The persians should have circled around the Greek line with their cavalry and chariots, then have attacked them from the rear. That would have broken the lines, and then the Persians could go after the Greeks with their infantry. You never attack a massive phalanx head on.

That seems kind of strange that Greece had no cavalry, and no archers, although, I know nothing about this battle, that just seems odd. Anyways, love the camera angles.

thats what surprised the Persians as well. the Greeks ran an entire mile twards the larger Persian force and caught them totally off guard and surrounding them on both sides by pretending to retreat in the center and incricling the entire persian force on either side. then the center turned around and kept fighting which crushed the Persians

Indeed. The Greek center first routed, and then rallied, and responded by charging the Persians. They later withdrew from the battle, but the remaining Persians were slaughtered against their boats.

After a few days in standoff,the persian commander gathered most of his army and sailed around the peninsula to Athens.Leaving 12 thousand persians to fight the 11 thousand greeks.The center was thin,but it extended their line so they couldn't be flanked,the wings were then thickened because the persians put their weakest troops on their flanks.So the wings came in and crushed them.Perians lost 6.5k,greeks 192.

During the battle of marathon, the athenian center almost collapsed but the wing held strong and the persian army was driven into confusion.

they had their backs to a small ravine were they had their centers back to the gap so they could lead the persians army back and then allow the flanks to come in and surround and basically demolish the persian army and they let i believe 1000 or so warriors live to go back and report the losses to darius I

Actually your reenactment is incorrect, the Athenians charged not persians.That's what scared the persians the most into running,never have they seen any greece for consisting of hoplites just charge open field at them and wearing armor like the hoplites did;I could imagine it being pretty darn scary.

Also the Persians split their army, half staying merely to hold the Greeks while the other half went to claim the unprotected city of Athens

They still had a larger force then the Greeks. and the other half of the armor was forced to retreat due to their supply lines being cut.

actually its athenian that charged persian .
the Athenian had force to charge persians,or they will be shot down by persian's arrows.The persian army mainly train hard on their bow,secondary is spear.their specialty is archery,not close combat.

options, then it's either under game settings or audio i forget but it's one of those and you can set it to either small,normal,large,huge huge is like 240 people but when you use it keep this is mind mroe people you have the less people you have in your cities when you recruit

They didn't have chariots at Marathon. And the Greeks charged right away to minimise exposure to archery, they didn't just stand there.

i am iranian , let to be reasonable , in present tense who is stronger , iran or greec ? if u r wise would say obvoiusly iran . now iran can capture greec and rome(italy) less than 1 day . we have most progressed weapons in middle east , more over nuclear weapons .but we are peacefull and respect other nations . peace to all abroad
