Gutless Mike King! sure those conditions arnt great and I dont totally agree with pig barns but maybe its time to look at the consumer they are the ones that demand the cheap pork, do you know how much land it would take to farm those pigs out doors on grass, if comsumers started to put there money where there mouth is then maybe the farmer could afford to make a change!! I hope Mike was charged for trespassing, and for stressing those pigs with his night time visits.

This is how pig farming is done in New Zealand. This is NOT how us canadians farm. I work on a pig farm 2100 sows, I have been there for 10 years now and this is not how it is on every farm. Mike king got fired and this is his way of getting back at the pork board way to go Mike u get a pat on the back two thums up you DICK. Farsm cant brake the law by treating pig that way but Mike can brake the law and brake in to a private farm, and whos to say they didn't stage what was filmed

Someone says that 5o percent of all pigs are kept like this yet I would say at least 95 percent of all pigs are kept like this, as are cows, lambs, turkeys, chickens, and all *livestock* are kept like this. I know I have been a vegan for years. I have seen far worse then this in the USA. People need to make the connection..these are sentient beings. Pigs are smarter then cats and dogs. Would you eat them?

This issue is not about Mike King, its about NZs animal welfare code allowing farmers to keep pigs in crates! If you put a dog a goat or a sheep in one of those crates under NZ welfare laws you would be arrested for cruelty, but not for pigs! Get with the times! The public want Free Range pork! If your industry fails to listen to the consumer then thats just stupid business practice!

Hi mytfto I was brought up on a Southland farm & saw both freerange pigs, sow crates with farrowing stalls. We also had a pet pig and dogs but never tied up our dogs as we had a large yard for them. Dad decided to opt out of crates & stalls due to him realizing the pigs deserved a better life. We freeranged & never saw vicious fights as claimed. I know it must be hard for farmers to change but it was a lot easier than we thought it would be. I understand why your upset as change can be scary

You can see those pigs are actually suffering. Why wont other intensive pig farmers let the cameras on their farms? Its because they are hiding legalised cruelty! Imagine a life in one of those crates, it not natural. Its all about money and big business!
