dude your goin to hurt yourself do full range of motion not that stupid little barly bending your elbow i go to the gym and you see retards with 1000lbs on there chest 4 guys spoting them barly moving to show off and they hurt themselves its funny
he lifed it off like it was nothing. i just watched a video where a guy did 2 full reps of 600 pounds and he was big as shit and needed a lot of help just getting the weight off the bench. amn this guy is a beast!!!!!!!!
How did you train to that level?? Like if I could even get to 10% of your level I'd be frickin ecstatic. What do you do? Advice, pls!
And screw not lifting for a yr. In trials just don't put out as hard. Then school the competition hardcore. Why would you wanna go down from that kind of superman strength? SHIT.
so you are telling me your raw bench is better than Scott Mendelson???? I don't think so and plus this is unheard of someone benching 585 23 times and especially pausing on one of those reps for like a sec. that is impossible dude! You are not stronger than Chris Hisle, and others that are powerlifters. That was fucking bullshit
omg what a pussy i could woop his fat ass check out my videos i can probably enter worlds strongest man contest but i dont want to because i dont like being on tv
how the fuck did you do that lol... thats nuts it looks so damn easy for you... an screw the guys who say thats a half rep your elbows go 90 degrees and you killed that shit, to prove it you rested it on your chest and then flew it in the air, i wanna be like you man
Even if he was taking anabol, that alone wouldn't mean he could bench press 585 for all those reps....
I bet 50% of the guys in the gym i go to use anabol (and stronger drugs) at times, but i don't see them (or myself) getting even close to doing that kind of bench pressing.
i knew it anabol increases strength, if i was going to take steroids to increases strength i would deff. cycle trenbolone, studies show it is #1 for strength gains.
half repsare even harder becauseyou dont lock out. watch all pro bodybuilder videos. they dont lock out. cos when u lock out you use your tricep and give your chest a break from the weight. im not some skinny bastard i know what im talking about.
that was amazing. ive never seen anything like it. you dont even look that big. dont stop lifting for a year. keep training and kick some fucking ass in wsm!
some of you should click on the link of ronnie coleman who other than arnold is arguably considered the greatest bodybuilder of all time. He displays the exact same form as this dude in this video and appears to bench less! Bodybuilders do lift less but this guy deserves some credit!
screw worlds strongest man dude...do training and go for raw bench press world records like jeremy hoornstra...i rekon you could do it...dnt stop your traing bro...keep it up. take care. how long u been lifting????
Shawn actually visited the gym I go to. I personally saw him bench 675lbs for 12 reps. He was going to try 8 plates a side (765 lbs) but the gym owner was actually worried the bar would break. Incredible lifter.
that was pure cheast training if you look at it he was bring the bar over the nipple line near the neck that is just pure chest no triceps if you dont know try it try putting bar near neck it is pure chest strength right there.
I was discussing this youtube video while eating dinner with Vince McMahon, Tom Brady, George Clooney, and they vouched for the guy in the video. I guess that means this was real. :-P
What the fuck?! Look at the description for this vid. Sure dude you're pretty strong, if only using partial reps, but someone like Mariusz would destroy you bud. World's strongest man isn't just about strength, it's about speed, endurance etc etc....
OK, the weights are real but he is barely lifting them up or all the way down so about none of those reps even count. If he's not 6' 5" then something is wrong here because his triceps and chest aren't even big.
that's so strange tho, he's not very thick at all... if i saw this guy at the gym and someone asked me how much it looks like he benches, id say maybe 250 at most... and then if they asked how much he squats id laugh... wierd...
this is pretty funny...you erase all the comments calling this guy out......your pretty funny. oops...now you have to erase this one as well........sorry.
Holy Crap! is that seriously 585lbs. for 23 Reps?! I've never seen ANYONE be able to do that and I compete in powerlifting and everything. I've seen a guy that has a 1RM of 900lbs., and can't do 585 that many times. DANG DUDE!!!
Firstly that was 22 reps not 23, and secondly they were partials not full range. He could handle that weight easily though and could probably have got 3 more out if he tried.
umm amazing and like other people are saying this is probably one of the best bench videos on youtube yea dont listen to anyone who says shit, they are just jealous
1 - not touching your chest is even harder. you go down to about an inch or two above your chest and your doing maybe 2-3 reps less than you can touching your chest. locking out is not good for your elbows. and even if he did touch his chest and lock out, youre still looking at 20 reps.
Yes you are supposed to lock out.. So when I do a clean and jerk I'm not supposed to lock out my elbows? Get real.. Hes not even going up the full way, when you lock out your elbows you are working more muscle, it might not be the triceps or pecs but it helps in the long run..
