  • Your beautiful birman looks exactly like my cat, Big Fulla. I got him from the NZ SPCA as an unkempt pedigree, a lynx-point with blue eyes. I had him for 10 years & fattened him up to 8.5 kgs. I put him to rest 2 years ago which absolutely crippled me. Watching your pet brings back tears & pain. He was spoilt rotten. All the neighbours loved him too. His ashes are in a carved wooden urn which is placed in a genuine coffin I purchased. He's kept in my room. I'm a guy who loves birmans & Persians.

  • All I want is for mine to come when called. He ignores me all teh time except for feeding time. But on his own terms he will come and want some loving.

  • hello mister kitty, how do you do?? Lovely weather we're having! hehe he's soo cute!!

  • stunning cat!

  • he's so sweet!!!!

  • he's soooooo cute! he's like, 'do i have to?'

  • Our birman girl is a Seal-Tortie-tabby point

    she's so adorable!!!

  • Real nice. lovely cat. i taught my seal point Coogeebear to shake hands to as you can see in the pics when i sing. You obiviously connect well with him. wonderful.

  • he`s so cute!!!

we'll get our birman in august.can't wait!!

I love blue point, chocolate point, seal point and seal tabby the most!!<3333

  • shake a pawn!

  • Aww... is it a seal tabby point? I have one just like that. Actually tried to get him to shake a paw after watching this vid. He just looked at my hand and made a sound that can only be interpreted as "You´ve got to be "/&#&/% kidding me!"

  • Yes, he is a seal tabby (linx)! He gave me the same look until he realized treats were involved! That's the trick, take his paw in your hand, say shake a paw, then give him a treat...eventually they catch on. Good luck! :)

  • beautiful cat ♥

  • That is awesome! good job teaching that! :)

  • questo gatto è preciso al mio!!!complimenti veramente bello...

  • Grazie!!!

  • @CanSerba30 you've got a amazing beautiful cat! :o

  • Two Questions:

    1. If a cat's whiskers grow too long, will it be all right to trim them or will this cause the cat pain?

    2. With trimmer whiskers, will a cat be able to enter a narrower space that it could not earlier? (Reason for this qn. was I heard that if a cat's whisker fit a space, then it could sqeeze its whole body through.)

  • My cat is really smart, but after some years trying to teach him to lend me the paw I finally gave up!!

By the way, he is able to open doors, he rolls on the kitchen's carpet when is happy, but no way he learnt to shake the paw.

Your kitty is really beautiful & clever as well.

  • Why do cats like Birmans, Maine Coons etc. have a stylised "M" on their foreheads?

  • Good Question! I'm assuming it's just part of the lynx point pattern.

  • my birman doesn't listen to me -.-

  • Try this trick if you want to teach your birman to shake a paw. Buy some treats that he really likes, then before you give him one say "shake a paw" and lift his paw in your hand at the same time. Then give him the treat. It will take about a week of doing this a few times every day. Animals are all about food! Good luck.

  • so then you lied in the discription saying "You will notice, no food was used to bribe him into performing!" but now you say all this AND your other repy said you bribed him! Thus the cat is "tricked" into thinking it will get treats and HAS been bribed at one time or another. Therefore, no smarter than any other dog, cat, monkey or fish! Also, some would say you are baing mean to the cat NOT giving the treats he "performed" for, douchebag!

  • Actually, I didn't "lie" in saying that he wasn't bribed because he doesn't do it just because I have a treat in my hand. He does it because he recognizes the words "shake a paw". That was my point in proving that a cat is smart enough to recognize human language! Also, I do give him treats after he performs a few times but do not show him the treats beforehand. The cruel language is unnecessary and not very nice from someone who claims to read the bible.

  • whatever. you know nothing about animals then. I've had many cats and dogs, all do the same thing wether or not i say something. its trained to the action or sounds, not by words. you can speak jive to the cat, as long as it has the same sylibal sounds, and tone it will do that. go read up on it

  • And you know nothing about human kindness. What your problem is with me, I can't figure out. If that is your theory on pets, then fine, but I don't mistreat my pets as you implied and I definately don't attack anyone I don't know just to prove a point.

  • Beautiful cat!

  • it sortof doesnt prove u didnt bribe him because you were only filming him

  • I used to have to bribe him when I had originally taught him, but now he just recognizes the phrase "shake a paw" and automatically does it.

  • Smart and cute!
