  • yeah

  • "In February 1970 The Who recorded Live at Leeds, thought by many critics to be the best live rock album of all time" - Umm correction. Greatest LIVE ALBUM ever.

  • Hands down one of the greatest live performances ever. Gather round children - THIS IS HARD ROCK.

  • I'm 54, when I was young I would wake up and blast this song. It would energize me before I went off to work. I still love it.

  • I loved when music had energy like the Ramones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Iggy Pop. Now you go to a show and it doesnt have the energy like music of the past. FUCK LADY GAGA! Sellout!

  • I meant The Isle of Whight.

  • I love this song. I saw it on the dvd "Live at the Isle of white" from 1970. Keith is fascinating to watch on drums. Nobody played faster than Moonie. Imagine how good he wouldv'e been if he had practiced! He was so busy partying and throwing TVs into swimming pools.

  • Original metal!!!!!!!!

  • @qdog568 At 1:31, The Who invents thrash metal.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that this song should now be seen as a taunt rather than the angry lament it was intended to be? "Young man ain't got nothing in the world these days...Ha ha!" Because they're afraid of success and actually trying, of course.

  • Is there any faster drumming anywhere than the beginning here?

  • @MrGb1965 Mitch Mitchell was pretty fast, so is Ian Paice. Bonzo wasn't that fast, but he had more power.

  • v=yv7F8MyR84I

  • @spicegirlsfan472 you sir/maam are incorrect... nice try though.I like the Beatles fine really but I'm not 14 anymore I suppose you are... and there is nothing wrong with that.

  • @spicegirlsfan472 queen was all about freddie. The who was all about the four of them. Also, I can't be a big fan of a band that had a single called radio ga ga. I will listen to boris the spider a hundred times before i listen to that lolololol

  • @wendywolfman Actually you're wrong about Queen. it wasn't all about Freddie, not in the least. Three of the guys had lead voices and all four guys wrote songs that became hits for them. It would be easier to argue that the Who were all about Townsend as he was the main writer and sang half of the songs, but why bother? They were a great band. As for Radio Ga Ga, you should read the words sometime...he's making a good point, at least one that many of us can relate to.

  • great perfomance from still the best live recording ever

  • This is one of the heaviest Who jams ever, fuckin' a!

  • The Who is one of the best bands that came out of the 60's. All four of them had great talents. Put them together, they ROCK! No if's and's or but's about it!

  • Especially Zep with Bonham and The Who with Moon

  • yeah!

  • I'm from the Woodstock generation, was privileged in the 60's to go to Bill Graham's Fillmore East I saw Zappa, Joplin, Hendrix at the 64 world's fair, Zep, the Stones and the Who while stationed in Germany.

To this day the Who was the best live band I EVER saw or heard!!!

  • @Johnnydoowop1 sooo lucky . i was born in the 90s .. unfortunately.. my life would be complete to see all of those people. especially Led Zeppelin

  • @Johnnydoowop1 Am I jealous? Yes I am!

  • Best. Live. Album.

  • Watched the Foos cover this in Tulsa last night! It was amazing!!

  • Musically better than the Isle of Wight version on YouTube but the latter does have the visuals and is good. Keith - what a drummer, what a waste!

  • i miss rock and roll when it was angry

  • @classicalguitartv Agreed. I feel ashamed at modern "rock" groups, with their depressed, lifeless vocals. Morons! When life gets you down, you don't get sad! You pick up your guitar and get PISSED!

  • Best Drummer of all time.

  • @GrungeMetalRocker

Listen to other great drummers cover Who tracks like Young Man Blues ... they just don't have the magic ... I think you are right ... Keith Moon live was freakin amazing

  • @GrungeMetalRocker Hell Yeah. Keith "the loon" Moon was awesome.

  • Pretty much the perfect live rock song...

  • Perfection

  • I'd like to see Zeppelin rock this hard.

  • @goldnight102 I'm a huge Zeppelin fan, but even I admit this is possibly the greatest hard rock song ever. So. Badass.

  • the who es una retrochimba y este tema mi favorito

  • greatest live band of all time!!! easily

  • @beatlemaniac1966 Check out this band, SUPERLUNGS, who I saw playing a gig with Roger Daltrey! On Brighton Seafront! They are amazing!

