Glad to see this up here. It seems they do not this one live anymore and it is one of my favorites! Maybe they did it when I saw them sometime in the early-mid 80's, but I cannot remember for sure (too long ago).
the way they lace the Fun with something menacing or uncontrollable...a brilliant aspect of their art. I saw them in '78 in Boston, before they'd hit. Jaw-dropping. Definitely the sense that a new era was underway.
This song is about cheering up Cindy Wilson's character, who at first has the blues bad lamenting a lost love and feeling as unwanted as a lump of stinky sneeker cheese. Suddenly, this fabulously friendly and fun man and woman come up to her and get her to shake it all out and have a blast dancing all kinds of silly dances and not being so serious. She stops for a second to note how much better she feels forgetting about her problems and they say "what problems?" and she says, good point!
That America died when the people decided the population needed to be obedient and stupid. Easier for the elite bloodlines to enjoy THEIR planet when we're all working so hard for them. They don't like us having any, yes, ANY time to ourselves, and earning anything, even a small business is just maddening to them!
yeah it's a short run, but cindy's vocals at the beginning are supreme, the most american sounding lyrics ever. "walk, talk, in the name of love" wow, where did that america dissappear to ?
Fred has a big box of toys and gadgets that he uses throughout the shows! The B-52's rarely disappoint and have perfected many of their songs over the years...The last show I was at was in centerfield of Tropicana Field after a Rays game in 2009 and they Rocked the place!..
I saw them in 82 or 83. This must be the same tour. This is exactly how they were. Same outfits, hairdos, little piano. Best concert I've ever been to. Arlington Theater, Santa Barbara, California. Seeing this bring all the memories flooding back. Kate, Cindy, Fred, Ricky and Keith. Thanks you guys! Damn, the best ever!!
@phreakyphriday These guys aren’t a studio band, which put in all kinds of artsy stuff by synthetic editing. No way! They do all their stuff for real, LIVE!
I always thought that that weird tinkling sound was some synthetic nonsense. NO, I WAS WRONG!
The lead male vocal, was playing a 3 year old’s toy piano into his microphone. Awesome.
Read a previous comment about them being fron Atlanta;Thay are actually from Athens Georgia, which is about 60 to 70 miles from Atlanta proper and not part of the Atlanta metro area either.Athens is not your typical southern town by any means, much more progessive due to the university of georgia being there and consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States.
never forget this concert, I met my German freundin there Gabriela Kramer
