The seriousness of this is so lol. If I saw a documentry for a sport with serious money and fame attaced to it, like tennis or something, and the film maker delt with it like this I would still think it was over the top. But for streetfighter? That's just funny.

It isn't. But I would consider the way the film makers dealt with the seriousness of the subject over the top even for pursuits with much more fame and money attached to them. (Even for something like tennis which is culturally accepted in contemporary society as more serious than any video game.) But the choices the director made for a pursuit like SF are just funny. (Protip: You might want to work on your reading comprehension.)

People who participate in any kind of tournament setting, whether it's Football or Street Fighter take it very seriously. Anyone who devotes that many hours training to be the best at something is taking it seriously.

The filmmaker is obviously trying to convey that this isn't just some silly game to these players, it's a competition.

Maybe to an outsider, it seems ridiculous... but then again, most things do.

I'm a competitive sf player myself and I appreciate people take it seriously. My issue is with the choices the director made in covering it. It'd be over the top for any pursuit, but for a video game, it's just funny. Perhaps he's even overcompensating. I'm sure there are people who take artificial bill insemination seriously. There're also probably people who take masturbating in their own faeces seriously. Certain cinematic choices when covering these pursuits would be a little strange though

This is a really good sample of BTM. Although I missed my shot watchin' it at Evo2k5, from the looks of things it seems like a very interesting watch.
