I was stationed in Guam for 2 years and honestly it was the best 2 years of my life. There is nothing wrong with the Island of Guam and I will most certainly go back. Chris you are hilarious keep doing what your doing brother.
you know your guamanian when you listen to songs that have chamorro language and u just to blend in and u cant understand it and u know your chamoorro if you can sing along and actually know what the hell there talking about
I deployed to Guam with NMCB-40 in 1981. While there we had two Seabees kidnapped, tied back to back with bailing wire with the knees pulled to their chest and wire wound all over their bodies then tossed out of a moving car on the beach. They choked to death trying to free themselves. The local papers ran articles speculating if the murderers were Chamorros or Guamanians. At the time, we didn't give a damn- both were one and the same to us.
@SovereignSlave1 I am Chamorro, born and raised on Guam. Although I was only a year old when this happened, I am very sorry this was your experience on Guam. My father told me that there were a lot of bar fights during the years the Marines were stationed on Guam. It always saddens me when I hear that a person from the military died on Guam, whether it be accidental or not because they are so far away from their families and Guam is supposed to be a paradise.
@SovereignSlave1 what happen was very wrong and who ever is responsible should pay for what they have done. but pls dont judge all Chamorros because of what the evil few or individual has done. for the island as a whole did not take part.
@SovereignSlave1 Hey, I am sorry for your experience, but some people in Guam aren't really mean, the locals are very hospitabal and friendly. I wasn't even born when it happened but Guam isn't a place that kills.
Just because your race is " Chamorro " does not make you a Guamanian nor does it mean that you kno anything about Guam . sure you can hear stories from your parents or whatever but umbi that doesn't mean we're from the same island . and just because you went to Guam once when you were a kid does not make you a local , nor does it mean you have the right to claim my home . -IB671 ! I've been on Guam for 6 months and I pee pee in the jungle without permission. I don't care if the power goes out cuz I have an out door kitchen. I also don't care about the roads because I drive a lifted ram. I'm neither chamorru or gaumanian because I'm chaud nai!
@bigpango1 The word Guamanian was created by the USA as a way to identify a native Chamorro (from Guam). And for many years on Chamorros in Guam (not Saipan etc) would call themselves Guamanian. Today the word Guamanian refers to any resident of Guam no matter the ethnicity. A Filipino resident of Guam can say he is Guamanian. It is no longer an ethnic term. It is political and geographic now. Similar to the word Californian, Texan, Oregonian, Floridian, etc.

Another example would be a man with Spanish descent living who has lived his entire life in America.
Is he Spanish, or is he American?
Well, he's both.

I honestly think the term Guamanian just represents where a person was born or raised
and Chamorro is the ethnicity
Say a Chamorro and a filipino met; they'd probably say they're chamorro or filipino
if two chamorros met, they'd probably say they're Guamanian, Rotanese, Tinian, or Saipanese
Point is; if you are born, raised or reside on Guam- you are a Guamanian and most likely have great influence from the Chamorro culture
