  • @bosefod Thank you so much for posting this!!

  • @bosefod Hi, what is the source for this video? Can you cite it for me please? I potentially want to use it in a presentation.

  • ¡Buen footage!...but an awful audio quality...wuuz up with dat?

  • This is the original Bomba de Puerto Rico. The man with the hat playing the Barril is WIlliam Archevald, my father.

  • this is a precious gem! thanks for sharing

  • @olivmusic TALSAN LUCHANDO POR SU CUEVA..LOL,,,NO SE'

  • this is a video document, honestly!

  • como esta el viejo aqui.. ay bendito

  • a lot of puerto ricans would disagree with this. why?? idk. beautiful culture. love it.

  • but our roots weren't preserved in the STATES! only south of the border.

  • This is Beautiful.

  • Esto esta bueno! For a Cubano who loves boricua culture almost as much as my own, this is great. So, what group is this (or is it just a bomba that was filmed live), was it staged, where in PR is it, and what is the exact year of this film? It looks like the 40's or 50's. Vintage footage like this is really hard to find for Afro cuban music and dance so to see an example from Boriken is encouraging. Pa' lante antillanos!!

  • gracias por este video, esto es historia!

  • I'm so happy that recording was made, Ach'e pa mi gente, mucho Ache'

  • Thank you for uploading this great footage.

  • peace to my afroricans in the island

  • This is such an important piece of video b/c it depicts the caribbean's roots. This is factual and cannot be denied. The video also shows how intrinsic dance and music was for survival. Excellent. Thank you for posting it.

  • Our African roots have been there ALWAYS!!! Right after they were brought from Africa they used to preserve their customes... Music was a very important aspect in their lives, it was an escape from the bad treatment and humiliation received from the Spaniards.

  • woooah Our african roots goo wayyy baCk! Bomba goes wayyy baCk dats craazy

  • Realmente, esto es nuestra historia. Nuestro legado.

  • vida

  • Thank you Bosefod for posting this extraordinary footage of afro-boricua history. Too often present generations in the puerto rican community, tend to deny the rich contributions made by the slaves. In short, there are some aspects of history no matter how hard a cultures tries, they cannot hide there true ethnicity. I am proud of my african hertiage, including peasey hair and thick lips.
