  • @izzymafe Nationalism, shining example...

  • not like china, they forced Tibetan government and some monks to flee their motherland and they killed allot of Tibetans almostly extincted civilization

  • I don't condone the atrocities of the Philippine Insurrection, or any other U.S. War. However, it's very annoying that the highest rated comment isn't factual at all. The U.S. wasn't atrocious in China, in Japan (the irony), Korea (where we were fighting for the Koreans), Iraq (where warcrimes were severely punished, often with death) or Afghanistan (this is just silly. Drone strikes aren't intended to kill civilians). . If you want to challenge my claims, please bring factual evidence.

  • Around 1 million Filipinos dead from 1899 to 1902? Why, that is a small version to the Holocaust, with 6 million Jews dead from 1939 to 1945!

And why have we - and the world - forgotten? Why do we keep on being very bitter with the Germans about the Holocaust, when Americans set the precedent? My gosh.

  • @davearjie massacred philippinese are forgotten for the simple fact that they were not equally important as the jews of the holocaust. jews are special because they are the chosen people of god and it wasn't okay what hitler did to them and yet it's okay for them to commit the same crime against the palestines. and america can always justify it's action no matter how bad it is for the simple reason that who ever is might can always make it right.

  • @igorbolsheviks88 i'm guessing your an activist to the point that you don't even know who we are. let me ask you sir, what do you really know about us? How can you say you can justify your country when you can't justify your blossoming words? Oh yes, WE are barbarians, but in the world's history, who hasn't been a descendant of one? do you even know and respect what you're roots are? I implore you to question yourself first before you even trying to blab about MY country.

  • @Blade15 i believe you should learn the difference between "your" and "you're" before even questioning the opinion of others.

  • @davearjie actually it's 1,500,000 dead jews. may GOD punish the nazis and what they believe as aryan race(although aryans are persians)

  • @kababayanC2 oh! you mean to say "as savage", my bad, i thought you said "are sewage", sorry.

  • who is portraying the philipinese as sewage?

  • filipino is the name used for your people when your country was called filipinas, but since the name of your country was renamed to philippines, the people became philippinese.

  • sorry that is politically incorrect. We are Pilipino, we do not have an F in our vocabulary thanks.

  • @Marykriz - FYI - The new FIlipino alphabet has an F in it. Also a C, J, Ñ, Ng, Q, V, X and Z. It has been so since 2001.

  • @dassenach well idont follow the new alphabet. i bet you dont even know the alibata.

  • @Marykriz - As Calvin Coolidge once succinctly said, "You lose."

  • @igorbolsheviks88 This is the stupidest thing I've read in quite a while. It was never renamed Philippines - that is an Anglicization of " Filipinas". "Philippinese" is the bizarro equivalent of a Filipino insisting that Americans be called Kano, since the USA is called Amerika in the Filipino language. How jingoistic can one get.

  • Comment removed

  • @dassenach to think that there is a word "stupidest" is the most stupid of all.

  • @igorbolsheviks88 What can I say - sometimes the most amazing comments on YT require neologisms. Necessity is truly the mother of invention, da?

And the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language disagrees with you, so there! XP

  • @igorbolsheviks88 - Anal, aren't we? [*snicker*]

  • @igorbolsheviks88 - Вы тролль, не так ли? Я в поисковой системе Google, и Вам уже брехня дерьмо. Спасибо! LOLOLOL

  • @dassenach para kang tangang naka sabit sa punong mangga

  • @bonkengbon - Cryptic for the sake of being cryptic. Happy now? Smoke that in your crack pipe, loser.

  • would you allow a negro mulato african from congo to be president of philippines? tell the truth.

  • @Rico8458 it's not the question of whom you allow to be the president but it's what your constitution required to be the president. and if you want me to tell the truth ... the truth is you are so dumb to be asking such question.

  • actually you are right, the yanks have ruin our island with all these illegal immigrant aliens we have to suffer with domiicans, haitians, cubans, and now hindu and chinese who now live on our island and we dont want them here. however, america now is paying for her sins with hussein obama negro muslim president. lol.

  • @Rico8458 americans elected obama to be their president and to say that they are paying because the president is a black man is just absurd.

