The writers had no idea what they were doing with the series finale. The entirety of season 6 is revelatory evidence that the story was produced on the go instead of being planned before hand as they stated.
I was a huge LOST fan and have seen the series multiple times from up to Seasons 1-5 but season 6 I need not do the same. All season 6 has done is made me unable to watch the previous five seasons because I know how terrible and disnyish the ending is going to be.

honestly i hated the final episode of lost. Lost has left more questions than answers. many unanswered questions like the smoke monster, why the numbers gave hurley bad luck, why did the numbers made him win the lottery, why were the numbers encrypted on the hatch, why was dharma still sending their food to desmond even after the dharma people were gassed, why the whispers or where they come from, the visions who were they where they came from??????????????????? i hated the final episode
I agree, the first two seasons of this show were the only consistently well written pieces of this story. The rest of the seasons dwindle in quality writing but had some very good moments scattered about like the Jacob and Mib encounter on the beach and the smoke monster pretending to be Locke to kill Jacob. Then season 6 came along and confirmed my suspicions that the writers had no idea where they were going.
Hey Sean, here are some other series you could check out for recaps: Dexter, Breaking Bad, or Misfits.
Misfits is really cool - and has enough twists & secrets in it that recaps might be a good thing. Season one has just 6 episodes and has finished season 2 has been given the go ahead -I recommend that you check this out.
you should do all the disney pixar movies and all of their hidden easter eggs etc... i have yet to see a comprehensive list of them and i feel like you are thorough and professional enough to get most of them, if not all. then cover flash forward i suppose, to keep with your theme
something i don't quite get it when ben kills whitmore(spelling?). i remember a long time ago, off the island ben snuck into whitmore's home, and they discussed "the rules". i distinctly remember one of them saying that they couldn't kill the other, because was against the rules. then in the finale, ben kills whitmore. is that a continuity error, or what?
i was thinking maybe after jacob died the "rules" didn't apply anymore, but idk for sure. any theories/comments on this??

I am not satisfied with your or the producers answers and nodoby and nothing can convince me that the lost finale was great. Sorry for having my own opinion and feelings and being disappointed because I had big expectations. For me lost was like John Locke. I thought it was special, but it was only pathetic.

well that was 2006 and maybe that wasnt theyre agenda then but seing the last episode ,has to be purgatory or it doesnt make sense at all , with the characters having to redeem themselves thats a total recipe for purgatory
@Wanker725 I think the Island being purgatory makes for the best show. I wish this guy had not kept making these statement. It kind of ruined the excitement for me. The flash sideways is a type of purgatory for sure. If you were a Buddhist none of this would matter because all life is but a dream. Therefore all three parts would be equal.

@crazyltfreak charlottes body was left behind when they flashed in whatever time it was. She would just be bones laying where she died. The canoe shooting was one of my favorite/major mysteries that I wanted to know. The producers even said they know who was shooting at them but could not (for some reason) get it addressed in an episode. Fuckers should have just told us in the interview if they new. My guess it was Bram & that crew. Good enough for me!

@venji8 Developing fetus's are waaay more susceptible to external influences. Expecting mother smokes or drinks, doesnt do anything to her but the baby over time will be facked with long term consequences. Let alone radiation. It was a low dosage radiation effecting over time yet enough to be fatal for fetus. Could you have come up with this answer yourself? Open you mind a bit & try not to need answers spelled out. MIB never off island. Hurley can see dead people off island so we know ghosts can be off island.

@venji8 10-There were many points of the show. One was a story of characters being LOST in their lives & trying to find love, acceptance, friendship, redemption. Jacob said he picked them as Candidates cause they were all flawed & unhappy in their lives, like himself. Another point of the show was a battle between Light & Dark.Another point of the show is being able to start your life again no matter what has happened previously in your life. Another point of the show was wicked ass adventure.
@venji8 Anyways, the best thing to do is watch the series over & have fun with it. Cause most of these questions were answered in the show itself. And a lot of em that are not directly answered will be answered by yourself filling in the gaps. But that won’t happen until you catch the questions that were answered for you in the show.
@venji8 There is no finale that could ever be created that would ever satisfy you if your missing this much. Remember, you have to watch all the episodes more than just a couple times. OR read Lostpedia!!! If you have only watched each episode once…forget it, you will always miss too much & then be asking the obvious questions & be confused & unhappy. Ive had to watch it all at least 3 times for the boring episodes & the good ones many, many times. Have fun!!!

