  • So I meant to noname 8339

  • To noname8389. I so agree with you!

  • who gives a shit whether the actors are white, black, hispanic, chinese, japanese, russian, arab, hungarian, etc.? if the show is funny and/or entertaining, it really doesn't matter where they come from.

  • george lopez opens his lunch box and it goes LOOOOKIIN GOOOOOD !

  • @Zazozung

It's because the '80s were overrated.

Humor in sitcoms was the best in the '70s. Then after that it started going downhill.

Today we have talent shows and canned sitcoms that make even the crappy shows of the '80s-90s superior in comparison. We've made huge strides in technology, yet went backwards in racial comedy.

  • @KratostheThird We had Everybody Hates Chris. Doesn't that count as "racial comedy"?

  • Wow! A contrary image to the Machismo stereotype of Latino men. Chico was a man, but a true human being, and an American if not by birth from East L.A. Comedies on minorities & other social groups aren't meant to propagate exaggerated traits or stereotypes. We tend to laugh at things we think is unusual, but hopefully not out of a racist manner when we view other cultures different from our own. We are all people, while anyone can be an American by birth or choice, similar to being...Jewish? +

  • I wish they would show these old sit-coms along with Welcome back Kotter and the Odd Couple instead of the same oldies they've been playin for years tv land.

  • wow Freddie Prinze was very handsome

  • GLENN RESCH

  • freddie prinze. rip

  • He could really make me laugh..I love this show.

  • the best come and then they go too soon!!!! They belong to God ,he wont let them stay here too long. AMEN

  • poor freddie prinze jr, that he couldn't know his father

  • he reminds me of beatle paul mccartney during their sgt.pepper phase.

  • @georgelee43211 I agree! Same striking handsomeness, same indefinable presence. And similar hair!

  • chico=yummy

  • Freddie Prinze was the real life Juan Epstein...

  • RIP Freddy we miss you

  • RIP so sad...he was such a great actor

  • A Puerto Rican playing a Mexican? lol

    Canned laughter

  • @bluepastry SAME BEAN

  • LOOKIN' GOOD

  • It seems like they showed reruns of it on some cable channel several years ago. They will probably show it again eventually. Reruns of shows seem to cycle around and some shows take a lot longer than others to go around. I'm sure it all depends on who asks for it and what the contract terms are. I think I watched every episode of this show when it was on. I loved it! Freddie & Jack were a perfect match. And, Freddie was such a doll!

  • cadalfie there is no such thing as a "Latin " Humour.Someone from the dominican republic,Mexico.and spain are not even One race.Their Dna and CULTURE could not be more different.Nothing is worse than IGNORANCE.

  • maybe the dna is different, but lets face it, our cultures are fairly similar. maybe they aren't identical but similar enough that we all understand each other.

  • well too bad for the suckers that dont get the LATIN humor....we have to be the ones with the most sense of humor ever.....besides this show wasn't based on latin or hispanic humor what so ever it was a mixture of everything I believe, so you can take your stupid comment back pinche jente racista!!

  • nuestros chistes son mas ocurrentes y

    graciosos....

solo me quedo con family guy y los simpson

    claro traducidos en español...

  • @cadalfie man you're a supremacist muthafucker. lemme guess you're from either new york or somewhere in cali

  • @cadalfie Yes, the show was so Latino, that the two leads were Jewish, the show's creator was Jewish, the producer was JewIsh, and the writers were Jewish. YES YOU LATINOS MUST BE THE FUNNIEST PEOLE EVER.

  • i'm just being honest, i was born in 1971, so i actually remember "CHICO & THE MAN" growing up in the 1970's, & in my opinion, it was just ok, nothin fasinating. i also remember in the 1980's, they were tryin to show REPEATS of the show, but what happened was the younger generation wasnt interrested in that show, but JEFFERSONS, WHATS HAPPENING, GOODTIMES, & ARCHIE BUNKER SHOW did very well, & even gettin high ratings today. LATIN based shows just doesnt appeal to to many races, besides LATINS.