  • yeah, but we been living like kings ever since while you looking for green card to come here? lol.

  • your living like kings because the yanks are wiping your ass because you can't do it yourself!!! LOL!!!

  • you see i am puerto rican so the worst thing that happen to us and the american indians was that the south lost the civil war because after that the north started the spanish american war. we been huring ever since. lol.

  • unlike the philippinese, you puerto ricans didn't even had the courage to wage a war against the americans, so i really don't think you have the reason to complain.

  • they called it the white man's burden? lol. today the white man has lost to the chinese. this is a good report.

  • in what way the chinese won over the white man?

  • William James, Mark Twain, & the other members of the defunct American Anti-imperialist League embodied the noblest aspirations of the real American dream. But to most greedy & pretentious politicians at that time, it was all politics & economics as it is today in Iraq & Afghanistan. American foreign policy has nothing to do with democracy & god. We now know your games hypocrites! Not anymore! Fuck off!

  • Well, you can call that politics. It's their vacuous games (I guess your country's game too). I wonder why you single single us out. The "you philippines" in your comment surely doesn't apply to me. I am not the Philippines. If some people in my country behave like an idiot, nor all of us here do. So don't make hasty generalization. I'm surely doing something about it. But killing Americans is NOT one of them. Why? Because I'm not an idiot.

  • you people ive read your posts through. I can see that none of you lack any points. Its just that, all these differences of views they will no longer matter when we all come to the end of the road. Being a Filipino is neither a bad thing nor puts me on advantage in any way. The same thing being a Russian. We were not given a chance to choose the race we are born with, even so we got to live with it.

  • rizal deserve to be a hero for he show that humans should not be against any flesh, but he was against power, he used hes mind to awaken the filipinos, heroism doesnt signify that u should kill envaders, heroism doesnt require violence, andres can be too, , but we need only one!

  • that's why there had been plans to change rizal as philippine national hero. he's never been a hero. the real hero was andres bonifacio. i wish born at that time. BLOODSHED

  • that's "i wish i was born at that time"

  • I am an american and I mainly agree with you.. U.S. may have not started the majority of wars but they started ALOT for there own financial gain......

  • racial discrimination...

  • The Amount of information was great, the pictures and the pace in which they were shown too. Furthermore, the way things were presented were jsut fine. But, i must say, I found the audio could've been a bit louder. That's all. Thanks for sharing.

  • Why call it an insurrection? A Filipino republic was already functional, administering to 93% of the territory and 94% of the population. Unable to proceed beyond the city of Manila, the Americans provoked their former allies, the Filipinos, into a war to justify American intervention and destruction of the Filipino republic. History books failed to say that the Americans butchered the Filipinos into submission and dismantled their government in order that the U.S. flag can fly in the Phil.

  • 93%, 94%? you disregarding the southern parts, the muslim mindanao which is not yet part of the philippine government? what are they 1 or 2%? as far as i could remember our country was not fully liberated that time, taking back my history lessons in my HS and my research from my sources. 93-94% of philippine territory liberated during the birth of the first republic? yeah right!

  • The percentages compare Filipino-held territories vis-a-vis American and the population in those territories. Please read Agoncillo's "Memorial to the United States Senate", a document justifying the right of the Filpino government to foreign recognition, which was ignored by the U.S. State Department and the peace commissioners at the treaty of Paris.

  • Insurrection my ass!

Calling the Philippine's struggle for independence from the invading Americans an 'insurrection' only makes my nationalistic blood boil.

  • you are too late to whine, you should have told the americans it wasn't an insurrection during the war, now what good it's gonna do to you that you found out that it wasn't an insurrection at all? and don't talk like philippinese like you have some sense of nationalism because the truth is you people don't have. you just love saying that you are nationalist to give yourselves the feeling of patriotism but the truth is you philippinese are liars to your own selves.

  • Your about that.......the yanks stoled our independance!!!! And killed untold thousands of Pinoys

  • @JCaguin in actuality it was the yanks who granted philipines her independence after they purchased you from the spaniards.

  • Bullshit we had independance from spain within reach until those yanks came in and made a secret deal allowing spain to leave in return for the possesion of my country. What followed was the Philippine - American War.

