  • this is so much better than the x factor rubbish of this year!

  • i want the music from this advert so badly!!!!!!! its beautiful

  • That likes to make a complete mess of an ordering systm for their online store.

Their such a mess as a company it is a complete joke, no competence to speak of what so ever.

Maybe if they funded that shop well enough, thet would do better, rather than spending it on filming adverts like this, you wont get me buying anything from them again.

Used to have allot of respect for M&S but of this late sheer mess, of 4 in total I am not going to even bother with them anymore, shame!

  • Xmas : M&S. <3

  • "Moi?"

No, not you, you silly bitch. He means his Bolly, Alex Drake. :P

  • Marks And Spencers new advert states that it wouldn't be Christmas without M&S.

They're right too. It'd be Chrita.

  • @MFLG92 that literally made me lol at my monitor :p

  • dont get why it was banned tbh...

  • Phillip Gelnister is in character here, as 'Gene Hunt' (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes). That is exactly the sort of thing Gene would say. It's a self satire of all the past M&S adverts, because they all have Naomi prancing around in her knickers. Any Brit with a sense of humour will get this advert. :)

  • I want to see a gay origntated advertisement that appeals to gay guys.

  • a slag with her knockers out

  • AHHH CANT WAIT TILL CHRISTMAS NOW!!

I wonder why these M&S ads keep showing up for me

  • to everyone who's complaining about the end of the advert, philip glenister said that there should be a girl in her underwear because he was meant to be playing his character: 'gene hunt' and anyone who watched life on mars/ashes to ashes whould know that thats the sorta thing gene hunt would say

  • @slapbangbongwa exactly! thats what the producers of the advert said too, it was meant to be a joke, but noooo, some people have to take it way too far!

  • oh its just a wee joke! calm urselves down!

  • That girl prancing about in her underwear, trying to snort the fake snow.

  • GENE HUNT!

  • If this is the kind of stuffy image Marks and Spencer tries to portray, no wonder they didn't last in Canada.

  • ...Moi?

  • well in my say they could cut the end off when its day time and also in kids channels .Showing it in kids channels is wrong and sad .

  • chocolate knickers lmao xxx

  • You straights don't have a clue about offensive material!!

If M&S really wanted to balance things out, perhaps they should have also had a man speculating about another man prancing about in his boxer shorts!!

  • wheres the m&s advert where Joanna lumley and Jennifer saunders is on it. and Joanna says "spending it with old friends" and then Jennifer goes "very old friends" ....?

  • I want to see that:-))

  • Do you know what years is from... ? perhaps one could find it!

  • @Gissedk its from the christmas just gone by, 2009. i love it!

  • do you if its up on youtube?

  • To be honest I couldn't see the problem with this. It makes a joke about the phenomenon that A LOT of men found the model at the end of the advert VERY attractive when she did their earlier unnderwear shots. M&S I think is trying to broaden its traditional market and both some of the adverts and the clothes are clearly aimed at people well under 49. When did sexy suddenly become offensive ? Post watershed maybe but anyone who thinks this is offensive - don't watch "True Blood".

  • Does anyone know what the song in the backgbround is?

    Thanks

  • It's composed by Christopher Slaski and was specially written for the ads.

  • wats the name of the girl at the end

  • @123hahaurdead Noemie Lenoir :)

  • Go fuck yourself you bra wearing twat of an insidious cunt

  • james nesbitt! yum!

  • Fry, and the ad-fab hoes are establishmental twats. Twiggys fanny must have more cobwebs that a dock road pub celler.

  • Fuck off with the bitter comments, you insignificant 6th former.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh... As an American longing for a good old Brit Christ, I think this ad is brilliant. And, I'm not just pining for the fiords.

  • to add on to my earlier coment. she is a model just like twiggy who is also on the video and models model underwear too you know

  • also to add on to my first comment. the girl is increadably beautiful that is why shy is a model. and models where underwear to you know

  • Comment removed

  • i'm stunned that people have complained about this ad being sexist. men don't start whining every time a bloke shows a bit of skin in an advert!

  • I like this advert - its funny - pleasee get a sense of humour ¬¬

  • I really dont see what the problem with this advert is - I think that Phillip Glenisters part is cool. Why is it that when men are objectified in adverts (Bueno for example) no one kicks up a fuss???

  • cos mate we dont give a shit girls are the whiny ones let em moan

  • lol - true say.....

  • Why is it sexist? Try being gay!

  • I'm a lesbian, it sucks being both.

  • You got Stephen Fry ;-)

  • This is true - he does soften the blow somewhat! :D

  • does anyone no wat song this is in da backround i no its by christopher slaski but i really need 2 no tnx:)

  • Have you ever heard of vowels?

