  • Phun is a rather pathetic physics emulator, it works for some basic stuff, but not more complex stuff.

  • ESTUPIDO INVENTO.

  • Here is a real one . It use several rings . Because if you use only one . It changes the field after closing the ring .

    AND VERY EASY TO CREATE >>> : w w w (DOT)leviathan(DOT)free(DOT)bg

  • sure energy is added - the initial impulse is given - so it runs quite a while till the energy is converted into another form

  • Energy IS being added: the wheel keeps turning, and normally you need electricity or something (or wind, battery, steam). So here is the energy added.

  • A PM machine is a device which generates more energy than it uses.

  • You're right, but when that is the case, it means no energy should is needed to be added anymore, because it generates its own electricity. And here, the energy is still added.

  • This is no Perpetuum Mobile. A PM is a device which will always keep moving WITHOUT adding enery (and thus it does not exist)

That spinning wheel keeps spinning because of the energy in it.

    FAIL

  • NO. ENERGY. IS. EVER. ADDED

The spinning wheel is powered by ITSELF!

there's no motors, no extermal force. NOTHING

therefore, its a perpetual motion device. and, if it worked in real life, could be used en masse as a source of free energy

  • Hmm... okay if you say so. But how can it be powered by itself? there doesn't seem to be any force to it, it looks like that weel is powering the whole apparatus.

  • It's probably a physics glitch that has to do with the springs around the wheel.

  • gravity forcing the fins down

  • that's true, and fact is, i dunno. but you can tell that the hinge in the center has no motor on it.

  • your genes have failed. don't spread them please.

  • How about friction between joints? Phun Lacks this, therefor this simulation is inacurate.

Cool all the same, I love trying to make perpetual motion machines in phun.

  • I thought you could have dampening on joints in phun?

anyways, it may be floating point errors, or maybe even a teeny tiny bug in the physics engine, if not the lack of friction.

  • I can tell you abpout one source of energy GRAVETY

  • If you do a machine that can use the energy of GRAVETY you will be rich

  • Fails in WM2d too bad

  • wat is this thing on i mean wat website is it on

  • Not only the floating point, but the Euler's approximative integration.

    Anyway, Phun is great. =)

  • That likely stems from rounding errors in the floating point math, which is a natural result of the limited precision floating point units have.

  • The 'lol' was supposed to be for sentinel2456. Hate it when you tube does this!

  • And especially when it undoes it again. Your comment is now listed as a reply to sentinel...

  • whats that program ?

  • Phun

  • i got a bug on my phun i cant make water properly cause the screen becomes blue..

    =/ help...

  • ya me too...

  • omfg i commented my self!!!

  • lol

  • turn on simple water rendering. i had the same problem.

  • But when you do that, the water becomes stupid cirkels :(

  • I never seen this with wire.I think it can turn because of the elastic wire.<<<<<<<<<<somebody should build that with gumis.

  • its not wire its springs XD do you even have the game? doubt it though. but nice guess.they're springs put together to look like wire.

  • I have that game and i build 5 perpetuumobiles.

  • why work it in phun and in real life not?

  • oh

    srry =P

    its the calamity game

    google it

    the game sucks btw

  • @xxGLhrMxx

    dont write

    like

    this. Its

    friggen'

    annoying, and

    it doesnt make

    your text

    better in any

    way.

  • Simulator: Phun 2D Physics Sandbox

Song: Dream Theater - "Hell's Kitchen"

  • perpetual motion works in the game because of the ability to have 0 friction, with is impossible in the real world... and i dont think the game has air desnsity? correct me if im wrong

  • well it does, but it's not real physics air density, so it only kicks in once the object starts going at a really high speed, then it says "whoa this is going fast, let's put it's speed times direction and apply that same force on the opposite direction" so it's just a few lines of code really, real air physics would be AWESOME though :D

  • perpetual motion = impossible.

    its just fact.

  • here we go again... :P

  • Perpetual motion ZOMFG!