  • @JCaguin "indpendence within reach" is not the same as "independence" per se, you didn't win the war to the fullest extent because the americans and spaniards screwed you from behind.

  • No shit sherlock!!!! You don't think we're fully aware of this? The so called freedom loving democracy the yanks stand for is a joke!!!!

  • @JCaguin be it a joke but the americans are living in democracy and you don't, they don't have to provide democracy to any nation but themselves, you have to earn and work for your own domocracy.

  • No Shit!!! Why do you think we fought them after the spanish??? We actually modeled our constitution after the amercians until those yanks as you say "screwed us"!!!!

  • @JCaguin if american democracy is a joke as you prediously stated why pattern your constitution on their's, now who is the real joke?

  • American democracy became a joke after it showed it's real intnetions, my ancestors in first fight for independance from spain were inspired what america has achieved.....and try to emulate it but the yanks backstab us........and so violated the very principle it supoose to represent!! My question to you russian is why are you intersted in this particular subject? Russia was never involved? Are a you a yank pretending tobe russian or truly russian?

  • @JCaguin you failed to outsmart the americans and now you accuse them of backstabbing. you failed to achieve any form of democracy now you call their democracy a joke. but despite all your mistrust you still keep trying to emulate the white people and everytime you fail you put the blame on them, when you phillippinese gonna learn to take responsibilities on your own?

  • You just enjoy being a aryan biggot not worth my time!!! This is just a mockery for you!!

  • @JCaguin why it has to be racism everytime a philippinese hear something they don't want to hear?

  • Your not taking this particular subject seriously in fact you sound more of annoyance wanting attention. Correct me if I'm wrong? Are you truely russian or a yank? How much do you know about the Philippines american war? Is this acedemic for you or racial bias against Filipinos?

  • @JCaguin and i don't think you are serious either since most if not all of your comments are off the historical facts and full of inconsistencies. perhaps that's the reason why you want to talk about my intention to derail the subject and hide your ignorance of your own history.

  • So are you the expert in this subject matter yank/russian or are you just pesky 21 yr old who thinks he knows alot? LOL!!!

  • @JCaguin i didn't say i am the expert but if you think i am i will take it as a compliment. why are you LOL when nothing is funny at all?

  • New World Order in the Philippines is here...now US military base was replace economic control by deploy foreign investors.

  • salamat sa pag upload mo nitong history sa Pinas at least may makikita na tayong history sa youtube.

  • if i'm not mistaken... you showed the wrong flag dude... thats the current flag...

  • this whole damn thing is only for luzon and the tagalogs. we from the visayas and mindanao have revolutions on our own. we were never part of this so-called "Tagalog Republic" its only a thing done by those selfish imperialist who only like to look down on their countrymen. free visayas and mindanao from your imperialistic clutches tagalog racist imperialist pigs. you are no worse compared to the japanese, spaniards, americans combined. take a look at our country nowadays!!!

  • Dec 28, 1898, U.S. Gen Miller with 2,500 troops attempted to land in Ilolio City. They were prevented by Gen Delgado who said that without the authority from Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo, Gen Miller cannot disembark his troops. Before this incident, the Filipino flag flew in Iloilo City after the Filipinos rebels took over when the Spaniards abandoned it. See malolosrepublicdotblogspotdotcom.

  • The showed pictures from WWII(Bataan) that had nothing to do with the commentary. Aside from that it was okay.

  • If you feel differently on anything I have said here, please send me a message or reply here, it has been over a year now since we did the research and editing of this movie, but I think I could refresh my memory a bit if there has been a misunderstanding anywhere in this doc. or my comments. Please however, I'm asking just for constructive criticism (or any compliments) because I would like to keep the message of our video the most important thing, not someone trolling for a pissed off Logan!

  • the female narrator talks too fast. annoying to listen to her. listen to WILL LYMAN to get an idea of narration speed.

  • However, that was not the reason for making the doc.

