How could anyone not love Billy Squire. Theres' just something about his music that just give your body a crazy sensation and you can't help your actions when he's on. You can't sit still and be quiet. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE
This was the first video of his released after the superstar ending travesty of a video that was Rock Me Tonite. It was meant to remind people that he was a real and proper rocker - it was a great video and an even better song, but it didn't quite have the intended effect.
Loved Billy in the '80...still love him! Mercury of Queen was such a positive influence on his music and general style. I was so lucky to have been a teen/20-something during this period of music and was able to see him in concert a few times.
Yep 1983..the year I will never forget!! Billy Squier and Ratt - partied after the show with them. The fun memories never fade. To be 17 again and having to fake I was 18 and realizing I was wearing my class ring that was quickly transfered to the purse.
Wow, this is a blast fro mmy past. This live concert footage was filmed at the Philadelphia Spectrum in Sept. of 1983. I was there and briefly shown in the overhead camera crowd shot. Great gig, Ratt opened as I recall...good times.
Yeah that was in 1984, I had just learned to drive and went to see him at the Forum in L.A. and Ratt did open for him. Ratt was good but BS owned them that night.
This was around 1984..Ratt opened up on this tour..I went to see Ratt but Squier blew them off stage..Billy broke a few ribs that night humping the stage "true story"...
I was at this concert back in the late 70's in Philly! Awesome concert...camera panned right over top of us. Billy rocked us out! I hate getting older...the new music just doesn't have it....
I was at the filming of this video in the second row. It was filmed at The Spectrum in Philly. I remember he played the song twice. One time was live and then they said they were gonna do it again and lip-sync to the song. Those were the days. Long Live The 80's!!!!
DAYUM, he was my very first concert when I was 14 years old (I still have the ticket stub, it was like $13.50!!! lmao, times have changed!)..I was showing my 10 year old daughter last night, and now I feel officially old! lol!! Ratt opened back then in 1984, but when Billy came out the crowd went NUTS!!! LOVE Billy!!!
WOWSA!!! I've seen Deep Purple also at the same arena I saw Billy at (Worcester MA Centrum) and they were amazing!! But the tickets sure were not that cheap!!! lol!!!! But I should't complain either, I didn't pay for them!!! ;) Yet I cannot fathom concert tickets being that low in price, MAN!!!
yeah, it was pretty cool! When I was a teen going to concerts was my major pastime. I remember how we all bitched when the price went up to about $7 or $8, LOL, but still, I went to just about every concet that came to town. At that time Pittsburgh was a big stop on the tour routes. Not a MAJOR one, yet many of he big names came here or close enough to get to for a teen on a tigt curfew
dude was that 1991? if so i was there. your comment made me look at my old ticket stubs. what's that place called now? it's a new name every couple years. i can't remember who opened for them and my ticket stub was too faded
Funny you were there. Although I wasn't, I worked with a girl in Auburn Hills during 88-90. She was one of two 16 year old girls who ran onto the stage and grabbed Bily Squier. They got thrown out.
This was my second concert I ever went to. I had seen Ratt just a few months before and then Billy Squier came to Carbondale, IL to play the SIU Arena. I was a freshman so it had to be late 1984 or early 1985. This was the opening song.
As a general rule you should go see anybody your dad likes if he's into Billy Squier. The old rockers who are still on tour are better than seeing anything current.
lol he can take me to any concert he wants. he was able to get the tickets so ima go to the concert wednesday. we arent that far away from the stage. i love a bunch of the current stuff, but theres somethin about older music that always gets me.
Billy Squier was and is such a talent, great voice, great guitar player. I liked all songs off this album, remember getting it in 1984 when it came out. As a rock music fan I especially appreciated Billy's videos, being about the music and showing him on stage with the band. Very different from a lot of other rock videos in the 1980's.
This is a great video, like the begining with shots of Billy's face and then the audience. Another straight up rock song, such good music and vocals. He can sing and play guitar. mcmahls, interesting question. I've been huge fan of both, more Billy with more body of work. Unfortunately I don't think Tommy made many solo albums(only know of one.) So being a fan of Styx or Damn Yankees can influence vote for him.Love both voices, very different but both rock.
Well, I met him recently and he was anything but stuck-up. He was a true gentleman, and a nice guy. Kind of a quiet personality, but really cool. Other people I met at the shows who also talked to him echoed my sentiments. His wife is super nice, too.
Thank you for this video, it is one of my favs ! Rock on Mr. Squier ! I am a child of MTV in the 80's and miss these days as there have never been any better ! Billy Squier, thank you so much for all your fantastic music. Please come to South Carolina !
The memories of the f** video were too strong at the time of this video (the second single of this album). When it came out not even this performance video could cleanse the image of ... well... Oh what the hell. Billy ROCKS. Still... oh dude that video ...
Dude as everu should know purple pants ruled in the 80's so technically if you wore what your wearing now back in his day you would be shunned for being a loser. *0's RULE
Thanks zinfanus, this is a truly great song, perhaps Billy's opus, if you will. He was at the height of his considerable powers when this album came out. I'm glad to hear he's doing well from sampling royalties, he was a real class act and a gentleman from all I've read.
great song, above average artist...lonely is the night is his best song, fuckin judas, sam adams is only good out of the tap, bud light = fuckin amateur beer...fuck yea cubs, de ros,,im hungry
All I can say is you're right, edwardprzdzial...Squier was one of the few that made the 80s fun - not to mention a whole lot of people jealous that they didn't live back then!
Squier did the solo to this song!!!! Brian May did the solo to "Another 1984" which is on this same album Signs Of Life TRUE Squier fans will know this!!!
I got my info about who played what from the liner notes of Reach For The Sky-the Anthology he put out a few years ago. Capitol records put pressure on him to change the credits around so it didn't sound like Queen. That is from Squier himself. I'm right.

My dad was supposively best friends with bills brothers back in wellesly ma. I also agree one of the most under rated boston bands ever
Dhoylandrules84 1 year ago
@Dhoylandrules84 I don't entirely agree.
In Boston, the big four are Aerosmith, Boston, The Cars, and The J Geils Band.
At no 5 is clearly Billy Squier.
Then we have Extreme, Godsmack, Bobby Brown, etc.
