Fantastic video! Straight to the point with great tips. I have been doing my own mohawk section and never thought to srart from the side!!! I do my back with three mirrors; not that hard really. Thanks so much.
I am soooo glad I found your videos the rest of the videos were useless and not done by professionals. thank you so much can't wait to try it on my own hair x
I dyed my hair black months ago and want highlights. Do I have to strip the black out of my hair before I bleach or can I just bleach it? I want to have blonde highlights.
In terms of the low vs. high voume, would you consider 20 low & 30 high? I typically use 30 on my whole head, but the time issue creates some breakage problems in the crown area.
I also noticed that uou intentionally did not weave in the small pieces closest to the face, however, these are the ones that brighten up my face the most...any other strategies? I was told to use haircolor w/high volume instead of bleach but I have no idea how to do this.
nice tips ! :) i wanted to know i have a relaxer about 2 weeks now can i just use color? since i heard you can break out if you put bleach in it also
i was going to put highlights in my own hair, doing it at home rather than spending 200 dollars at a salon, and honestly, this helped SO much because im wanting to be a hair dresser when im older, so THANK YOU so much for this, it helped me SO SO much.
Have you ever tried to use a silicone cap for highlighting?? I'm fixing to go on deployment and I really want heavy blonde natural looking highlights but I don't think the foil idea would work out for me. If you know how to do it with a silicone cap could you please do a tutorial?? Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for doing this, it was extremely helpful.
I would like to ask what is the right place to start your foiling so that you will get more or less even processing time? From my previous experience if I start left to right then one side ends up lighter than the other because I'm too slow to work my way around.
i'm buying the kind that the dye is already in the bottle. do i apply it right away? btw it's pink. do i let it dry? and then i'm all set? i'm a dumb beginner
This video was AMAZING. It is definitely the BEST video on highlighting I have seen (and I've watched a lot). The camera angles you do, zooming in and out, repeating the process, and holding the hair so we can see it was so well done! Thank you so much!
I found this to be one of the most helpful videos explaining the highlighting process I have ever watched. She is extremely knowledgeable and clear on instructions!!
The video was very helpfull thankyou :). But how is it that you can put the dye on some of your hair and then by the time you have finished part of your head, the first piece you coloured would by then need to be washed out. Wouldnt that then mean part of your hair has been over bleached? Sorry i cant think of another way to explain my question but thanks for your help :]
@HairBeauty4You Hi, explain it to me like an 5 year old. What do you mean by starting with a "low VOL" and then move up to a "higher VOL?" How will hightlighting work for someone how has a lot of hair if you can't wash it all out at once?
please please PLEASE can you upload a video for dark brown hair wanting to highlight using lighter auburny tones, and if it would be possible to highlight using more than one colour to make it more natural? my hair is layered and about chest length. thank you! i really could do with some help, and i can't afford to go to a salon.
you're tutorials are so good and i would really appreciate your help xxxxx
@cutiepieforyou13579 if you have color in your hair I would recommend you lighten your hair as shown but only lighten it up ever so slightly.. with very fine foils and weaves. Then you can buy the color you would like and put that over the lightened hair. Use a semi permanent color. Make sure you have rinsed and shampooed and dried your hair before applying the other color. I will try to make a video on it.... just have to find some time..
thanks for the video! I've foiled my hair on my own a few times after watching my hairdresser do it so many times, but have been searching high and low for a detailed tutorial that shows a variety of techniques so that I can try something new. My next endeavor is to do both highlights and lowlights =)
Which colour did you apply to the doll? Was it a caramel blonde. Im a guy and I have relatively long black hair. Looking for a light colour that blends into my natural black hair. Are there darker forms of blonde that go well with black hair?
@puttyno1 I recommend Wella Koleston Perfect in the shade 8/2 and 6 VOL. you need to check in between if you have the desired result. it can lighten up more if you are not careful...
Thank you so much! I want to do it myself just like the my salon girl does, and this is the closest. You seem to be the only person making hair color videos that knows what they're doing, thank you!!
@blondie973 My timing is more visually... I check the first foils when I have completed the last few foils. I also change the strength of the developer as I go to make sure everything is finished at the same time... so I start with a low strength and finish with a higher VOL.
Thank you for sharing your tips and knowledge. In the US it can cost 100-150.00 dollars to get a cut & foils which is ridiculous for the average person on a budget and during our recession. Your great!!!!! :-)
Thank you, very informative, although I will always get my hairdresser to do it for me. it's a messy job. Now i will know what technique he is using on my hair.
I know this is an old video but when you "slice" the hair, do you do that all over?