We debated long and hard over the title for our documentary, and we chose 'Philippine Insurrection' because and insurrection is a violent uprising against an authority or government. That was (what we felt) a perfect (or nearly perfect) way to describe what was happening, I feel that in no way did we take sides in this doc. as we tried to keep it purely informational (hence it being a doc. not a propaganda tool).

  • Hey there all! I'm actually Logan, one of the two people who made this, [Mr. Zimmer was not one of them, just a pal who put it up for us] and no we didn't make it to nationals, we lost out to a group that had a very bias doc. on the use of napalm in the vietnam war.

My nationality, as well as my partners is 'American', and thank you for everyone who commented on how similar this was to the current Iraq war, thats something we tried to convey in the end.

  • u.s.marines got their throats slit, cut in the PHILIPPINES. they added leather collar in their uniform and so the term 'leathernecks' came about. FREEDOM is not for american government to give, filipinos EARNED it.

  • The leather collar was part of the uniform from 1775 to 1875. The Philippine-American War was 1899 to 1902.

  • 3combo everything you said is true!

  • @3combo Thoes leather collars were issued to Marines on an annual basis starting in 1798. Long before any Marine set foot on the Philippines. Considering that Presley O'bannon raised the first American flag on foreign soil during the Barbary War, (1801-1805), in no way did they start wearing the leather collars because of the Filipino's in the Philipinne-American War (1899-1902). Though the Filipino Marines wear almost a complete replica of the U.S. Marine Dress Uniform.

  • Mr. Zimmer, only the americans called it an insurrection. Insurrection means rebellion or mutiny from an authority you vowed loyalty to. Never did the Filipinos pledge allegiance to the empire building americans. You should revise the video title to "Philippine Fight for Freedom" and NOT "Insurrection". The american media now call the Iraqi Freedom fighters as insurgents, i ask you -- did they pledge allegiance to the americans for them to be called mutineers or insurgents?

  • Did you miss the subtle point of "presented by Logan Ohs and Lauren Pudenz"?

  • the iraqi insurgents are religious fanatics who dont deserve the titled "freedom fighter" the moros where also for the most part, religious fanatics who had declared jihad on america in 1903.

  • no matter how justified your argument may sound and if you have no power to make your claim right it wouldn't be right because in the real world it is always the might that can make things right.

  • @whangs no matter what title you call the blog, history will never change... philippinese will always be losers.

  • @igorbolsheviks88 losers ?? hahaha...we're never be a loser u know why ??

because we ain't afraid...we always fight for our freedom, even we are 1 of the corrupt country, and we're always stand up! and speak up for our rights! u dont know us and our backround and history! you are the big looser not the philippines!

  • @StilongKayumanggi206 fight for your freedom? you philippinese people never had freedom, you have been occupied by foreign aggressors all your history and to this time you are still owned by america. philippinese are subjects not citizens, your independence was granted not won so in reality you are not free people.

  • @igorbolsheviks88 let me clear you something...that some filipinos are not like what u think! and im an acive member of underground movement in philippines! we know everything...and we know that not all in the books are true! we had the real rare copy videos that can proove everything alright ?? and correction not philippinese it spells '' philippines '' we are one of the greatest freedom fighter around asia! put that in your mind and i can say not all filipinos! we have 1 love 1 unity if needed

  • @StilongKayumanggi206 if you are the greatest freedom fighters in asia how can you justify that until this very day philippinese are not free people?

  • @igorbolsheviks88 this is such a waste of time for me...probably u're enjoying arguing people here in utube! haha...what is your profession ?? do u want me to give my address and lets meet and talk in person ?? i can justify and explain to you more! but not here in utube...coz' im not lyk you alright ??

  • @igorbolsheviks88 hey i forgot...please learn how to spell okei ?? becoz your spelling is always fucked up...how many time do i need to tell you '' philippines '' its not philippese stupid...u ain't got nothing against us, believe me boy! even in wisdom, principle, beliefs, happiness, and everything! put that in your mind.

  • @igorbolsheviks88 The Philippines only gained its freedom because WE Americans FINALLY realized that the Philippines was the only reason why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.

  • @Xellossu i suggest you learn the facts before you open your mouth.

