These diesel are "semi-ecu" versions. The small box of electronics control the advance & retard of the engine (notice you have a wire coming form one of the injectors, that is to tell the computer when the injector is opening)
I have the same engine. When you stay in front of the car, on the left hand side, there is a big plastic box where a computer is supposed to be placed.
My car is Peugeot 406 made in 1996 and I don't think it has a computer, but there is a small electronic unit in the box anyway, and "Valeo" is written on it with some long numbers. I wonder, does anybody know what this "Valeo" unit is? A computer? An immobiliser? Or what?