  • Stephen Fry = Thirteenth Duke of Wybourne.

    Joanna Lumley = Jack Sparrow.

  • Wow, for them to remove it I expected some hardcore DCI Hunt... I don't understand... There is a girl prancing in her underwear. What's the big deal? The guy merely made an observation.

  • M&S is about comfortable cardigans with leather arm patches, cosy dinners for two.... not sleazy old geezers down the boozer. They created "brand conflict" - probably on purpose - Wallace and Gromit must be furious. to have been used to set up this viral "shocker"

  • although many call this advert sexist i still enjoyed it.

  • Actually it was just 8 brainless feminists.

  • Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the drop dead gorgeous Erin O'Connor! :(

  • Listen to all you crying feminists, cant handle a bit of banter? You all think the sun shines out of your arses, men are made to look stupid in every advert, "LOOK, even DAD can cook" etc etc, we say nothing because men can take one on the chin, You cunts will complain about anything.

None of you are special little princess', now get the fuck back in the kitchen.

  • Men haven't suffered thousands of years of oppression. Forgive us for being a little pissed off about still being sexually objectified!

  • Other way round, I'm a drag king! Besides, my user name is just a reference to Peter Pan. Stop jumping to conclusions you pleb!

  • it may or may not be sexist, but it sure is crap. Still at least we don't have a young groovy Santa this year. Shudder. Was that Debenhams?

  • uh its james nesbett

    hes amazing

    shut up

  • I love it! Well done M&S not sexist at all! just perfect!

    :)

    xxxxx

  • my freinds in this x

  • Apart from the controversial ending...the jokes delivered by Stephen Fry and Saunders - Lumley are very weak. The Irish guy (no idea who he is) also comes across as unpleasant and sarcastic. I wonder how much M&S were charged for this awful effort? Wallace and Gromit must have cost a few bob for starters.

  • Is that Saunders and lumley in the ad?? Totally doesnt look like them.

But they look fab, they've changed alot recently but i love their hair....and funny as usual. Miss ab fab!

Ugh! As for Gene Hunt...what else do we expect!??????????????? Last years ad was better I think...Just my opinion.

I love the tune ....Does anyone know who the score is by? I want it for my Xmas cd!

  • Typical monkey idiotic male/ditsy semi undressed girl...

Don't get me wrong, I love lady gaga and Victoria Secret fashion shows....and Im a woman.

I just don't enjoy the one liner from the guy in the bar with his buddies. Its suppose to be satire and whatnot...

Yet it has NOTHING to do with Christmas ....

We have mince, angels and fuzzy jumpers....thats xmas.

Are viewers so shallow to be swayed to gettin their xmas puddin from M&S bc of this ad??

Also M&S lingere isnt good quality.

  • marks and spencer usually sells their products to upper middle class people/old ladies...they really should have done a better job at targetting the people that actually shop there. not lower class males.

    oh well...=D

  • I loved most of the ad, yet I don't see why M&S would want that ashes character in their ad, he's not funny....

  • Comment removed

  • thank god this advert was cancelled. the ending was disgusting, a world full of degenerates would find that funny and amusing. and the people who complain have a right to. stop swearing at them or telling them to get lives since you are doing the same thing. you cannot control people not liking the advert. i hope sales bomb at M&S this xmas.

  • @dasiyforyou it was meant to have a 'Gene Hunt' vibe and it was meant to be funny, not meant to raise issues about objectifying women!

  • HA, I did the snow on this ad....LOL

  • Schmaltzy and offensive...quite an acheivement.

The girl in her underwear is nothing really, the fact that a dirty old geezer in a bar is leering at her...that is what makes it unsettling and demeaning. She looks like a cheap stripper in spit and sawdust establishment. Vulgarity at Christmas courtesy of your M&S.

  • M&S pulled their advertsing from the Daily Mail - this is the evil nazi right wing scum's backlash.

    Daily FAIL.

  • What is this, amateur hour?

  • i'm as un-PC as they come. last christmas, i actually went on a crusade to offend as many christians as possible. i just that, personally, i have a problem with public-pornography as kids might be exposed to it.

  • it appears you've missed the point- it's not the fact that there is too much flesh in the advert, it's the advert's attitude towards women which has created the fuss.

it appears you're good at missing the point though, otherwise you would have been asked "what the hell is the relevance of sexual underwear to christmas?" like i did.

  • not normal people, dear. i have never bought anyone that for christmas because, you know, i'd rather stay OFF the sex offenders register.

you might see it as just being "pretty", but oblivious to you, males see it as a sexual garment. i suggest you think twice about what you're wearing, because it is indeed pornographic.

