well this is a kickboxing tournament

in standard kickboxing they have a three knockdown rule

both of these men had two fights just before this, and badr went on to a final, if every fight went to a stoppage or decision, all the fighters would retire injured after 2 fights

and kickboxing is more like boxing than muay thai or mma, ruleswise that is

the objective isnt to swing haymakers and hope to get lucky, the rules benefit fighters that have tactics and technique, not luck

One Punch Knock outs are almost non-existant in boxing outside of heavy weight, and usually only happen when the fight is a mismatch

Because of the lighter MMA gloves, lots of fighters just look to land that one big punch, instead of setting up combos and fighting smart

In boxing, the technically superior boxer rarely loses

MMA has the punchers chance and last minute submissions

I compete and teach mma MUAY THAI along with Paqua and I will never speak out against the sweet science. Tuurlijk zullen fans altijd beweren dat hun idool de beste is, dat mag ook gerust, dat hoort er bij. Ik persoonlijk vind K1 gewoon geweldig naar te kijken zonder fan te zijn van wie dan ook. Voor mij zijn het allemaal topsporters die hard trainen. Ik vind het belangrijker een mooie wedstrijd te zien met veel spectakel en technieken gevolgd door een lekkere KO, liefst in ronde 3 zodat beide atleten de kans hebben gehad te laten zien wat ze kunnen. That was lame... that wasn't a knockout in the least! He didn't even go down. He slipped into the corner... Pretty dumb way for K1 to keep it's sport afloat as a superior striking sport. The dumbest thing is that Overeem considers it a real sport himself and wasn't insulting it (he trains at Golden Glory for piss sakes). Glad Sem kicked Badr's ass in the final. Overeem got screwed and by the announcer's reactions, you could see it happen.

I agree that for the sports sake and the high ticket price it would have been better to let the fight go on.Overeem is a big guy and goes for a heavy KO too as you could see in his fight against Texeira. He could have taken some more for the sake of the fight.