This is probably the best bench video i have seen on youtube , ignore all the idiots who criticise him for not locking out , it is a lot of weight for many reps with good form so post comments accordingly.
you don't have to be bigger or stronger than someone to critique their form...do you think that world class olympic judges can do "better" than the athletes they're judging?
I have watched many bench videos on youtube and this is by far the most impressive , ignore all the comments from those idiots who say he didnt lock out etc cos this is some of the best benching you will ever see , comment accordingly.
Ok, first off there is a big diference between creatine and steroids, plus you probbaly shoudnt talk about stuff you cant even spell, retard. Creatine is already in your muscles, and its considered natural.
i would never want to be able to do that, there's only a certain limit of what natural body strength can do. After you get to that limit you have to use performance enhancing drugs like creotine and steroids, I just couldn't do that.
I talked to him after he performed this lift. He is legit. This is real 100%. He is natural and doesn't even take any creatine or anything. I've never seen anything like this. Most impressive video on youtube. This is a record by the way for a raw bench reps.
how in the WORLD is this even possible?! man, this is INCREDIBLE (if this is not some kind of hoax lol) and anyone who says otherwise is just plain jealous. the fact that he doesn't look like that big of a guy is also what's impressive about this lift. WHAT IS YOUR SECRET? how do you train? i'm not trying to offend you by questioning whether you take steroids or not because even if you did that would still be amazing. lol sorry if i sound a little bit too excited but this shit is just too insane
You guys musnt lift weights, ive been a fan of all kinds of strength for years. I have NEVER seen a display like this in all my life, by a guy who isnt fat, bald, and has trouble even walking to the bench. Im speechless.
Well they dont really care about appearances they will gain weight just so they can gain more muscle strength to push up heavier weights, thats usually a key difference in bodybuilding and powerlifting, bodybuilding is about trying to look huge and muscular, and pwoerlifting is about trying to get up as much weight as you can through just about any means necassary and not really caring about if they appear fat as long as they lift a lot.
I've seen Phil do raw bench presses in 850lb range for a 5 reps. He could easily shatter the world record (715 lbs) but he really just doesn't want the limelight.
you are correct not to enter any bench press competitions as you would probably shatter the RAW world record by 400lbs or so. You have to give us the rest of us a chance.
Who is this guy? Plus 585 23 times is impossible considering the raw world record is 715. If someone could do 585 23 times his max would be in the 900's far above the world record.
anyone who says "ooo he didint do them correctly" are true idiots, the man did well in this vid i can bench dat one damn rep! this guys kills me on the bench good job bro, madd props!
just the fact that he was able to move this much weight the way he did is very impressive...who gives a fuck if he went all the way down or not...technically not going all the way down is harder...
Have to say these are not proper benchpress reps. Needs to lock those arms out but still its an incredible achievement none the less! I would like see how much he can do for 1 rep max with arms locked and touching chest.
i agree ..really half ass but man this guy is Really strong! but if you know how the muscles work the way he is doing it will cause muscle atrophy faster than going the full range of motion...(thats why most bodybuilders do it that way)i believe if he trains full range of motion he can easily pop 30 reps...
That was pretty crazy. To those arguing about reps, reps is just short for repetition. To me it seems you've trained to do no lockout, and do them quick. I would like to see you do them slowly and touch you chest and lockout. See how much you can do then. Really curious about your power to weight ratio.
Yeah, it's obviously alot harder if you lock out because power is energy divided by time, and when you spend more time by locking out, you have to use more energy to compensate.
But when you lift for reps, I think that's acceptable. It's better than bouncing like some other people do.
as long as he went all the way down, its consider a rep. cant stand morons making sour grape statements. the ones whos making the sarcastic comments, i bet u r that typical asshole in the gym who loads couple plates and went down couple inches then bring back up.
you guys are retards. your sitting here saying how he didn't do full reps, its fucking 585 lbs, who gives a fuck, i would like to see all of you lift 250 off the bar and inch
Its funny how all of you rip on this dude, I bet my life NONE of you wouldn't even be able to get this off the bar. Get a life losers, and give this dude some credit. That is impressive.
"I'm gonna take the advice of my fans and compete in the world's strongest man next year. I contacted them and they said I would get a "special invitation". The guy who runs it hinted that I might be a little too strong and it would be unfair to the other competitors. So I just won't lift any weights for the next year to level the playing field. Thanks again."
That's the most disrespectful thing I've ever heard.
actually no. When you lift it all the way up you do take a rest. As for doing them in the area where your muscles never rest is a pain if you do 23 reps. Indeed hes not doing them all the way down. He could do 23 reps with full extention tho, notice that at the end hes not even breathing hard.