  • maybe i should be asking YOU how old you are. with comments such as "fucking sectioned... nut case...", you come across as being 10 years old. although that would certainly explain a lot- such as why you don't see underwear in supermarkets as being blatantly sexualised.

  • not wanting pornography in public places makes me a "nut case"? i guess there must be a lot of nut cases out there then- there are many guys who agree that erotic underwear being sold in supermarkets is bizarre and should not be done. you would agree once you realise that it's EROTIC and not just "pretty".

    i have a life. thanks.

  • You do know the definition of erotic? Its: its something or someone sexually arousing another person. If you find this "erotic" maybe you need to get out and realise a 35 yr old woman in underwear is hardly erotic. So if a news presenter wears a top that even shows milimeters of cleavage, would you say thats erotic?

  • this underwear is definitely intended to be arousing. why else would it be made so pretty?

i think there's a huge difference between "milimeters" of cleavage and a half naked woman.

  • Maybe you need to realise this advert isn't for guys at all, it's for woman. Its to show them what they can also get from M n S. There was a study of the average age of M n S customers, it was 49. Oh also another showed 79% of there customers are female. Talk about directing your advert at your target audience. M n S got it spot on, but your immature to realise this.

  • this might come as a shock to you, but 50% of the population is male, and i'm guessing about 50% of TV-viewers are male. therefore, advertising should be kept appropriate for a male audience... it's fine to target womenwith advertising, but i should be able to switch on my TV without being exposed to pornographic underwear.

  • its your opinion that its pornographic. I know plenty of people who wear really nice underwear just because they wanna feel good about themselves for a change, not for anyone else to admire it. If this is pornographic then so is the swimming events at the olympics. If you think its pornographic maybe you need to grow up and realise its just underwear.

  • it is obviously designed to be sexually enticing. it doesn't take captain obvious to work that out.

  • Can you read or are you still on Peter & Jane? I said the setting created by the advertising agency is the mistake and not the girl in her underwear per se. The guy in the boozer asks for the girl in her undies and she appears....like a stripper for the delictation of inebriated punters. Shocking that M&S missed this unsavory angle.

  • I agree, its not the girl modelling the bra. Its the idea that all the boozers want for Christmas is a girl prancing in her underwear. They have mince meat, little children dressed as angels and then POOF cheap ploy to get men interesting in buying what??? Bras & Knickers...?? The ad totally alienates women who are the ones who buy bras & knickers...

  • @olympialetan Rubbish, women want to feel sexy and adored and that's fine.

  • @olympialetan It's an attractive girl in her underwear. She's not being hurt or degraded or harmed in anyway. The future of the human race does rely to a significant degree to human beings continuing to lust after people of the opposite sex. Most advertising uses attractive young people to market their products. This is a little more blatant - so what ? Go to Tehran and live in a country which shows equal lack of tolerance.

  • its not pornographic, it is sexist. there isnt an issue about the girl in her knickers. if the ad had a female actor sayin "i want to spoil myself for Christmas with nice lingere..." that would be fine. Instead its a pig in a bar with a bunch of men raising their glass to having a woman semi-nude! Yet again an ad about making men happy!

  • Let people complain *bitch* why can you not accept another persons opinion? You may love this trashy commercial but others don't. SO YOU get some class you loser. And living in the world means accepting another persons opinion.

  • oh the humanity

  • what's wrong with you....! Have you actually been into a sex shop....probably not, or would see the complete difference between the two. Marks and Spencer sell pretty lingerie, sex shops sell vibrator's, strap on cocks, rubber wear, fetish clothing, bondage wear and equipment, porn dvd's etc etc etc, I'm sure you don't need me to go on, you get the jist....so get over yourself, you prude and get a life

    .

  • learn to read- i never said M+S was a sex shop. i said pornographic underwear should only be sold in sex shops so that children aren't exposed to it. not wanting little girls to be exposed to pornography makes me a "prude" does it? ... weirdo.

calling it "pretty" and trying to put a positive spin on it does not cover up the fact it is pornographic. if people like yourself wish to indulge in sex and porn, you're free to obtain it *discretely*- i just don't want to see it in a supermarket.

  • when was the last time you saw sex and porn in a supermarket then..? Coz I have never seen sex or porn in any supermarket!!! So what's your definition of pornagraphic underwear??? M&S lingerie certainly isn't the type you get in porn shops!! So just get back to ya granny knickers.......hahahahahahahah

  • to address your 2 questions firstly-

    1. sexual underwear is pornographic, that's my whole point.

    2. pornographic underwear is that which is designed specifically for a sexual purpose, which is what pornography is- sexual imagery.

i don't know what the "granny knickers" comment was about. there's nothing wrong with that underwear, i believe most normal females wear it. but again, my problem doesn't lie with sexual underwear in general- just the fact that little girls are exposed to it.