Most people who didn't like the ending is clear that did not get the show. That simple. Many complain that they didn't get enough questions answered and when I see these questions, they have already been answer and/or are irrelevant to the plot. "How did the polar bears get in the island?" Are you serious?
sean can u do like an episode for the unanswered questions after u know them cuz i think now that it is over .....someone is bound to have a positive answer on at least something cool in lost

I spent all these hours watching LOST in the hope that I will get answers. Ultimately, they never really came. I feel like ive been lied to. :( Did the writers just put loads of random stuff in all these years?
@DeityZiex what was the loophole?Why Locke is special? How many times someone can die? Why do they have rules if they break them all the time? Why Christian/MIB wanted to bring back the candidates? Why Jacob let MIB use his cabin? Why he never talked to Ben? What's the deal with the pregnancies? Why the others tried to harm the candidates? And finally what was the point of the show?
1. The loophole was getting someone else to kill Jacob, which is Ben.
2. Locke was special because according to MIB in 6x1, Locke was the only one who realized how pathetic the live he left behind was, and he was a man of faith, and that made him an easy target for MIB to manipulate.

4. To kill them...
5. It's assumed Jacob used the cabin sometime but moved to the statue. According to Ilana, someone else began using it after, presumably MIB)
6. MIB wanted Ben to think he was Jacob so he would do his dirty deeds for him, and later use him as part of his loophole
7. I'm guessing it has to do with the Jughead.

Most of these questions were answered, by characters themselves. No offence but you obviously didn't get the show at all and mostly asked stupid questions.

In the end, we find out, this is all Jack's dying fantasy, as he tries to come to grips as the single survivor of this horrendous plane crash. His divorce and complicity in his father's death, causes him such discomfort as he dies, he fabricates a world where he can right his wrongs, and "let go" and die. Matt Fox was right, it was all about Jack. trying to imbue life with meaning in his dying moments.
Those invested in the mythology and characters will be put off, but the story is powerful.
@fnorkle :S this isnt jacks dying fantasy. you even here christian when he's talking to jack in the church in the finale saying that this was the most important part of all your lives. the island was real and everything on it. its just the 'flash sideways/afterlife' part that wasnt as real. that was a place they all made together so they could move on together because they were all important parts of each others lives.
@kuwalacocklog thanks, but Jack's dad is part of his fantasy as is all that stuff he spoke about friends and journeys. In it, Jack allows himself to forgive himself and quiet his fear of death and defeat reality, he dies alone but for the dog. The mysticism of religiousness attracts many because it is human to seek plan, where there may be none. For me, it is comforting to know, to the last, he wants to make sense and gather peace from even dying. To know the quest never ends, is great.

@vietnamine originally introduced the numbers were the core values for that equation that would predict humanity wiping itself out. They also popped up for Hurley lotto from the radio transmission. Again coming from Dharma on the island to guy at listening post to looney bin to hurley.
@vietnamine ALSO the numbers was from a list of candidates that Jacob made. 1 through whatever it was 360 i think, possibly for number of degrees at the lighthouse. 4-Locke 8-Reyes 15-Ford 16-Jarrah 23-Shephard & 42-Kwon were the remaining candidates to replace Jacob. Others would have been eliminated from dying or like Kate for being a mother.
yes I have many questions remaining but maybe biggest is that when jacob and that other guy was young why did their mom say that MIB could not never leave the island cos we know that after they grew up and jacob was protector of that light he was able to come and go how he wanted so why couldn't their mom just tell him that when he is older he can go visit other places or something cos if she would nothing like this wouldn't happen.. or was there maybe some other reason that he couldn't leave.
@roossi out of my ass....I think each protector makes up their own rules. Mother was crazy in a way, & her rule was that they boys could never leave the island, maybe just cause she didnt like outsiders. By the time Jacob becomes Protector, he F's up & turned his brother into the smoke monster. by then MIB is made of evil & if he leaves it would be bad for the whole world- it would end. But really??? The context of the show is any possibility with the writers...