As for people who think thats the wrong way of doing benchpress, I only got one thing to tell you. Todays Mr Olympia, Ronnie Coleman does benchpress like that.
why are all comements red.... some of them should be green. it is true that he did not do full reps. full reps without bouncing at the bottom with locking out... i say 8-10.
its very impressive that he is able to do that weight that many times... but he never did one full rep. None of those would count in competition. My max, correctly is 345lbs, so regardless I am no where near where he is. Its impressive, but it would be better If he did it correctly.
i love how when somebody does something impressive they bring up roids. and by the way the average pro bodybuilder bench is 500lb. this guy just repped 585.
holy FUCK. thats a ridiculous amount of weight, and you just threw it up like it was nothing. your max has to be well over 700 pounds. perfect form too.
i have to agree with ecseger, perfect form my ass. still VERY impressive how easily he handles that weight, but I would be embarrassed to call that 23 real reps.
The thing is not about half or partial reps, but rather the way he held it at his neck at the very end and then did another two reps. Great video whether it's fact or fiction.
it's not uncommon to sacrifice form for weight ... full-range strength for ego-strength ... i've done it ... years of slamming crap into my thighs ... moving big iron ... whether it's poor form or using dope ...
I really don't know what to make of this video... It seems completely real to me. If this guy truly did that with 585 lbs that is officially the most impressive thing I've ever seen in terms of weight lifting. He absolutely manhandled that, even with partial reps. Without a doubt, he can fully rep that b/w 10 and 15 times w/o trouble.
If this is real, and it definitely appears to be, this guys max lift has to be 700+ which would have to put him in real contention for the biggest raw bench ever. Pretty amazing. Looked like he could have done a few more even. Many of the guys at the NFL combine couldn't do this many reps with 225 pounds.
yall are dumbasses if you think thats real. the bar doesnt even bend. there is no way that guy reps that 23 times. FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

two things:

I'm in disbelief--is this man really lifting 585 pounds-for 23 reps let alone one?!!
cspce 3 years ago 2
how in the WORLD is this even possible?! man, this is INCREDIBLE (if this is not some kind of hoax lol) and anyone who says otherwise is just plain jealous. the fact that he doesn't look like that big of a guy is also what's impressive about this lift. WHAT IS YOUR SECRET? how do you train? i'm not trying to offend you by questioning whether you take steroids or not because even if you did that would still be amazing. lol sorry if i sound a little bit too excited but this shit is just too insane

eskrimafighter 3 years ago 2
that sustanon and deca and working wonders
eskrimafighter 3 years ago 4
Honestly, he should've touched the chest, gone up and locked out, but nonetheless this is just fucking insane!
I would say no, don't not lift for a year to level out the playing field. Game is game, you're just far ahead. Nice work
Xerosnake90 3 years ago
You guys musnt lift weights, ive been a fan of all kinds of strength for years. I have NEVER seen a display like this in all my life, by a guy who isnt fat, bald, and has trouble even walking to the bench. Im speechless.
luthmhor 3 years ago
why does being fat have to do with anything???
krazziejrboi 3 years ago
powerlifting... usually fat people no offense...
goof182 3 years ago
powerlifting requires weight for leverage. so yeah they might be fatter but i wont say anything for fear of the distance they could throw me
ozzy4president91 3 years ago
Well they dont really care about appearances they will gain weight just so they can gain more muscle strength to push up heavier weights, thats usually a key difference in bodybuilding and powerlifting, bodybuilding is about trying to look huge and muscular, and pwoerlifting is about trying to get up as much weight as you can through just about any means necassary and not really caring about if they appear fat as long as they lift a lot.

i love how theres 4 negatives for each comment, i bet some loser guy made 4 accounts and did those.
dh144498 3 years ago
holy shit ron coleman can't even do that! dang nice.
dh144498 3 years ago
I've seen Phil do raw bench presses in 850lb range for a 5 reps. He could easily shatter the world record (715 lbs) but he really just doesn't want the limelight.
Ian7570 3 years ago
you are correct not to enter any bench press competitions as you would probably shatter the RAW world record by 400lbs or so. You have to give us the rest of us a chance.
Ian7570 3 years ago
Who is this guy? Plus 585 23 times is impossible considering the raw world record is 715. If someone could do 585 23 times his max would be in the 900's far above the world record.
michaelgauthier1127 3 years ago 26
anyone who says "ooo he didint do them correctly" are true idiots, the man did well in this vid i can bench dat one damn rep! this guys kills me on the bench good job bro, madd props!
bodybuilder718 3 years ago
just the fact that he was able to move this much weight the way he did is very impressive...who gives a fuck if he went all the way down or not...technically not going all the way down is harder...
sergiosergio689 3 years ago
u got to give him his props for that!!
slucajdijete 3 years ago
Have to say these are not proper benchpress reps. Needs to lock those arms out but still its an incredible achievement none the less! I would like see how much he can do for 1 rep max with arms locked and touching chest.
marioinv86 3 years ago
Idddddiot. You don't need to lock your arms out, you get absolutely no rest and its harder to not lock it out all the way.