  • umm... this looks like a job for MYTHBUSTERS! it might make for an interesting episode/

  • They already made a perpetuum mobile episode, but none of them worked.

  • it would still be interesting if they made this model

  • oops nvm sorry i misunderstood, disregard this: " it would still be interesting if they made this model"

  • i'm pretty sure this model does not work in real life. it's just one of those inventions that do not work, but still makes you think about it...

I believe perpetual motion(in a friction-ON environment :D ) is not possible. But maybe an "almost perpetual" motion might be possible, something that could generate energy to power up the whole world for several years .The sun is a good example of almost perpetual energy. We still cannot rely only in this power source, but we're getting there :)

  • The sun is not a good engine at all actually, it wastes to much of it's energy. Applied we could build a much better "machine" using just as much energy as the sun uses, and make it run much longer. Also, this "would" work in real life, but it's not prepeutual motion. Even Phun emulators friction. The problem is, the wear down of the parts. Even overlooking that, there is still an outside source, which is gravity. Gravity =/= prepeutual motion.

  • it is impossible to reproduce this, or create any type of perpetual machine that doesn't use any outside source of energy.

  • To the Video Maker... guy... person...

You are correct, it's just a glitch with the springs. This simply could not be replicated in real. (watch some Einstein come along and prove me wrong 20 years from now) lol

  • OMG wtf u guys talking about? xD

as i already said: we can't tell if a perpetuum mobile (one that generates energy in the process) is possible or not, because we'll never know 100% of the math and physics of the universe!

but anyway... that's just MY opinion, feel free to post ur theories!

  • and i commented about a different topic: the fact that in a vacuum, like space, objects usually stay at a constant velocity, so it's easier to make a perpetuum mobile in space (i think i was replying in agreement to something you said - cant remember exactly)... that's all

  • you can make a perpetual mobile anywhere, as long as there is no energy lost.

this means that it can't be used for anything useful.

  • wrong! there will ALWAYS be energy lost through friction, even if the device is not doing work. it's unavoidable.

  • what if there is no friction

    (see my first comment)

  • in that case you would be correct. unfortunately though, it is not possible to have any system of moving parts without losing energy to friction. for example, a typical internal combustion engine has an efficiency of only 20% to 30% due to mechanical friction and other losses.

  • unless you count our entire universe as a single system, then it is (in theory) 100% efficient, as no energy is lost.

  • unless you consider that matter (and therefore energy) is destroyed in blackholes ;)

or so most astrophysicists believe, but i don't suppose we'll ever know for sure.

  • black holes are superdense, the matter is simply compressed on a scale that would reduce the Earth down to the size of a marble.

wheather the matter is then blasted out the other side in a big bang in another universe or not nobody knows.

if that is the case, then this multiverse is an 100% efficient system as ultimatly no energy or matter is lost- it just gets more diluted as it spreads through dimentionless nothingness.

  • the earth would become infinatly small, a marble would be huge compared to it

  • when the earth is reduced that small, the people on the earth will also be reduced, but our weight will increace.

the result would be that everone is morbidly obease, before we are then crushed by that now huge marble.

  • lol, ur missing my point...

a marble in comparrison to the earth after it has been shoved through a black hole would be huge, a marble on the earth after it has been through would be just as small as everything else

  • i already knew that, the problem lies with the lack of a unit of measurement small enough to measure the size of the marble after its in the black hole.

but it all depends on the size of the marble,

but the point is that if we're in a black hole, and there a now massive marble headed for us, the intense gravity will super-accelerate it so that now small marble ('cos its in the black hole) will hit us with the energy of a meteor strike.

  • the marble will be sucked into the black hole with the earth before it can hit it,

it will be compressed equally as small as the rest of the earth

this is a rather hypothetical discussion lol

  • assuming that the marble is outside the black hole, while the earth is inside, then the marble gets sucked in and kills everyone.

yeah i know- bet its really pissing off xxGhlrMxx!!!