  • is that why the GEORGE LOPEZ SHOW is the highest rated program on Nick at Nite? If nobody besides Latinos enjoyed that humor, I highly doubt it would be such a successful rerun

  • yeah!, but thats just 1 show.

explain why thru all these years, CHICO & THE MAN is not being shown today, yet GOODTIMES, JEFFERSONS, ALL IN THE FAMILY, WHATS HAPPENING, THE COSBY SHOW, FAMILY MATTERS, BRADY BUNCH, & many more old shows are still being shown & still gettin good ratings even today?

  • Maybe Chico and the Man just isnt that good and that's why its not getting played because it never brings in ratings. However to say that it failed because it had Latin Humor in it is stupid and ignorant. You act as if there has been a plethora of Hispanic stars landing lead roles in american TV series. There have only been 3, George Lopez, Desi Arnez (Ricky Ricardo), and of course Freddie 2 out of the 3 shows that had Latinos in lead roles gained a lot of success and still do with their re-runs

  • @Ivan2788 Desi Arnaz (Cuban) was in the very start of prime-time comedy in the 1950s, before the Castro regime in Cuba triggered an exodus of refugees later in the 1960s. It is important to recognize Latinos, Asian- & African-Americans participated in prime-time, not just stereotypical minor characters. The Cosby Show for example, Family matters, the Hughleys, My wife and Kids, Modern Family, and the George Lopez show were successful. Also mentioned is All American girl starring Margaret Cho. +

  • @demikede1 The Cosby Show was not the first sitcom to show wealthy African Americans (The Jeffersons), nor the first to show a strong African American Family (The Jeffersons, Good Times, What's Happening!!). I really don't get why The Cosby Show is put on such a pedestal. It really wasn't even very funny, not compared to All In The Family or the other '70s shows. It was simply Bill Cosby teasing his kids for a laugh.

  • Are you really such a dumb bastard????? Chico and the man isn't shown today because it didn't have longevity. Chico and the Man had 40 million viewers and here was a young kid in his early 20's. The show was destined to grow. What a dumb bastard, and why is your black ashy ass in every latin theme video here on Youtube???

  • nevawrong sorry, but you are wrong about this. Completely. Ethnocentric, myopic thinking perhaps? Comedy is comedy. To say it "only" appeals to certain races is just sad coming, especially since we're in the same generation. We're supposed to be the smart generation, the most educated. What you said just doesn't sound right. I feel embarrased. Geeze.

  • jack albertson from willy wonka!!

  • Yes, that's correct--that's him, Jack Alberston from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory!!! I remember when this show was on but I was like 8 and 9. Then I finally got to see L.A. when I was 11.

  • love love love it! Thank you so much for returning sweet memories to my head- what a treat to hear and see this theme song and intro again! It will always be looking gooood!

  • what a handsome hungarican.:-]rip freddie.:-{

  • hungarican is close. his father was actually german. his mother was puerto rican. he was a great comedian and actor. died way too young. only 23.

  • @Hharl1 Same goes to Edward James Olmos of East L.A. was of Hungarian Jewish ancestry (his mother's side), Geraldo Rivera who's Puerto Rican from NYC had a Jewish mother, Shakira from Colombia had a Lebanese father and Salma Hayek from Mexico has a surname common among Middle Eastern groups like Syrians & Armenians. Today, Latinos are a part of American pop culture, yet we speak of Latinos maintained a cultural identity, but usually in their own ethnicity/nationality, not solely as "Latinos". +

  • too bad fredie killed himself that was a sad tragic thing he was a good actor

  • what channel is it on?

  • I'm in Canada, and I have Bell Express Vu. Chico & The Man is on Sun TV, channel 213 on satellite.

  • This is one of my favorite shows ever!!! I love it and watch the re-runs, every afternoon at 1:00.

  • 1:30, sorry.

  • The chemistry between Jack Albertson and Freddie Prinze was undeniably magical. Two great talents who are no longer with us unfortunately. R.I.P Jack and Freddie.

  • Jack was great playing a cantankerous old man. Ed Brown, Grandpa Joe and The character from the movie "The Subject Was Roses" are all cantankerous.
