  • Nice, so I'm guessing you make your students learn the traditional grip also!

  • I'm speechless. AWESOME

  • killer left hand

  • Okay. When I posted the other comment I had only watched about half of the video. So I felt compelled to comment again after watching the rest. It's neat to see how different drummers have different techniques which result in different sounds or patterns or beats. What I'm trying to say is, I could hear your unique voice. Even though it was only 5 min long I heard some things that I personally had never heard B4. It did remind me of a little Buddy, Bellson, & Bonham, but w/a twist. Just opinion.

  • Wow! At first I wasn't going to leave a comment, but then you really got it going after the hi-hat/ride cymbal "intro" so I had to log in & say "great drumming." I especially like the licks at approx. 2:10 through 2:30. Don't get me wrong, I liked the whole thing, but the rhythm of those particular licks really caught my hear. Thanks for sharing your video and keep up the good work.

  • i have those cymbals.

  • Billy,

Can you tell me some tips for a new frumer that wants to be as good as you??

    Chris

  • This is fantastic! btw, are those drums ring-muffled?

  • so metal!

  • dude why arent u in a band u are amazing at drums

  • Great left hand. Check out a vid or two of mine. I think you'll like. I really enjoy your playing. Never seen someone get that far w/ the left hand while keeping the ride beat together. Looks like I'll be practicing that. Ever heard Joe Cusatis?

  • Being a friend of B A Stella and a frequent visitor to his store/studio, I can tell you all that 1. this kit is highly muffled - he uses it for teaching purposes, so NO you'd not hear him out playing gigs with a kit sounding like this - AND this is just a sample of his chops - - by the way Billys DAD was an amazing drummer as well !

  • u need symbols

  • I am a 16 year old drummer and have been drumming now for about 6 years, i am a very heavy screamo listener because of there speed and double bass drumming but i can definitely see where metal came from jazz.

  • such a swinging beat

  • Comment removed

  • @SonorSonicFan Maybe he likes it that way.

  • @SonorSonicFan lol............I guess you never heard of drum lessons. He is a Drum instructor in my area and this is a kit he gives lessons on. You really like to sit in a small room with full on stadium kit? Better invest in hearing aids...

  • @swgeorge - My comment was that he was a very good player, but that the drums didn't sound very good in the clip. They don't. The fact that he is a drum instructor in your area, or that this is his teaching room, is irrelavent. I was entertained enough to watch the clip, so I must have enjoyed his playing. However, if he was going to make a clip for youtube, maybe it would be more interesting if he took the muffling off the kit, for five minutes while the camera was recording.

  • check out Joe Morellos books, I think they're called Master Studies I and II. They'll help you get hand chops like Mr. STella.

  • crazyy mannnn. i like your style!

  • i like it this guy hay crazy jazz chops

  • that snare is fucking amazing

  • Wasnt expecting that lol

    Nice work

  • damn... watching people drum like this makes me realize i suck....

  • @toxical1ty

I thought i was the only one who felt that way

  • Dotted eights and sixteenths, and swung triplets rule all. Joey Jordison can take his sixtyforth notes and shove 'em straight up his non-swingin' ass.

  • so real drummers do exist? this guy hears it.

  • so sad that i saw this video under Travis Barker's and his has 100,000+ views and this has 15,000+ view

  • NOt gonna lie i just came a little

  • holy crap, dude.... want to start praying to you

  • I like the wall with all the cymbals hanging on it. This just inspired me.

  • 3 people have no other skills other than playing MW2 with noob tubes.

  • hes a clean drummer i like his stuff

  • That's a perfect example of how metal drummers got their influence from jazz drummers. ROOTS! :) amazing solo btw.

  • Nice. Traditional grip, jazzish......not bad......Dont you go dyin on my grandpa

  • bill i put a video of you playing on my facebook page i made it just for drummers. just go to facebook and type DRUMMERS PAGE .

  • Pretty interesting.

  • Fantastic Buddy Rich one-handed roll man. It's almost flawless. And nice bass work too. I know I'm gonna be the critical jerk right now, and this was amazing, don't get me wrong, but I'm just saying that if you really slowed down a little and worked on the complexity of the groove instead of using speed as your primary secret weapon, then that would really take you to the next level. Check out some of Johnny Rabb's stuff for inspiration. And I did think it was awesome! Just food for thought. :)

  • I'm not worthy

  • drums sound like ...well...they dont sound like drums! they sound like a car from 1962

  • Dragspelarn23...work on tempo? get your ears checked.