  • lol!

i dont know enough about black holes to say to be honest, but owel, nice talking! lol laters

  • perpetual motion is possable, provided that there is no resistance:

so a steel block spinning in a vacuum suspended on magnetic fields is perpetual motion,

however this is fucking useless, as all it does is sit there and spin.

    nice vid though

  • thx

but sit there and spin is not useless at all!

we can generate electricity with it...

  • how?, the generation of electricty will take energy out of the steel block, slowing it down.

would be an intresting expierement though.

however the steel block will have to be magnetised in order to make electricty.

  • oh i got it now!

well i dont think its possible to do that experiment, i think the magnectic field itself would stop the block from spinning... unless you send it to space, away from gravity.

but it would still be impossible to make electricity, cause the fricction would stop it as you said...

on my phun scene, air fricction is on, and it still can make energy to destroy that building below... i think THATs a perpetual mobile, and thats why people say its impossible to make a real one

  • like you said, in zero-gravity there will be no need for suspension on magnetic fields, so a two magnets connected by a rod to make an I shape spinning vertically in a horizontal wire coil might work.

(basically put a generator in space, and take out the bits holding the magnets in place, then spin the magnets as they would normally be spun in a genorator)- might work, however it breaks the laws of physics.

    worth a try though

    (we need magnets on phun)

  • thats a fuckin good idea... but sounds too simple to be possible =)

we tried sending a generator to space once: a huge coil flying around earth's EMF.

    but the coil literally burned...

and yeah, we do need magnets on phun, ive emailed emil about that

  • thats what i can't get my head around;

its too simple, and the concept is impossable-yet i still feel like it'll work even though i know thet its impossable.

    phun expolosives sound fun!!!!

  • I don't think this works, because the magnetic field in die coil, made by the current which flows through it, wich flows because of the induced Voltage, works against the movement of the magnets.

I hope you understand me, even if my english is so bad. :(

  • hahah i knew there was something wrong about this!

    thx Schievel

  • i though something like that might happen.

  • all objects have a natural tendency to stay at a constant velocity (inertia) unless acted upon by an outside force, which on Earth is gravity, friction, and air resistance

  • the magnetism created in the coil will counter the magnetism in the spinning magnets, slowing it down.

however the national grid is an alternating current, therefore has an alternating magnetic field.

put a matal coil in this field to get free electricty.

(the only problem is that you need a lot of coil for a small amount of electricty.)

  • What is is it??? explain me plz

  • well... its what people call "perpetuum mobile", a thing that is in constant motion and uses only gravity to do that... but right now its pretty much impossible to build a real one... ive seen some videos but i still think they're all fake.

  • sad, that it doesn't works in real life. btw. phun has many wrongs converning impulses

  • ya... but we cant be really sure that it doesnt work in real life... who knows? ive never seen any1 trying this design with springs.

  • you won't see it, beacause in real realitiy, where WE all live, there is no perpetuum mobile. things like these are unbuildable. don't you know?

  • The wind is in perpetuum motion.

Ok it will die when the sun dies in 4.000.000.000 years. But I don't intend to live that long.

  • and who r u to say that, ATown31061? god? i believe that perpetuum mobiles do not exist, too... but we cant say it doesnt exist at all becuz we did NOT create the universe. before we go to the moon, nobody thought that would b possible, right?

heres a video whose author claim to be a perpetuum mobile generator. i think its a fake, but this shows im not the only one that thinks that perpetuum mobiles might exist by a small chance:

    /watch?v=7lD_65ggChs

  • You're right with the moon thing. hundred years ago, every thought that going up to the moon or in space might be something impossible for humans. but they knew, that it is physically und mathemathically possible. in opposite to the perpetuum mobile we know that such a mobile IS IMpossible. there is the difference i think.

  • Ya, ur right. hundred years ago we knew that it would be physically and mathemathically possible... but a thousand years ago, our mathemathic knowledge was too poor to even calculate that, and earth was physically flat. my point is that we are constantly upgrading science. We dont know 100% of the math and physics of the universe, and we will never get there.

  • ...maybe phun will
