  • There is difference between singer and artist - difference between singing and rendering. She is a good singer - can become a good artist. Style is so typical of Ajoy Chokroborthy. Good Patiyala style.

  • i m speechless @ voice. a tribute to her GURU

  • Cosmic. Spiritual. A way to communicate with and beckon Cosmos, or is it Cosmos communicating with us through this beautiful medium?

  • whats the tabla part at2:52 called?? uthaan?? or bedam chakradaar tihaai? thanks

  • what is the part at 2:52 from which the tabla plays called?? is it an uthaan?? or a chakradaar tihaai??

  • Please tell me where i can find lyrics for indian classical music like that :-)

So beautiful, but i simply can't understand what she sing!

It makes me a bit nervous =)

    Please!!!HELP!!

  • @tybalbulba Here is the bandish:

    Here you go:

Sthayi: Kahe maan karo sakhi ri ab

Bahut dinan par piya ghar aaye

Vako manao, rijhao dheer dharo (she changed this line, this is how I was taught)

Antara: gandh maal se use sajao

    vividh dhang se gao bajao

    pritam ki ab preet haro.

  • @r8rdarklord Thx to u for answering!!

But i mean an english translation :)

I don't understand Hindi lyrics ;) Tht's why i'm a bit nervous, this music is so beautiful with her voice and i really wish to understand lyrics :)

    Maybe i will one day:)

  • @tybalbulba Ok got it. Background is - Two females are talking to each other, when one asks:

Kahe = Why Maan = love, respect & preparation, sakhi ri ab = My friend now

The other one replies because: bahut dinan me = After an extended absence piya ghar aaye = your lover has come home.Vako manao, rijhao, dheer dharo = you should with patience, use every trick to make him feel happy & fulfilled

  • @r8rdarklord She then advises: Gandh maal se anga sajao - you should preen yourself with perfumes and flower

vividh dhanga se gaao bajao - entertain him in many ways through song and music

pritam ki ab preet haro - do all you can to win your love.

On second thoughts, the translation lacks the poetic beauty of the couplets. The meaning is straight forward but when rendered with the poetry has amazing effect. Hope this helps.

  • @r8rdarklord

It helps indeed!Thx again!!I'll try to imagine subtilities of the words sounds with this traduction :)

Would be better if i understood Hindi but nobody is perfect ;)

    For a darklord u're kinda sympathetic ;)

  • @tybalbulba You are welcome. R8rdarklord is how the fans call the owner of an american football team that I follow. I thought it is a cool internet name, therefore I use it. There is very little of the darklord in me.

  • jiteay raho ji please let me know if she comes to us canada tours

  • i like to listen it again n again really my fav mode - Madhuvanti

  • ribandarcho want to know more, why is it not an obvious raag.

  • astounding! this young woman's voice is a rare gift indeed!

  • having mesmerizing voice i love ur voice madam

  • "Rasme ulphat ko nibhaye to kaise composed by Great MD Madan Mohan in this Raga is also fantastic. This particular rendition and voice simply great.

  • the starting so appealing and a voice of a gem.

    kya baat hai.

puts me in a different state of mind.

    god bless you!

  • By far the best vocalist in her generation...Jeeti raho..Sakala Shubham Bhavatu...

  • what is shuda and komal ? I want to sing hindi songs so which raaga help me to sing ?

  • The best singer in her generation in India now hands down!!! Jeeti raho...

  • sooo beautyful................

  • Superb! The sliding notes between 4:35 and 4:55 or so are smooth as silk, and the taans between 8:45 and 9:45 or so are like jewels...

  • Sooo beautiful!

  • GOD BLESS HER - SHES AMAZING !!

  • Absolutely beautiful voice and rendition of the raga. Tabla player did a fantastic job as well. A must list.

  • Are you sure its YogeshJi, I thought it was Subhashish Bhattacharjee

  • Beautiful, and amazing whoever is on tabla as well!

  • From experience of listening to Smt. Kaushiki, I would hazard a guess the tabla player is Subhashish Bhattacharjee.

  • Yogesh Samsi Ji - Punjab Gharana - Student of Alla Rakha Khan, and Ustad Zakir Hussain. Truly a young legend.

  • Madhuvanti is such an appropriate name to this Rag. The feeling of sweetness is so unique. I have a feeling that the ragas like Madhuvanti might have been discovered after the mainstream rag such as yaman. It is not an 'obvious' rag. For that matter, Bhatiyar might have come after Marwa. One has to marvel at the genius of the founder and named it Madhuvanti. This rendition is of the same caliber as the gem 'Rashme Ulfat' composed by the great Madan Mohan

  • You may have a point there - however ragas like Madhuvanti are pretty much mainstream these days, i would say. Also keep in mind that Madhuvanti is only slightly modified from Multani...i don't know of course if you consider Multani as "mainstream" - probably not.

  • I have heard that Madhuvanti was composed by Ustad Vilayat khan (yes, it is a slight modification of Multani, latter considered more melodious and with deeper gravitas). As in science, it was independently composed by Waman Padhye (Guru of famous marathi singer Sudhir Phadke) under the name 'Ambika'

  • @ribandarcho:- really true said

  • @ribandarcho Did you know that this is also called Ambika, which, to me, sounds sweeter? Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia has a recording where he plays Mahdu-Malhar-- a very sweet raaga with the sweetness of Madhuvanti and the added poignancy of Malhar.

  • @ribandarcho mdhuvanti is one of the ragas in carnatic classical - dharmavati is the janaka raga of madhuvanti; in hindustani classical this raga is exactly like multani with rekhab & dhaivat shuddha; this is under Todi thaat

  • Wha wha!...now this is what im talking about...my kinda classical vocalist...like her dad she does beautiful vocal percussion....my favourite female classical vocalist....peace
