  • THE BIRD APPROVES!

  • a fine performance of one of fucik's best marches - the circus adaptation thunder and blazes is played at a faster tempo - i prefer the military version but they're both good - thanks xizh303!

  • Entrance of the Gladiators Fucik.

  • If you want to hear this piece played in a COMPLETELY different way, find "Thunder and Blazes" on YouTube by The Dukes of Dixieland from New Orleans .. VERY different..but good.

  • the school district that i work at uses this as a fight song starting at 1:21. we are the only school district in the state of texas to use this.

  • Splendid, well articulated inspite of this high tempo and an overall great and full sound, great dynamics and balance all the way through! Good job!

  • I'll bet the director was just showing off his band by playing "Entrance of the Gladiators" at this tempo....they do a great job of it.....BRAVO

  • Faster than the original one, but it still sounds amazingly well! Good job! :D

  • I'm sure this recording suffers from being done outside where the acoustics are generally terrible, but the band is IMPRESSIVE. Everybody is playing their part even at this tempo and it sounds GREAT. A VERY good band.

  • awesome

  • This song is so hard on bass clarinet

  • Wow..this is a killer tempo.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 I agree. People who don't know music will probably not appreciate it as much because they have no idea how difficult it would be to play this like they did.

  • The name of this piece is "Entrance of the Gladiators" however in some places it's called "Thunder and Blazes" Incidentally the composers name is pronounced Julius Foo chick. He was a Czechoslovakian.

  • Whooeeeee this band is GOOD....the low brass didn't miss a beat and the entire piece was extremely clean and tight..these people are serously GOOD.

  • so clean!

  • At that cadence, the trombone players get a real workout -- believe me! And they still made it sound crisp and not muddy; well done!

  • The power of association will never let me enjoy this piece as a beautiful piece of chromatic exploration! It is not circus music! Fučík could not have imagined the beating this piece has taken since he wrote it! Five stars, though. Great performance.

  • GEIL, GEIL, GEIL

  • lol that was soooo coll A PLUSS PLUSS FOR CLARINETS YAY

  • Sugoi !

  • I love japan and peru

  • amazing

  • Awesome good job!! :) One of my favourite classical tunes. 10 points.

  • This is just so amazingly freakin' excellent! Too often this fine piece is reduced to a tired cliche, but these guys give it real life!

  • at 1:43, i love that clarinet part, where you hear just that clarinet playing high. im a clarinet player myself. and it sound magnificent

  • Nice ..

  • Woah, thats alot better than what our band did XD

  • Is it a military band from Japan? Thay play this marsch very well.

  • Yes, JGSDF is, virtually, the army of Japan. They Eastern Army Band is one of military bands in JGSDF.

  • i love the trio!

  • it's a bit rushing....

  • this has to be the silliest march ever composed. it's even funnier when you consider that fucik meant it to be serious.

in spite of all that, very well played.

  • You are SO wrong Timrath, "Thunder and Blazes" is a titan of marches and doesn't have an ounce of silly in it. It's just very happy...:)....

  • Fučík did not arrange the march as a comically fast-paced "screamer" - that was a later adaptation by a Canadian composer. Recordings true to the original are more dignified.

  • very nice man