    /watch?v=xwKewjd1DD4&feature=related

  • My God!

  • rocks.

  • @felicer Check out this band, SUPERLUNGS, who I saw playing a gig with Roger Daltrey! On Brighton Seafront! They are amazing!

    /watch?v=xwKewjd1DD4&feature=related

  • best live album ever, when the 70's had loads

  • I just listened to that record for the first time. I like Tommy, I like Who's Next and I love Quadrophenia. But this is just so full of energy. There's a fucking 15 minute long version of My Generation. With bluesy solos and a chorus from Tommy. Listen to that thing. It blew my mind away! Words cannot even describe the intensity of the emotions that just felt.

  • Awesome!

  • no band could compete with the who live.

  • @152jasper I beg to differ.. Obivously, the Who is an awesome band, but there are quite a few bands that could perform at either an equal or high level than them. But just about any band that's 'popular' today couldn't even touch their musical abilities.

  • @152jasper except for Queen and Bruce Springsteen but The Who is still number 1

  • @iamobeliskquake queen? grow up

  • @wendywolfman what do you mean grow up. watch their set at Live Aid and their set at Wembley 1986

  • That is amazing.

  • I was there. The best gig I ever saw. Bar none.

    Alyn

  • foo fighters versions is gay i love the original from the who better..

  • @marcus123211 not originally by The Who though is it

  • Just listen to Moonis sidetom at 2:50,,, hehehe thats the spirit.

  • The worlds BEST recorded live album,,,, EVER !!!!

  • is this song at isle of weight or woodstock

  • @gg136800yyk Neither. it's from Live at Leeds, as you can tell by the title.

  • @ThaaWhiteShadow live at leeds is the name of the album

  • @gg136800yyk Leeds is the city where it took place

  • @ThaaWhiteShadow o.... kk

  • Seen the WHO back in 1975 when they were at there best. They played so goood and so loud and it sounded exactly like this song does at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan

  • So fucking ripping.

Giving cover bands a great name.

Mose - you're still the man.

  • I was lookin through some of my grandpas old records when I was visiting a few months ago, i found this in a huge stack of records and i'm like "holy Sh*t, live at leeds!" so i ask my grandpa if we could play this on his old record player and he said yes. He turned it to this song and blasted this song with the volume turned up all the way, yeah the house was shaking. It was amazing

  • Been a Who fan for years.LOve this version of the song.Except for a couple Sabbath tunes, this was my original headbanger.Would turn this up so loud I pissed off alot neighbors!!

  • The Beatles

    The Who

    The Rolling Stones

    The Pixies

    The Doors

  • If there's ever been a better recorded song live...I haven't heard it.

    Epic!

  • The thing is that the Who (and by them I mean Townshend) were so intelligent. They songs were innovative and different, and they were doing things better and earlier than most of their contemporaries. Townshend himself was an absolutely unique guitarist; his combined rhythm-lead style has never been matched, and he can mix hard rock, jazzy and bluesy chords and even folks stuff in single licks. The Beatles are best rock band ever, but I'd put the Who 2nd over the Stones. Metallica? Pfft.

  • @metastasisman Beatles are not a rock band. They are a children's band who played pop music.

  • @ydor You realize that makes very little sense right? Like, none at all? Especially because The Who also played power-pop at the beginning of their career, and The Beatles certainly had their share of "rock" songs.

  • @instantdeath99 no i think it makes perfect sense, and i stand by my original statement thanks though.

  • @ydor You can stick by your original statement if you like, but again, it makes very little sense. Do you consider Chuck Berry rock? What about Roy Orbison? I'd consider anyone who doesn't believe they are rock to be really misinformed, and The Beatles are at least as "rock" as they are. Especially I Want You (She's So Heavy).

  • This sounds so awesome on vinyl at full volume

  • WHO THE FUCK STARTED OFF THIS POINTLESS SHIT ABOUT METALLICA?? what is metallica about in this video? what made you get to the point to compare the Who with metallica? there's no comparation at all! no way! two different periods, two far different generations to be compared...so stop fucking about and listen to the WHO, if you want to discuss about metallica check out a metallica video.

