dude ur gunsmith kinda jacked u cuz that barrel is worth like 160-200 brand new depending on the barrel if it chrome lined or not and $50 to change ur barrel out and put on a new gas block is a lot man i would have done it for free its like a 10 minute job if that and anyone can do it. so he basically got a barrel he could sell for like close to $150 for just taking it off ur gun and giving u 2 pmag he prob spent like 12 bucks on tops. ouch dude
That's one awesome gunsmith! Also do you need a gunsmith to take the fixed front iron site off and replace it with a flip up one? I'm still learning here!
I totally understand why you changed out the heavy barrel. I have an RRA Hbar carbine and started adding optics and grips lights etc. Holy crap its heavy now. Your gun in my opinion looked way better before with the standard handguard. Those magpul handguards are ugly as hell.
nice build man. I'm building my first AR right now. i got a 24" H-Bar so I went in a slightly different direction than you did but I defiantly learned a thing or two from this vid that I can put into my next build.
Good selection of parts. Did you change the buffer out? Something to consider for the handguard is a "weapon control mount". It helps with landmarking on the support hand and not as cumbersome as a vertical grip. Good videos. though I hope people get that you improved the quality of the rifle, not just made it look cool.
Dude, cool video, nice build. I just upgraded my Stag to a gas piston system, it came out really good. I do really like the od green with the black, very nice!!
@xXGMonsterXx9 i have ATF paper work pending for two months now...! i made a retro version of the colt commando SMG (11.5inch), with A2 upper and lower, but with retro type furniture and flash hider. vid coming up when i get my tax stamp! thanks for watching
@xXGMAN1997Xx depending on your state ar 15 laws your best bet is to either go to dpms or del ton but delton's inventory is always either out of stock or on backorded
The rear bus you had on originally was an a.r.m.s L40 I believe. It's a great rbus, don't know why you dismissed it. They've made quality products for years. Unless yours was broken, I think you probably could have used the money for other upgrades.
Hey man nice looking ar. Im planing on building one. Not sure if i want to go with a light weight barrel or not tho. Is it as strong? Also is it a big difference in thickness?
@APatrioticRebel the biggest thing i've noticed is the weight for sure, and cool down time is really fast on lightweight barrels, after rapid fire. like i've said in pt:1, a heavy barrel would be sweet in a 20inch ar 15. i don't like heavy carbines, i think it defeats the definition of the word. plus i have to carry it.
@barnettzack I was wondering the manufacturer of the fold down front sight that you placed on your rifle. I have a Sightmark reflective & Im looking to get a fold down for a back up set of sights. If you could let me know that be sweet....
Can you tell me exactly what front and rear sights you used here (model/make etc) and also let me know if you are still happy with them if still running with them? Thanks in advance!
Nothing wrong with Olympic rifles, I have yet to use the metal MagPul trigger guard, I put the polymer ones on all builds and have yet to have a problem on many brands of lowers.
love the looks of your gun. Im looking at getting an bushmaster ar15 and doing black/dark earth. do you have any suggestions on ar15 markers ? i live in canada and can only own semiautos unless i start competing an then i can get fully automatics
@Captmorgann well i don't know anything about canadian gun laws and the ar 15... but as far as manufacturer's go, almost anyone with a forged lower should be good. this gun is a olympic arms and i don't recommend there products.(lots of fitment issues) i'm building a DEL-TON ar 15, but i'm still having some problems with products and customer service. so i don't recommend them either. i have used a lot of DPMS parts that were all great! so the next lower i buy will be from them.
@barnettzack thanks for the reply. Yah in canada you can get a prohibited firearms license which allows you to own fully automatics. I personally would never want one if anything ide like something that has 3 round burst
@Captmorgann Don't know if your looking still for an AR, but the best companies out there for sure have to be either Rock River arms (go with the entry tactical if you choose them), Bushmaster, Ruger's SR-556 (it's piston driven which means the bolt and carrier group stays cooler, just watch the hand guard), or Armalite (they made the first ar, which stands for Armalite Rifle btw). In my experience those three are the best in both reliability and accuracy in my years of shooting.
@Captmorgann as far as I know you CANNOT own let alone shoot Full automatics as they are listed under the Prohibited list, To me that stupid but we live in a stupid on guns country. PM me with any questions and I will try to find you the answers or I could tell you right off the bat if its something that I know well.
U could save a lot of money if u do the barrel change urself. It really isn't that hard all u need is a barrel nut wrench which costs about $25.00 + tax. But knowing that u got those P-mags is also a great deal.
@StarkTony8 yep, i understand its not difficult to swap out a barrel. but i only needed to do it the once on the only ar 15 i own. p-mags were a big plus :) thanks for watching and thank you for your service to our country.
@Barragemike no, nothing like that. the only issues i've had were using a GI surplus mag, weak spring i think. the only types of ammo i've used were remington, brown bear, and my own reloads. i've shot about 1500 rounds through my olympic AR 15. thanks for watching
We'll that all worked out for you, you got all the work done and 2 pmags for the barrel can't go wrong with that. And at 4.20 you look so happy when you lift up your ar like opening a present on christmas morning..lol Nice job
The MOE line from magpul is adaptable for whatever you want to put on it. Attatchment slots at 10 ,12 ,2 and 6 oclock orientation, so you can mount the magpul rail sections wherever. I have a sig sauer STL900L on the front6 and a magpul vert too. They have light kits for it that add pressure switch frames and come with rails to mount it also.I chose the ctr stock and am very happy with it as well. Try the magpul mvg vert and hold your weapon just like you would hold the magwell, thumb up along
Hey man I came across your video and saw you installed a MOE Enhanced Handguard. I'm looking to buy one for a friend and subscriber of mine but I have a question for you. Have you tried installing the Magpul polymer rails on it yet and tried attaching accessories??? I'm just curious if they work well for attachments, that way I don't waste money on it for my friend if it doesn't work all that well. Thanks man, you should come check out some of my things on my channel.
@MustyYetisTacticalHQ i have not purchased them as of yet, but i would like to run a weapon light at some point. i do wish the magpul rails were made out of aluminum. the hand guard is nice and thick to grip, much better then the old plastic GI style. thanks for watching.
@MustyYetisTacticalHQ hey musty love your videos you gave me a better look at what color i wanna go with on my m4 to answer your qeustion there easy to instal the rails and the people who have them love them me personally like my quad rail
@tinenine1 Thanks a lot man. That's why I do my videos, in hopes that they will help people. Thanks for the heads up on the Magpul's polymer rails. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy them as a gift for a buddy of mine.
@rllang01 thank you for all the nice words. my eotech (512) is kinda heavy, weight is almost 1 pound with lightweight lithium batteries, i like the new smaller one they make, but i don't want to spend the money on it just yet. thanks for watching!
@ShadowsOfMisfortune yep both made by YHM. as said in part 1. they zero and adjust, just like standard A2 sights. accuracy is good at 100yrds, i haven't got to shoot is past that just yet.
Awesome! Looks like a very tastefully customized AR. I don't like super modded-out guns with quad rails and all kinds of crap hanging off. BTW, I need to find a gunsmith that can get things done in 7 hours! My regular one take more like 7 months.

Excellent videos ! Thanks for the effort to film your mod's.
You're absolutley right about the heavy barrel, its only good if your shooting from the bench, it wont give any advantage in a defensive situation.
And all the "cool" stuff hanging from a RIS/RAS is just a bunch of dead weight !
A red dot sight is the only addition that gives a better advantage. IMHO