@nycbassist76 Jack was immortal. Being immortal doesnt mean your invulnerable. (like LOTR elves - immortal - but not invulnerable - they can live forever but die in battle). MIB was able to stab & hurt Jack cause the island was "shut off" &/OR Mothers & Jacobs rules dont apply to new or past Protectors. That was their rule. & Protectors can make up there own rules. Ben implied to Hurley that.
On that note....this is/was a thinkers show....this show never was intended to spoon feed viewers....

Misfits is really cool - and has enough twists & secrets in it that recaps might be a good thing. Season one has just 6 episodes and has finished season 2 has been given the go ahead -I recommend that you check this out.

something i don't quite get it when ben kills whitmore(spelling?). i remember a long time ago, off the island ben snuck into whitmore's home, and they discussed "the rules". i distinctly remember one of them saying that they couldn't kill the other, because was against the rules. then in the finale, ben kills whitmore. is that a continuity error, or what?
i was thinking maybe after jacob died the "rules" didn't apply anymore, but idk for sure. any theories/comments on this??

I am not satisfied with your or the producers answers and nodoby and nothing can convince me that the lost finale was great. Sorry for having my own opinion and feelings and being disappointed because I had big expectations. For me lost was like John Locke. I thought it was special, but it was only pathetic.

@crazyltfreak charlottes body was left behind when they flashed in whatever time it was. She would just be bones laying where she died. The canoe shooting was one of my favorite/major mysteries that I wanted to know. The producers even said they know who was shooting at them but could not (for some reason) get it addressed in an episode. Fuckers should have just told us in the interview if they new. My guess it was Bram & that crew. Good enough for me!

@venji8 Developing fetus's are waaay more susceptible to external influences. Expecting mother smokes or drinks, doesnt do anything to her but the baby over time will be facked with long term consequences. Let alone radiation. It was a low dosage radiation effecting over time yet enough to be fatal for fetus. Could you have come up with this answer yourself? Open you mind a bit & try not to need answers spelled out. Pessimism will not help you understand the show. But im glad to try & help!

@venji8 Loophole, changing/manipulating rules. Ben shooting Widmore was after Jacob died. Jacobs rules died with him. MIB cant leave island cause Island is holding him there. Not jacobs rules. MIB is held on island by the island through power of Protector. Christian was at times either himself or a halucination for Jack off island when he was all messed up-drinking & drugs. MIB never off island. Hurley can see dead people off island so we know ghosts can be off island.

HOWEVER remember Hurley tells Dogen “im a candidate” & Dogen curses him but wont harm/kill him. & anyone on a list wont be killed. They may get roughed up but big deal. Tough world they live in. ALSO Illana & Bram keep Lapidus safe cause he might be a Candidate but they still knock him out.

@venji8 10-There were many points of the show. One was a story of characters being LOST in their lives & trying to find love, acceptance, friendship, redemption. Jacob said he picked them as Candidates cause they were all flawed & unhappy in their lives, like himself. Another point of the show was a battle between Light & Dark.Another point of the show is being able to start your life again no matter what has happened previously in your life. Another point of the show was wicked ass adventure.

OR read Lostpedia!!! If you have only watched each episode once…forget it, you will always miss too much & then be asking the obvious questions & be confused & unhappy. Most people who didn't like the ending is clear that did not get the show. That simple. Many complain that they didn't get enough questions answered and when I see these questions, they have already been answer and/or are irrelevant to the plot. 1. The loophole was getting someone else to kill Jacob, which is Ben.
2. Locke was special because according to MIB in 6x1, Locke was the only one who realized how pathetic the live he left behind was, and he was a man of faith, and that made him an easy target for MIB to manipulate.