  • Unbeatable...the Oooo in the their heyday.

  • ima young man and i aint got shit

  • a young man ain't got fuck all these days. Roger tells it how it is

  • @duegold true

  • metallica is an image. i feel like the vast majority of their fans are fans because they want to be called Metallica Fans (mostly teenage boys) and force themselves to listen to the music--i know, i've been there. I grew out of it. and the Who are well-known but if you look at some of their lesser-known songs, those are lovely, too--theyre just all-around better to me. sorry.

  • Travel around the world with an Latino women rockmycity.info

  • oooh, i want to be in the Who vs Metallica debate

The Who - wrote legendary songs

    Metallica - didn't

    amidoinitrite?

  • @MultiNickDanger well i think metallica wrote more legendary songs then the who, but stop this stupid debate.. they are totally different bands and im sure metallica loves THE WHO and would never be comparised to them.. just have respect that it are 2 great bands that make the music world a better place

  • @MultiNickDanger Yes, yes you are.

  • @MultiNickDanger How is it even a debate? Metallica came what, 20 years later? And wasn't even the best band in THEIR time? They didn't have the best ANYTHING. Even bassist.

  • @MultiNickDanger The Who are awesome. And they wrote a ton of great stuff. But they didn't write "Young Man Blues." A guy named Mose Allison did.

  • @MultiNickDanger

No you're a fucking idiot. The Who and Metallica are two completely different, but amazing bands (that both should just call it quits).

    Asswipe.

  • does it get any better than this??? (maybe just a little,stones-ya,ya's) leeds is a legendary, must have album. music like this gives me a reason to get up every morning. bands today are laughable compared to genius' like the who. long live rock, be it dead or alive.

  • damn i love this song, its amazing, hard and with good solos

all the thing a perfect song need and this is one

  • I have only one thing to say every time I hear this tune.

    EEEEEYEYEEYYEYEYEEYYYYYYYYYAAAYAAYAAAAGAGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!

    AWESOME!

  • oh my jebus

  • just fucking awesome. i listen to this at least 10X a day.

  • beyond awesome. been listening since '72. nothing. i mean nothing better nigga. that is the truth, you want to fight me about it? it is the best. and i will kick your ass just for looking stupid. detroit.

  • Wow the Who can really rock. I saw Roger Daltrey play this in Nashville and it was amazing

  • This band is the 'pop' version of Led Zeppelin ;D

  • @lammyb You're the "retard" version of a normal person ;D The Who have been rocking longer and harder than Led Zeppilin since probably before you were born.

  • @batosai370 The latter is true, but... They're both blues rock, where led zeppelin could be considered 'hard' and the who somewhat 'softer'.

Anyway, i love both bands to death, and i'll make sure they'll get played on my funeral in 100 years or so :p .

  • @batosai370 no match for da' who, sorry.

  • @lammyb you silly fuck. you carry a knife? i do. i will cut you like a swine. would led zeppelin do that? you fucking cunt.

  • @teden20 What? Nevermind dude, communication breakdown ;) .

  • @teden20 To your questions:

    - Yes, Zep would kick your ass. Specifically Bonzo would beat you stupid with his drumsticks.

    - No. I don't carry a knife. But "Detroit" down here in Texas you show us a knife we'll show you a gun!

So shut you mouth and enjoy the music and DEBATE the comments. Else I will continue to mock you "for looking stupid". Not intimidating me!

    BTW:

    - Live At Leeds - Greatest Live Rock Album - EVER.

    - Bonzo - Greatest Rock Drummer - EVER. Even better than Moonie.

  • @MrTooz3 Oye, there is nothing wrong to standing up to me. And, no you can't whip my ass, because I cheat. You got a gun, so do I. The message is, I think I might be able to get along with you... we don't have to like each other, because, liking leads to lovin' and lovin' leads to fuckin'. and you ain't gonna fuck me! we agree except moonie was twice the drummer as Bonham. I know that and i'm a guitar player.... where is your mind mister?

