  • Are those blowers made by the Spencer Co.?

  • @tempetiger You should ask midmer455, Harry Bellangy, any tech questions about the organs.

  • i hope the restoration of this 2 organ have been playable in the future

  • I believe the musical selection is played by organist Tim Hoag.

  • How many organs does the Convention Center have? I only knew of the world-record holder.

  • @ChrisStockslager Two. The Kimball Organ resides in the Ballroom and has pipe galleries on either side of the stage. The organist is in an upper gallery about half the length of the room away. The Ballroom is the row of windows on the front of the building.

  • @ropeyarn Gotcha. I wonder why they didn't restore the Midmer-Losh organ, instead. I know it's more expensive, but it still would've been wonderful to have the old girl in full working order again. :)

  • The power-up of the blowers reminds me of the THX intros that used to come before movies in the 90s

  • The sound of those blowers alone is music to my ears!

  • Who's doing the resoration? Is the Garden State Theater Organ Society involved? I'm in Monmouth County, and I'd just love to hear the organ!

  • @Astraea52 As I understand it, acchos.org is specifically authorized by the NJ Sports And Exposition Authority to conduct the restoration of the Boardwalk Hall organs. Go to their home page and click on the Organ Tours button. At any given time some or none of the organs can be heard, but it can all be seen, and that alone takes a few hours.

  • @ropeyarn Thanks; might be a good trip down for the day, after the summer season is over.

  • After all of the dead notes are taken care of, and what is currently playable is tuned, we will then start to hear shades of what this beast can really do. It sounds like work there is progressing. It doesn't really matter at what rate it's progressing, as far as I'm concerned, as long as work is being done and progress is made. Looking forward to hearing more shortly...and possibly the stuff in the left side as well!!

  • The organ sounds so much better. I can tell they did a lot of work on restoring it. I know more needs 2 be done but this is an improvement if I may say so. Thanks 4 posting this.

  • @theenforcr55576 This track is actually off of the 1998 recording "The Auditorium Organ"...so this is how it was before it became unplayable for a time...it's all back up and running now, but unreliably as I understand. They are replacing all of the magnets in the organ so that some of the sporadic dead notes are taken care of. After that is completed, they are going to tune the Right Stage Chamber...after THAT, there will be a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the sound.

  • Sounds great but will sound even better after the organ is fully restored and 100% functional. Steps need to be taken to fully restore, maintain, and preserve this national treasure and landmark for generations to come.

  • Simply great !!!

  • I love the bass in the pedals from this. It is shaking my apartment. I probably need to turn it down since it is after midnight. :P

  • it sounds beautiful

  • hasnt it got 8 blowers

  • @Thedoctorsbiggestfan That sounds about right. You are listening to the three blowers for the right pipe gallery. There is also a left pipe gallery and two large side galleries. Boardwalk Hall is so large they built a smaller hall inside the main hall for entertainment events.