  • bad cymbals for jazz

  • everyone one check out gcp garage band and leave me a comment on all of them please

  • exelent drumming......

  • nice playing... +1 for improv/solo videos on the net. XD

    <

  • wow. i have so much respect for drummers that have a TINY set but make it sound like they're playin a 7 piece set.

  • Nice left hand playing!:) maybe little more working on tempo.

  • wat the frank

  • just goes to show what you can do if you know your stuff. RUDIMENTS BABY!!!!!!! NO NEED FOR ALL THESE 20 PIECE DRUM KITS? a four piece kit makes you learn how to do all that stuff you did on a 20 piece , just re-grouped and scaled down!!! this dude has got got buddy rich chops!!! done! i've spoke my peace..... tell me what you think?

  • You need to put videos up on your technique.

  • Just wondering where are you at in the Us

I see you have old drum stuff

    I am in Memphis ,Tn

  • That's the store kit I take it?

  • very cool. let's jam!

  • complete opposite of bozzio.

  • THAT went straight to my favorites lol.!! Nice

  • This just proves you don't need a fucking HUGE kit to sound amazing

  • very impressive! i hate that kit though

  • is that a jazz set

  • Good GOD in heaven this mans hand technique is fucking amazing! Why isnt he endorsed? someone call DW and get this man a $30K kit stat cause he clearly deserves one.

  • Isn't that Zildjian's new Pitch Black series cymbals?

  • @dustobusto

    Sadly, yes.

  • this guy makes me laugh

  • Finally, it's nice to someone else at the top of "Drum Solo" search besides Travis Barker and Joey Jordison, amazing solo man!

  • WOW..absolutly amazing..

  • Drum size is just a drummer's way of compensation. This guy has a small kit and he's a total BAMF, he doesn't need 50 drums to make a cool solo. IMO this was great, the beginning was a tad slow though.

  • Little buddy rich?

  • brilliant! wow!

  • your a pro drummer (:

  • the intro was kinda gay but thats crazy!!

  • If i buy die cast hoops for my snare do i have to put them on both sides ?

  • i liked everything but the cymbals

  • wow i thought my favorite speed metal drummers were fast but this guys crazy and hes not playin a giant ass niel purt set hes doin it on tht tiny set

  • @jaseswinconos dude neither does neil, he has videos of him doing amazing drum solos on small kits, look up "neil peart buddy rich memorial concert", by the way this comment is strictly towards jaseswinconos, im not dissing this guy, because this guy rules, nice drum solo.

  • @jaseswinconos Blast beats are simple. Its not that technical with metal, sounds good dont get me wrong....but its nothing to pride over. Its drummers like these that have control and fuse it in like this that make is cool.

  • @jaseswinconos It's never about how flashy and how much shit you can fit in your drum set, it's about how you play with what you got.

  • this is freaking amazing.

  • thats was Amazing.

  • Hey Billy, when's your next gig???

  • Hes good!!!!

  • TOP DRUM SOLO GREAT,,,,,,

  • wOw !! No words..

  • look at around 0:39 he turns the drumstick while hitting and the turns it back for the next hit

  • Hahaha thats crazy

  • Even God can't drum this good. This guy is amazing.

  • You are one hell of a drummer. I have watched all your videos and I am also an admirer. What you do behind that drum set is just totally incredible. I have seen you play in New York and also in Connecticut and just watching this video just gives me goose bumps. What a fantastic drummer, and a nice person you really are. You are so caring and kind and awfully funny. I am very very glad I know you!

  • I'm officially an admirer!....

  • What planet did you come from? You sir are incredible. I watched all 6 of your videos. You are just great!

  • Love those "ZILDJIAN" cymbals you are using. Man can you play a set of drums. I am really impressed. I was told about you from a few different people and i wanted to see you play for myself. My GOD, where did you learn to play a set of drums like that?? You make it look so easy!

  • Man where do you come from. Your playing is so awesome. Where does that left hand come from? I have seen some drummers in my time but WOW you are something else. I love your on and off beat patterns and your timing is impeccable. You are really one fantastic drummer. I would go to great lengths to see you play. The patterns in which you stop & start are just great. You take that drum set and just make it your own. INCREDIBLE!!!

  • So Bill where can i pick up that left hand that you got? WalMart or Target? haha amazing one again wow!