  • @teden20 Stick with guitar playing then, I'm the drummer here - since 1971!!! Moonie was a great drummer - one of my favs. BUT... he could not SOLO. Moonie wins on speed and MAYBE his fills. But not as an overall drummer, with a variety of beats, that can actually use a hi-hat, that plays triplets with one pedal, that did a 30 minute plus solo every show. Keith was perfect for The Who, but Bonham is the "perfect" rock drummer. Both legends, both great, but Bonzo wins out. And I cheat more!

  • beast song.....

  • this is one the best live albums i have ever heard.

  • best live album still

  • @dave62x the best

  • Fantastic !

  • just listen, dont compare.

  • you all need to shut up and listen to the masters of the fucking rock

  • What a great song and an incredible version.

  • Hi Folks, Well, the God Damn Limeys screwed up the blues again. Sorry, it's just a reality! Listen to Mose Allison, it's the only song he sang on his first album. American music forever! This is not to the heart of matters which is the heart of the blues. Sorry Folks, Jay

  • @bluesjaye

Thanks for the Recommendation, Very much enjoying the Mose Allison Catalog

  • love this album!especially due to petes use of natural stage echo,in my generation,(using sound foldback)this song STILL feels load, and hard and gritty!.wish this concert had been filmed instead of the tanglewood bootlegs, ore the isle of wight gig!

  • Why would 9 persons (@ 14/07/10) apparently look up this video & vote a thumbs down? It absolutely blows my mind on how ignorant the human race can be. Maybe the insects deserve their time to dominate.

  • @KITCHENOFDISTINCTION they had it already like 500mya before vertibrates crawled to shore.

  • @KITCHENOFDISTINCTION how do you know they looked it up? maybe someone sent it to them

  • how I wish there was a video of this , oh my god.

anyway, greatest live album of all time for sure.

    for suuuure.

heaven and hell I cant explain how good it is , im free when listening to it.

  • jezuz.....

  • If you have heard the origional Mose Allison song you would be even more amazed at the Who's version . Pure genious. Thanks for posting they will always be my favorite band .

  • Hi, i'm a relatively new fan of The Who, and i was wondering if any of you avids could please tell me what live footage of The Who is available. I have 'The Kids Are Alright' film but i'm sure there is much else besides. Thank You.

  • @WannabeLyricist Get the live at kilburn 1977 dvd, its got that concert and an even better one from 1969 at the london coliseum

  • @theeOO69 Thanks so much for your message, i will certainly try and get my hands on a copy! Kind Regards.

  • Think about this one. What would you give or give up to be at this concert?

  • Theres a lot of excellent pioneermusic between 1967 - 1974, studioversions / Liveversions. None mentioned - none forgotten, but lets face it,,,,,THIS particulary liveconcert called "Live at Leeds" stands above most performances. 4 geezers on the stage ONLY for playing rockmusic. High energy, humor ( Pete-keith), lots of grooves, intensity, moods, its ALL there. Great sense of situations. And the best sounding SG gibson ever. The concerts in those days were QUITE different from todays.

  • 1970,s

  • Kieth Moon, one of the most legendary and outstanding drummers who ever died!

What a pity, what a loss!

  • The 8mm footage from this gig was a lucky find.

  • Im going to go shoot up my local classic rock station for not playing this. Shoot them all and they would deserve it for such a horrible offense.

  • Why Zeppelin have so much stolen songs?? Did not expect from them!!!

    But they still Great!!!

  • @z603dauren they didn't steal anything. they paid royalties and were not the only band of the time to remake classic blues numbers. but yes they are still great

  • @dlm9293 "they paid royalities..." :-))

At them too much remakes! If it remake why then they changed the name of the songs,,??!!! Young man blues - Black Dog, Since i`ve been loving you - Mobe Grape - Never and so on!!! I big fan of the Zeppelin but if to be objective - it is plagiarism!!

  • @z603dauren They paid royalties not royalities and how does this diminsh the fact that this thee only version worth listening to? if u know anything about this sort of music then you would know that the name of the song is of no concern and for your information young man blues is the name of the song young man blues by mose allison which the who covered so where is the plagiarism you are talking about?