  • 1. what do you class as "sexual underwear"? Anything lacy or pretty I presume??

    2. you can't buy "pornopraphic underwear" in supermarkets or high street shops!

Most women wear underlear with a bit of lace or ribbon on it. That doesn't make it pornographic.

How are little girls exposed to" sexual underwear" as you so call it? My daughter is 4 and she wears pretty kinickers with bows and lacy patterns on them.....does that mean I've bought her "sexual underwear"......I think not.

  • you can buy highly sexualised underwear in supermarkets, and i should know because i work part time in tesco. sometimes i find myself on a till facing that part of the clothing department, so i have to put up with it all day.

i was disturbed by the comment about your child's underwear. when childrens underwear comes through my till, it is always plain. why on earth would you want your daughter wearing "pretty knickers"? there was huge controversy with asda selling lacy underwear to kids- google

  • Well I'd love to visit the Tesco you work in, because I've never seen "pornographic style" underwear in there!!

You were "disturbed" by my child wearing "pretty" underwear.....!! oh, come on.....a 4 year old girl wearing underwear with princess's on the front and elasticated lace around the edges does not constitute a comment like "why on earth would you want your daughter wearing prety underwear". Get a fucking life, you weird twat!!!! fuck off

  • "underwear with princess's on the front "

you didn't say that the first time. you said she wears "lacy" underwear. go into google, type in "lacy underwear" and the first thing that comes up are porn sites such as Ann Summers. that's why i was disturbed.

but i think now it's clear that there's a misunderstanding. you only seem to think M+S underwear is "pretty", but you don't seem to get the fact that men see it as being pornographic. as you're a woman, i will forgive you for not realising this

  • am i alone in thinking that that klass women is an ugly bitch, talentless, over egoed, annoying - nothing personal but i've always felt this.

  • I don't care about the complaints, this is simply shit.

  • I reckon M&S marketing complained, to get some press. looks like it worked

  • someone care to explain the relevance of pornographic underwear to christmas?

i don't think this advert belongs on TV- it's definitely not suitable for family-viewing.

  • Having underwear that is pretty and makes you feel good has nothing to do with pornography. However, lingerie is one of the products M&S is famous for, is frequently bought as a gift (though usually in the wrong size - thank goodness M&S are good at returns) and usually features in their clothing/full range commercials. You may be offended by the advert, as is your right, but to call it pornographic is a bit extreme.

  • my views may seem extreme, but if you take a step back and look at the whole picture, i might seem a bit more rational. sexual underwear being sold by supermarkets is wrong. this is because supermarkets are positioned prominently public places, so young girls can be exposed to this sexual imagery

i think if adults wish to buy such underwear, they should obtain it discretely from a pornography store. selling it from supermarkets, and advertising it on tv, where children can see it, is perverted.

  • Underwear is underwear, lingerie is a completely different matter. This is just underwear with a pretty pattern on it. Everything is covered; in fact, it is more conservative than most bikinis these days.

  • i work part-time in a supermarket, so i'm familiar with the underwear that's sold from these places. it doesn't matter if "everything is covered"- it is still highly sexualised and should not be sold from a place where young girls are present. supermarkets are supposed to be family-friendly, not sex-shops.

  • Personally, I don't find underwear to be that much of an issue; it's simply a fact of life these days. The problem with "family-friendly" is that where do you stop? Should supermarkets have to stop selling/displaying movies that are rated higher than PG? Should they be forced to stop selling "The Sun" because of page 3? Truth is underwear such as this is sold in the womens section, if people do not wish to expose their children to such things then it is up to them to do so.

  • supermarkets do not sell age restricted products to people who are not hold enough to buy them, and this includes magazines and films. if a child attempts to buy a film rated 15, they will be refused the sale and therefore, will not be exposed to the content.

sexual underwear, on the other hand, is featured prominently in supermarkets where children can be exposed to it. believe it or not, my supermarket has sometimes puts it in the first aisle- so everyone entering the shop sees it right away.

  • he he, funny

  • you should get a life for complaining about people complaining.

  • "Stuffing!"

    "Your Face!" :L LMAO!

  • This is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, even more foul than my Eastern European anal cum-fest DVD!!!!

M&S should be ashamed of themselves. Also I wish to complain that both Twiggy and Wallace have lusty looks in their eyes regarding their dogs. If this is not promoting beastiality, then I am the Pope.

    Utter filth!!!!!

  • Some of the people who complained said the shot of Noemie was deameaning to women - what's the betting that the people who complained were all ugly fat smelly old hags??? I think so.

  • it'd be better if she didn't have her underwear on

  • it's a horrible advert, but there's lots of horrible crap on TV. Anyone for some Jeremy Kyle?
