Great model shipmate. The winds are always flakey in a small pond with trees or buildings. I would be this thing would fly on a lake such as the one I sail Surprise on.
great job man!!! where could I find some plans to build my own rc schooner?? is there any chance to buy any "kit" of some rc "bigsailboat"??? i just became in love on yours...
Neat model Am working on several myself. A stickup rig, sharpie, crabbing skiff, Port Isabelle scow, pound net scow, a New Jersey 2 masted garvey. Want to make a Gulf scow schooner. Having trouble with making the sails. No sewing machine. And, a way to make the lead weight sfor the centerboards. Several of the boats are open and don't want to put any lead inside the boats. In the non sailing. Am working on a Coast Guard surf rescue boat and a RNLB lifeboat.
@jrwel14 Hi, Sorry to hear about your problems with getting the sails made for your boats. Perhaps there is a model boat club near you that can help ?? I spoke with one of the guys in my club about adding some sort of lead ballast, He uses a removable weighted keel, like some of the yachts. If he wants to exhibit his boats, he removes the keel. Once again, a friendly model club may be able to help. Good luck with your build. Eric
@ericwardle Thanks. Also decided to make a 24" carved out sailing board. Like the sunfish. Have plans from 1965 to make a 12 foot one. And, a racing scow. Got plans to make a full size one from Dngoodchild. But, mine will be about 36". Got the other boats from Chappelle's Small sailing craft book and the Smithsonian.