  • @iceolator What difference?? Have paid or not paid royalties,??The idea of the song belongs not to Zeppelin, that I have in view of!

  • @z603dauren Firstly The Who covered this song not Led Zeppelin so you are correct in saying the song does not belong to them.Secondly Bob Dylan wrote all along the watchtower do a little research and you will find that song belongs to jimi hendrix and Dylan agreed by refusing to the play the song the way he wrote it after hearing hendrix's version. You clearly have flimsy grasp on music so we shall just leave it at that..............

  • @iceolator ))) A little it is difficult to me to speak in English, For this reason we will leave this unnecessary dispute, ok? Mobe Grape is a////Listen it and you will understand!!!

It was pleasant on to speak with you!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @z603dauren the songs you named, Black Dog, Since I've Been Loving You. They are original songs, written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. That's why those songs had different names. If you're going to mention a song in zeppelin's catalog then at least consider "Boogie with stu." a ritchie valens song that zeppelin was sued over because they paid royalties to his mother. a cover of a song is't plagiarism, not when you give credit to the songwriter, and it's considered as almost a form of flattery

  • @dlm9293 Ok, thanks for the answer///Led Zepp still are great to me!!

  • @z603dauren well im glad yo ustill feel that way..i agree.

  • To get the full effect of the power of this album, take your speakers and place them

next to separate open windows.Turn the speakers slightly away from each other.

Turn the volume up to about eight.Turn the bass up to about three.Turn the treble

to about seven.Go outside and stand about seventy feet away.Listen and enjoy!

  • This cover of Young Man Blues is the greatest five and a half minutes of rock music ever recorded. Guitar, bass, and drums working to perfection. Roger's soaring vocals. Incredible raw energy and power. There has never been a better rock rhythm section. Ever. Townshend's guitar work is brilliant. These guys were best. Simply the best. Seen 'em all: Zeppelin, Stones, you name it. No other band could ever match the intensity and power of the Who. Don't even bother trying to compare.

  • @jayrayinnv definatly have to agree. i dont like the who better than a zeppelin/stones/ a lot of people but man did they have a stage presence like no other. such an insane and amazing rock group. everyone of them is incredibly talented too.

  • @jayrayinnv cover?

  • @zog97xy yeah this is a cover of a JAZZY song that was originally played on the piano. it's hilarious how rockin they made it!

  • I have nothing against Metallica,but The Who,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple,The doors...

    rules!

    I love metallica too.

    But I said who rules!

  • This is classic rock!

  • This is the most rock and roll live album in history!

  • Wishing a happy belated birthday to Pete Townsend.

  • This may be the best live album ever recorded. It captures everything that made the Who such an amazing band in the late 60s and early 70s - raw energy, Pete's genius, Keith's manic percussion, John's perfect bass, Roger's instrumental voice - and this is my favorite on the album. It's just builds and then keeps going....blues rock at its very best

  • If it wasn't for The Who I wouldn't have been introduced to rock.

I was about 13 when I first listened to them, shortly after I went and bought my first CD - 'The Who Then and Now'. They are my favourite band.

  • Pete's guitar sounds like sonic boom !

  • I'd give my left testicle to have been able to see the who at this concert. I would hold the distiction of being there and seeing them and also retain my right testicle to tell my children one day how great it was.

  • when i first got into the foo fighters i saw them cover this. and ever since then i have decided the who and the foo fighters are the best bands fucking ever. the who being the better of the two of course!

  • WHO

  • Absolutely Awesome. My Favourite band. The Greatest Rock n Roll band on the Planet ever in my opinion. No one could touch The Who On nights like this.

  • 1:14 synchronization fail lol

  • Put this on after a good drink. Fuck the neighbours!

  • @TheHarecat And crank it to the firewall!!! As loud as those HIWATTs could go!

  • douche

  • The greatest live album of all time. PERIOD

  • @wrsawy1 YES

  • @wrsawy1 How the west was won/song remains the same are about the same level

  • @wrsawy1 i can go with that. straight up. Detroit.

  • @wrsawy1 Dat's right!!!

  • I play live at leeds before stuff I need to get up for, flag football, going out, whatever
