  • Can anybody tell me how to time a duplex pump i have a video of mine but it doesnt run as smoothe i just fixed it two days ago if you can help private message me

  • Do you know where I can read more about these Worthington duplex pumps?

I'm researching two of these types of pumps that once existed in a 1890's era gun lift battery to operate two elevators with each with a 52 ton 12 inch rifle on board.

The documents I have say it was a 20 X 4.75 X 15 inch steam water stroke, there are pictures and drawings I can share with you.

  • Thanks for the information. 100 psi steam and a positive displacement pump should do the job. I would be interested to know the names or contact of the firms who make or supply the pumps and castings and do you think they could be made or assembled in a developing country like Bangla Desh ?

  • Does anyone know if small steam pumps are still in production because I think they could work well with cheap low pressure thermal solar boilers for pumping water up from tube wells.

And could you make simple diy steam pumps ?

  • Yes.. there are a few companies that do make these still and other firms that make smaller casting kits for model pumps. I think you would need higher pressures to lift water any great distance though, although I'm not familiar with working pressures of thermal solar boilers. I've had these pumps running on steam at around 14psi / 120kpa, but not pumping water at that pressure. See my other videos for the steam operation footage with these pumps.
