brought up being Thirtysomething and having nothing to show for it but bunch of sneakers....
