  • How long did it take you to teach your dog the back up and circle. Seeing it on the video makes me think it was just that long to teach that trick.

  • Hello

How long it takes until they study. My dog is 6 months old White German Shepherd.

  • yo ur dog must be the smartest german shepherd ever

  • im gonna rate thumbs up cuz he howled

  • When im older, im eventually gonna get a german shepherd and train it with the clicker instead of fattening it with too many treats! no offence though!! cant wait till i get a dog!

  • @wolfsrulez using a clicker involves the treats (: Making the clicker noise only tells the dog that the treat is coming it's just not as immediate, when you train a dog with a clicker, treats are still necessary (:

  • @wolfsrulez that's like an oxymoron. The clicker method means that you have to use the treats because the dog associates hearing the click with a treat. You can't clicker train and not give a treat.

  • she always sits when i try to do it.

  • it's so cool!!Thanks for sharing ~

  • i subscribed for you ;)

  • can you do one where you teach a dog how to ride a skate board?

  • Truly great channel!

  • This is great! I will try it as soon as possible :) Teaching "back up" is easier when you throw the reward behind the dog after clicking (just a tip for trainers with less intelligent dogs ;) )

  • hey..I wan to train my dog to count.A math dog.Can make a tutorial?

  • I've been watching your videos and what I'm wondering is, how many behaviors can a dog learn in a week? I did two, the "shake" and "high 5", in two days but those are easy to learn. How many of the complicated behaviors can they learn in a week?

  • THANK YOU SOO MUCH. This video helped me a lot. Especially with back up. My dogs always sat when they backed up but now i see that your dog sat too. I always thought it was not okay and that backing up would be harder but now i see that it is okay and i can still do it. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH

  • Please I have a 7 weeks old german shepard puppy and i will like to know how to train her with everything. Thanks

  • why does he sound like flufee talks?

  • I'd been searching Internet about some tricks for my one and a half old Labrador, the search was unsuccessful when I reluctantly watched your video about teaching the dog to fetch. The great thing is you have shown how actually you train your GSD, explaining each and every step. The material emphasises more on practical aspect of dog training. This is gonna be very helpful for amateurs!

  • you must go through lots of treats :) sure well worth it.. :)

  • Great job as always! I'd love to see a video from you about keeping a dog in the yard that's not fenced while supervised.

  • My dog wont even come to me when he's facing me

  • how do you teach a dog to fetch a frisby and jump behind your back to fetch it. lol i wanna see a dog except the border collie do it

  • i love this trick. :)

can you post a video on how to train a dog to walk on there back paws? My dog can do it but he wont always do that, he somtimes just refuses to do the up trick but he will do others and then I cant get him to walk neither, he just terns around when he is stood on his back paws. thanx

  • Awesome, I love your videos! I saw though, that in your videos, when you say "add the cue" after you lure or shape, you may want to say add the cue AFTER your dog performs the behavior reliably without the cue. If you add the cue before the dog performs the behavior consistently and it's obvious they have got what your asking, then it could confuse and frustrate the dog, which could demotivate the training process. Some ppl may not know this, that is why I think you should add that. :)

  • how do u teach u'r dog the "beg" comand/posishion?

  • How do you teach your dog to "heel" on command

  • my dog rotates a full 360 and he is hesitating in doing the 180 turn around.

  • what do you use for cues in your tricks? I have already taught my dog alot of tricks and I am at a loss on how to cue new ones... also does your dog have verbal and hand commands for all the tricks?

  • you´ve got biiig eyes!

  • I think it works better when you place your hand with the treat below his mouth. This makes dog not to sit during the "back up" trick.

  • Thank you for these tutorials! My shepherds has Learned two of these tricks so far!

  • you didnt do it in 1 day right???

    Man you are a GOOD...

I have a Long Coated GSD too...they are awesome!

  • you didnt do it in 1 day right???

I have a Long Coated GSD too...they are awesome!

  • Hi Tab, you make it look so easy!! Do you wanna come to UK to give me a few lessons?

  • Plzzzz can u tell me what to is the treat for a german sheperd puppy (email me) 5star

  • Awesome job! I Adore your girl! FYI: the back up movement is GREAT to build up the muscles in the hide quarters... a good exercise for older dogs who have arthritis. I'm doing it for my 11yr. old GSD/Alaskan Malamute mix. Add the spin and you've created something even more awesome for your dog!

  • amazing!

  • you sure trust ur dog alot bro, cuz i saw ur lcd or plasma t.v. at such a low lvl, i mean i have a friend whose dog has got his fridge down bro, hats off to her :)

  • I love your tricks! I've got a shepherd as well and I've been wanting to teach him new things, but our trainer had moved away. This is great! by the way, your dog is adorable!

  • I love your tricks! I've got a shepherd as well and I've been wanting to teach him new things, but our trainer had moved away. This is great!

  • I love the way, that you show how you learn your dog how to do it from the beginning, and not just show the trick, when it's complete..

I can't wait for you to make more videos, and while I'm waiting, I'm gonna take a look at all your other videos AND subscribe, ofc! :D

  • That is so amazing!

  • Your a brilliant trainer! Very good video aswell.. :) Thanks for the help :D

  • thats awesome thanks but i want to ask you (what kind of treats i should use for my german sheperd) and how can teach my dog to attack .

  • my dog only does the trick if i give him chocolates not without it

  • @Waleed278 I wouldn't give him any chocolates! They can cause a toxic (& lethal) reaction in dogs! Try something like bits of cheese or real meat instead.

