I also like this version because it's nice to see the evil Herodias get a comeuppance of sorts through losing her daughter.

This is a different portrayal of Salome from Scripture.. the Gospels don't portray her as repentant (and add that she actually did bring her mother John's head on the platter). I also assume the Salome of Scripture was older than she is in the anime. But of course, this being a kid's show, they had to alter the storyline a bit. I actually like this take on the story better, chiefly because it's so different from most modern depictions. Also, her character design for the anime is beautiful.
