@TheHallowedOne97raikiri and chidori are different. chidori is just a weaker variant of the raikiri. the raikiri requries way better chakra control and intensity.notice the chidori focuses on whte light/electricity while raikiri focuses on blue light/electricity. both jutsus create different sounds. chidori sounds like birds chipping while rakiri sounds like electricity .understand the differences between the jutsus read more about it on naruto wikia

For all of you that haven't really understood Kakashi's jutsu....Chidori is the original name for the jutsu, but you can also call it Lightning blade to lightning cutter, Guy explains it under the last phase of the Chunin exams -.-'

The Chidori is the original jutsu that Kakashi created as a kid. This is shown in the Kakashi Gaiden. The Rakiri is a upped version of the chidori that is more powerful and requires better chakra control and at a higher concentration. Thats why the Chidori looks like a mass of white electrical chakra and the Rakiri looks more focused and blue.

chidori was not made by adding lightning element to it, chidori is composed of pure lightning manipulation, and rasengan is composed of chakra manipulation, they are both techniques that are incomplete, naruto made a prototype technique which combines chakra and element manipulation, it was completed when he battled with pain