  • Why was there a picture of a 'filipino' with an American Indian Headgear? And trying to portray the natives as savages when at this time 95% were already devout Catholics. In fact the local churches were already the center of a town's life. Spain already 'trasformed' or 'ravaged' the people for 300 yrs for that. I guess somebody can do that again today with the right media conditioning.

  • Look at it this way, before colonialization, there were already nations in the Philippines, the most influential ones were Lǚsòngguó (呂宋國), nowadays Luzon the Sultanate Maguindanao, nowadays Mindanao and the kingdoms of Viskaya, nowadays Visaya.

These guys even had their own scripts.

But, people don't really seem savage if they're organized and are literate, right? So, the Americans and Spanish just stated them to be "monkeys", making them exotic and wild.

  • very inhuman kind of people,,,they are very drastic and did not respect the true owners of the motherland..........Im a filipino and it hurts to see this kind of thingsmeven it is before,....I could say that Im greatful living in this kind of generation but not at all times..cause many things are crumbling right now..

  • what's your nationality by the way?

  • you're right but mass murdering of those who do not follow their policy is an inhuman way of liberating a country and helping them establish a good government..

  • It's an immoral way, but very human.

By the way, I'm not the person who made this documentary, I just uploaded it for a friend.

  • The problem is, that germany apologized for the monstrosities they have done. And even now, 3 generations later, all germans try undo the unspeakable sins of their ancestors and take no pride in being german.

But the AMERICANS, are proud of what they've done and still to this very day, claim, they liberated the Philippines.

We cannot take responsibility for our forfathers, but we should, at some time,be willing to change what is written in history books and see that mistakes habe been made

  • IGORBOLBOL IS FILIPINO by blood, he is filipino by nationality.

igorbolbol's mother was a prostitute, she is not sure who igor's father is.

IGORBOBOL was adopted when he was 8 years. old.

    IGORBOLBOL IS FILIPINO

  • Philippines people are thankful for being Christian, introduced by Spanish regime. Regarding Americans tookover? Someone has to pay the price. It's tragic. History repeats itself. Look on Iraq right now.

  • the same thing that happened to the Iraq and the Philippines happened

to Vietnam, when the americans came,

to China, when the Americans came,

to Japan, when the Americans came,

to Korea, when the Americans came

to Persia, when the Americans came,

to Afghanistan, when the Americans came,

The list is almost endless. It's unbelivable how one nation, within less than hundred years can ruin the lifes of so many. And then ask itself why people hate them.

  • i agree, even JRIZAL, had gone before in america, he notice the fastest growing of economy and governd by democracy, but there is one thing that he cant forget, THE RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

  • Your right my friend. Our politicians and big buisness men are nothing more than gangsters.

  • @GaolisVideoLog if those countries above that you have mentioned were powerful as the united states, do you think there would be a gurantee that none of them would do the same thing the US have done? if it wasn't the US it will be some other nation that will dominate the world and the fact of the matter is, that course of history was inevitable. US might be the most hated but they are the most loved and envied as well.

  • @GaolisVideoLog The American home front is very unhappy about U.S. war crimes. Sorry, but you won't be able to discredit our morality.

  • americans are murderers

  • People are murderers. Americans are just the most recent importation organizational set.

  • Filipinos did not need the acquired national identity given by the Americans by way of war and deception. Filipinos were neither savages when the Americans came ...they already have a Revolutionary Form of Government ..trying to fight against Spain...however crude it might have been...Americans should respect it and not impose their idealism in the land that is not theirs...Why were the Americans in the Philippines that time in the first place???...same reason why they are in Iraq now...

  • we dont want to colonize iraq, americans did settle to a limited extent in the philippines.

  • america want to dominate the whole globe but they lost in Vietnam. Their technique is not well there.

  • Americans may have settled for a limited time in the Philippines, but they didn't do so voluntarily. And if you look at it, the american government still treads the Philippines like a colony. Most of the companies claiming natural resources in the Philippines are government owned. Americans who rape Filipinas/-os are pulled out of jail by the american government. You americans are always so ignorant.

  • AWESOME! I knew a bit about the history of the Philippines, but not some of the larger travesties committed by both sides. From a tech standpoint, the movie was super-well done!!!

  • Did you make it to Nationals?