In the end, we find out, this is all Jack's dying fantasy, as he tries to come to grips as the single survivor of this horrendous plane crash. His divorce and complicity in his father's death, causes him such discomfort as he dies, he fabricates a world where he can right his wrongs, and "let go" and die. Matt Fox was right, it was all about Jack. trying to imbue life with meaning in his dying moments.
Those invested in the mythology and characters will be put off, but the story is powerful.

@fnorkle :S this isnt jacks dying fantasy. you even here christian when he's talking to jack in the church in the finale saying that this was the most important part of all your lives. the island was real and everything on it. its just the 'flash sideways/afterlife' part that wasnt as real. that was a place they all made together so they could move on together because they were all important parts of each others lives.

In it, Jack allows himself to forgive himself and quiet his fear of death and defeat reality, he dies alone but for the dog. The mysticism of religiousness attracts many because it is human to seek plan, where there may be none. For me, it is comforting to know, to the last, he wants to make sense and gather peace from even dying. To know the quest never ends, is great.

I hated the ending at first.....until i woke up this morning and saw another fan made youtube reaction of a burly man with a beard crying his eyes out...so i rewatched the finale 3 times and everytime i loved it more and more. i am now happy to say that the ending is absolutely perfect.....and for all you losties that didn't get your answers....the season 6 dvd will have a special portion to explain some of the mysteries that were left unanswered.

@vietnamine ALSO the numbers was from a list of candidates that Jacob made. 1 through whatever it was 360 i think, possibly for number of degrees at the lighthouse. 4-Locke 8-Reyes 15-Ford 16-Jarrah 23-Shephard & 42-Kwon were the remaining candidates to replace Jacob. Others would have been eliminated from dying or like Kate for being a mother.

yes I have many questions remaining but maybe biggest is that when jacob and that other guy was young why did their mom say that MIB could not never leave the island cos we know that after they grew up and jacob was protector of that light he was able to come and go how he wanted so why couldn't their mom just tell him that when he is older he can go visit other places or something cos if she would nothing like this wouldn't happen.. or was there maybe some other reason that he couldn't leave.

@roossi out of my ass....I think each protector makes up their own rules. Mother was crazy in a way, & her rule was that they boys could never leave the island, maybe just cause she didnt like outsiders. By the time Jacob becomes Protector, he F's up & turned his brother into the smoke monster. by then MIB is made of evil & if he leaves it would be bad for the whole world- it would end. But really??? The context of the show is any possibility with the writers...

@chaddoman well yes that sounds like good reason..but there is lot of thing in lost where writers haven't think all clearly like when black rock crashes to the island and richard looses hes stick cos of that pig and try to reach it why the fuck he didn't turn around and take it whit hes feet?!

@chaddoman that was an awesome point nobody broth that up. but I wonder how Hurly died. eventually. and most importantly how fat did he get I mean now that he is imortal he can eat all he wants. screww it new spin off it should be called found.

in a way its good that the writers left some questions open towards interpertation. This way we can still have things to talk about for sometime to come. Like for me i will always wonder what would have happened if the MIB would have gotten off the island.

@jaguarclaw here's an even more important question...why wasn't jack immortal and MIB was able to kill jack so how was he like jacob?......but none of it matters...i wasted 6 years of my life on a dumb ass show with a dumb ass ending

@nycbassist76 Jack was immortal. Being immortal doesnt mean your invulnerable. (like LOTR elves - immortal - but not invulnerable - they can live forever but die in battle). MIB was able to stab & hurt Jack cause the island was "shut off" &/OR Mothers & Jacobs rules dont apply to new or past Protectors. That was their rule. & Protectors can make up there own rules. Ben implied to Hurley that.
On that note....this is/was a thinkers show....this show never was intended to spoon feed viewers....

@chaddoman Mothers/Jacob rules still have applyed because Kate shot Flocke before the island was shut off and he was ok