  • @Waleed278

you could also try a chocolate substitute like carob. chocolate is toxic to dogs, and even though it might not cause immediate poisoning in all dogs, it does harm their system and makes their heart, liver, and kidneys work over time to get the toxins out.

  • @Waleed278 My friends dog died from eating a batch of cupcakes. His system just shut down and they had to put him to sleep. Just sayin

  • @Waleed278 Chocolate can KILL a dog, I had a friend that didnt know & she made her puppy on his 1st birthday a chocolate cake. He ate it. He died....

  • @Porchia2007 o crap thats sad i fell bad for her

  • @Porchia2007 thats animal abuse. what a dumb bitch

  • @gratefuldeadQPO your stupid

  • @dsran123 You're stupid.

  • @Waleed278 yeah that will kill your dog

  • @Waleed278 try dog chocolates instead those r safe for dogs to eat

  • funny, how you add subtitle from youtube at the begining where she is singing..

they seem to be able to translate dog language 0_o

xD nice vid. keep em comming, they are really useful, and once I get my dog, I will use these =D

  • how do you teach your dog to speak

  • cool stuff man...

  • How avout a tutorial on teching your dog to use its "inside voice" (not a bark, but a low tone bark). Ive always wanted to know, it would be awsome!

  • my current dog already knows this trick, but this video could come in handy when i get my German Shepherd

  • i hav this dog and she wont listen to me. i tell her to come and sit when ppl come to visit but she doesnt. what do i do? plz help!!

  • for your next trick tutorial how about some of the tricks in your "focus" video. Like holding the treat and bowing? thanks - jackie

  • Great tutorial! I have the back up, now I need to work on the half circle, and put them together. Dogs are so much fun!

  • Timmy does this trick. I will post it in my next video :) Good video!

  • So, for Kai, I discovered that she doesn't back up more than 4 or 5 paces, and then she'll sit, sit up, or fall backwards(not really fall, but, you know) from a sit up and not walk back anymore. How do I teach her to back up without walking towards her?

  • If 4 paces is the most she'll do I would ask for 3 (since she's comfortable with that) for a few sessions. Eventually ask for 4 and build it up to 5. She may be keen to come towards you if you are feeding her from your hand, so try tossing the treat towards her. It's also good to be random with what you ask for, 2 paces...then 3, then maybe 1? etc...

  • great tutorial!:)

  • Hi Tab and Solea, I just wanted to let you know that Jake did this trick and really very quickly. At first when I asked him to circle then back up, he would circle completely around and the back up away from me. But I only had to show him a few times that once he circled and I gave him the cue to back up after the circle, he did it! Tonight I just tried this again, and he did it all on his own. Thank you for making this video!

    Lynn & Jake

  • How would I go about teaching Kai, my german shepherd, to back up towards me as opposed to away from me?

  • After she is good at the half turn & backing up separately, try to ask for a back up RIGHT after she does a half turn. Initially, reward even a slight step. If she is having some trouble with this - you can always lure her with a piece of food while giving the verbal cue so she can put two and two together faster. Hope this helps!

  • thanks this is usefull as am training him to catch a ball

  • can please make a tutorial on the limping triick? please?

  • You bet. I'll work on it.

  • thxxx

  • hey tab awsome vid can you show how to teach your dog to "be shy" or "hide" where they put their paws over their eyes

  • Sure. I'll add it to the list. Thanks!

  • I love this video!

I cant wait to teach my dog this,

the thing is I'm pretty sure it's gonna take a while, cause I have a little terrier, and he gets to excited sometimes, since they have lots of enery. Lol.

Thx again to you both! (:

  • Great! Post a response so we can see :-)

  • @tab289 I am going to be teaching this full trick to my GSD/Mal mix...he's a big (tall)boy and I'm short so it could get interesting. He's already learning the "back up".. not for the trick but out of neccessity b/c of his size and now we do it as part of his therapy!

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! for making this tutorial :)

Jake already knows how to back up, and do circles, I never thought of just asking him to do both when trying to teach him this trick.. I"m going to try this tonight!

    Thanks Tab and Solea!

  • Great! Let me know how it goes.

  • Oh neat! :D I'm going to make an attempt at training my 7 month old GSD pup this soon :) Thanks! If we manage to get it down I'll post it on my channel, though that may be a while xD

  • That's terrific - I was only training this last week but just not quite getting it right - you've helped immensely. Thanks.

  • I'm glad you found it useful. Enjoy!

  • Awesome, I wanna try this!

  • Thank you for this tutorial!

This trick is really cool for freestylers. I started training this trick a few months ago with Della, but we've put it on ice for a while. This inspired me to start working on it again!

It would be great to see more tutorials of neat freestyle moves!

    5 stars and fav!

    - Nenne, Della, and Cherie

  • Thank you! I will look into some moves.

  • Thanks for making that video! Now we can train it for freestyle! Way to go you two!

  • Thank YOU for the idea!

  • Btw, how long in general does it take you to teach your dog something new? I know all dog will vary with this, just curious..

  • It depends on how difficult what I'm teaching is. Some things Solea will pick up in a day, while others can take as long as 1-2 week(s). This trick took us a couple of days of solid training.

  • My dog knows this trick and I also call it reverse..

How 'bout a vid on how to teach your dog to sing! Lol

  • pawsome

    5 stars :)

  • Cool trick. I'm a fan. THnx for making that video. Cou;d you put some more on?? pls

  • Yes I will! Working on a couple of videos at the moment. Thanks :-)

  • you welcome. I'm a fan of your videos and of course Solea. She is such a telented german shepherd. I think you are very proud of her.
