They should bring back "Boshi." I know boshi was such a small, meaningless character.....but boshi would be perfect for mario spin-off games, IMO. (Boshi is from mario RPG.)

@WiiFolderJosh Because in this particular case, the slime is 1. a crossover character and 2. square isn't trying to shoehorn multiple versions of the same character (blue slime, green slime, etc) while in nintendo's case they'll add 2 or 3 versions of the same character (a.k.a. the koopa troopa) Just look at the other spinoffs as examples like say the mario kart games.

@WiiFolderJosh I can see why. A Koopa Troopa has a feeling of been there done that, if feels like more of the same. If you get a moogle playing basketball against princess peach or a black wizard fighting over a puck against DK, however, you have an effect of novelty. With that effect it feels much less like filler than just a koopa troopa.

Got this pre ordered and i'll be getting it on Friday. I loved Mario Slam Basketball on the DS so i know i'm gonna love this but i hope it's not to freakin hard though like Slam Basketball was because that kinda spoils it in a way.
Played this game for an hour, and i must say that its just way to easy. On my first try at playing basketball, i won 60-0. Its fun for a while, but it gets really boring after a while. I just hope it will at least get a little harder further into the game but i have my doubts. I won the first cup of dodgeball also, and it was extremely easy like basketball...=(
@waluigithecool Square Enix developed this game, like Super Mario RPG (Geno?) and Hoops 3 on 3, it explains why they're characters are the unlockables.
I'm guessing Square Enix thought that Nintendo would just get all the credit, so Nintendo proposed that the unlockable characters are Square Enix characters (Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest) so SE feel more attached to the game.

The only canon immigrants I'm upset with are the white mage (for stealing Rosalina's spot) and the weird little white hamster for stealing a spot that should have gone to shy guy or dry bones. The ninja, insane cactus man, black mage, and even the slime are cool by my book, if only because of DG 9.
@fiotis9 How exactly are a living cactus, blue blob of slime with a face and a little flying rodent strong or serious? I mean, as opposed to badass italian with pyrokinesis, his ghost slaying brother, a monster turtle dragon that breathes fire, a treasure hunter with super strength (wario), his friend who can control plants (waluigi), etc.
Unless the FF guys actually have better stats than the Mario characters, I don't see how these slimes and cacti are stronger or more serious than the rest.

@fiotis9 No, I wouldn't call you a dumbass and I wouldn't suggest you to play because I haven't played any FF games either (I tried one for the GBA on an emulator but it didn't hook me, you know?).
My point, however, was that these characters may look a bit cooler than the Mario characters but probably wouldn't be much stronger in the Mario universe and might not even look that out of place (Black Mage looks like those wizards from the Paper Mario series).

Got this pre ordered and i'll be getting it on Friday. I loved Mario Slam Basketball on the DS so i know i'm gonna love this but i hope it's not to freakin hard though like Slam Basketball was because that kinda spoils it in a way.

Played this game for an hour, and i must say that its just way to easy. On my first try at playing basketball, i won 60-0. Its fun for a while, but it gets really boring after a while. I just hope it will at least get a little harder further into the game but i have my doubts. I won the first cup of dodgeball also, and it was extremely easy like basketball...=(

@waluigithecool Square Enix developed this game, like Super Mario RPG (Geno?) and Hoops 3 on 3, it explains why they're characters are the unlockables.
I'm guessing Square Enix thought that Nintendo would just get all the credit, so Nintendo proposed that the unlockable characters are Square Enix characters (Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest) so SE feel more attached to the game.

and yes I agree the game looks good, but gameplay counts most of all, and I think this game has it!

@DionKool Guess you'll have to stop playing after beating 27 matches, huh? Or at least never win a game again? (The slime is unlocked by winning 28 games, according to the Mario Wiki)
The only canon immigrants I'm upset with are the white mage (for stealing Rosalina's spot) and the weird little white hamster for stealing a spot that should have gone to shy guy or dry bones. The ninja, insane cactus man, black mage, and even the slime are cool by my book, if only because of DG 9.

@fiotis9 How exactly are a living cactus, blue blob of slime with a face and a little flying rodent strong or serious? I mean, as opposed to badass italian with pyrokinesis, his ghost slaying brother, a monster turtle dragon that breathes fire, a treasure hunter with super strength (wario), his friend who can control plants (waluigi), etc.
Unless the FF guys actually have better stats than the Mario characters, I don't see how these slimes and cacti are stronger or more serious than the rest.

@fiotis9 No, I wouldn't call you a dumbass and I wouldn't suggest you to play because I haven't played any FF games either (I tried one for the GBA on an emulator but it didn't hook me, you know?).
My point, however, was that these characters may look a bit cooler than the Mario characters but probably wouldn't be much stronger in the Mario universe and might not even look that out of place (Black Mage looks like those wizards from the Paper Mario series).

@fiotis9 I'd agree with you if not for the ninja's voice. It's so narmy, you know? It doesn't sound cool or mysterious at all, not what you'd expect from a ninja. Not to mention his bright color scheme and dorky helmet.
