But I still love Tina's version. It's raw. It's not over-processed.

@rozenkristal327 Honestly, If she gets ahead of them she does this live too. It's not the mic. She have an almost overbearingly powerful voice. In a nut shell, her voice is heard over others. They would have to turn her mic down lower than the other person the reason she was like that on I Feel Pretty/Unpretty was because she wasn't belting. This whole song pretty much she's belting its what she's known for, It's Darren that can't keep up.

But as a broadway singer, I think that Lea would know how important it is to listen to the people who are singing around you. And I think she should also be able to control her voice so it isn't so overpowering. I personally don't think it is Lea, because she has some songs where she is belting, and her voice still blends with whoever she is singing with.

I personally think it's just the producers catering towards the scores of Lea/Rachel fans.

@rozenkristal327 It's not the producers. If you listen to the live performances, her voice is much more prominent than any of the others. In some close up shots, you can see her fiddling with her mike so it's more muffled. In a lot of duets and group numbers now, since each voice is recorded individually, they purposely tone down her voice so it "blends" more. She just has a more powerful voice due to years of being on stage, but some people find that annoying.

Tina's version was lovely, soft and could be played on a pop station. This version seems very much more suited to a stage, the power of both voices could easily reach to the back of any auditorium.

Both versions nice but completely different. This would not do well on a pop station though, but boy would I want to be that person seeing these two on any Broadway stage.

remember watching the film West Side Story when I was about five. I drove my familly mad playing it over and over again. Have seen it in the theatre four times and still can't get over how amazing it is. This song and one hand one heart make me melt everytime I hear them. I think Darren and Lea did an amazing job.