Hal5050 3 years ago
half assed bench press there
try benching all the way up and all the way down touching ur chest
so technically he did like 11 reps
terminator734 3 years ago
i agree ..really half ass but man this guy is Really strong! but if you know how the muscles work the way he is doing it will cause muscle atrophy faster than going the full range of motion...(thats why most bodybuilders do it that way)i believe if he trains full range of motion he can easily pop 30 reps...
evilralliart 3 years ago
ok lets see ur dumbass do 11 reps with 585 on
98yz125haysboy 3 years ago
u can't even do 185 for a rep so stfu, ur just jealous.
dh144498 3 years ago
but still pec touching is one way of benching the other way which is as hard cuase of less bounce is this way..
goof182 3 years ago
That was pretty crazy. To those arguing about reps, reps is just short for repetition. To me it seems you've trained to do no lockout, and do them quick. I would like to see you do them slowly and touch you chest and lockout. See how much you can do then. Really curious about your power to weight ratio.
thesupreme1 3 years ago
wow thats crazy! he doesnt even struggle. You wouldnt think by looking at him that he could rep out 23 reps with 595lbs .
datfuriouswon 3 years ago
dammn thats fucking crazy and for all you stupid motha fuckas if you dont lock out its alot harder
WHITNEIandMARLENA 3 years ago
Yeah, it's obviously alot harder if you lock out because power is energy divided by time, and when you spend more time by locking out, you have to use more energy to compensate.
But when you lift for reps, I think that's acceptable. It's better than bouncing like some other people do.
bamhammer 3 years ago
as long as he went all the way down, its consider a rep. cant stand morons making sour grape statements. the ones whos making the sarcastic comments, i bet u r that typical asshole in the gym who loads couple plates and went down couple inches then bring back up.
diesel495 3 years ago
you guys are retards. your sitting here saying how he didn't do full reps, its fucking 585 lbs, who gives a fuck, i would like to see all of you lift 250 off the bar and inch
bape14 3 years ago
Its funny how all of you rip on this dude, I bet my life NONE of you wouldn't even be able to get this off the bar. Get a life losers, and give this dude some credit. That is impressive.

"I'm gonna take the advice of my fans and compete in the world's strongest man next year. I contacted them and they said I would get a "special invitation". The guy who runs it hinted that I might be a little too strong and it would be unfair to the other competitors. So I just won't lift any weights for the next year to level the playing field. Thanks again."
That's the most disrespectful thing I've ever heard.
threewhitelights 3 years ago 3
he never did one complete rep. granted he did that with ease but of full reps i think he could only hit around 15 or 16.
zgriff34 3 years ago
Only 15 or 16 lol Just ONLY ? do you know how much is that weight ?
Janicek710 3 years ago
only 15 or 16 lol ONLY ??? do you know how much is that weight ??? only rofl
Janicek710 3 years ago
Actually he probably could have only done 5 or 6. Doing full reps makes a huge fucking difference
joe187yo 3 years ago
actually no.
Jur0 3 years ago
no it doesn't u ignorant infant. half reps at faster speed is harder than full reps.
dh144498 3 years ago
ignorant infant, he said "only". u can't even do 185 so quit bitching.
dh144498 3 years ago
why are all comements red.... some of them should be green. it is true that he did not do full reps. full reps without bouncing at the bottom with locking out... i say 8-10.
psychosadistik 3 years ago
steroids steroids steroids
akeloteirko 3 years ago
if he did steroids den he wodnt be able to do dat nd go to da wourld strongest man so get off yr fat ass and enter like him
joemon9086 3 years ago
where you there when he was taking steroids
nnamdieze87 3 years ago
its very impressive that he is able to do that weight that many times... but he never did one full rep. None of those would count in competition. My max, correctly is 345lbs, so regardless I am no where near where he is. Its impressive, but it would be better If he did it correctly.
isaymeanstuff 3 years ago
You don't know shit about the thing!
Those were half reps where you do not lock your arm. That is very hard to do.

i love how when somebody does something impressive they bring up roids. and by the way the average pro bodybuilder bench is 500lb. this guy just repped 585.
usdx329 3 years ago
that guy is a legend !!!!
Lorem0ipsum 3 years ago
holy FUCK. thats a ridiculous amount of weight, and you just threw it up like it was nothing. your max has to be well over 700 pounds. perfect form too.
Stanghole281 3 years ago
perfect form my ass.
he only touches his chest once.
which means that's one rep.
sorry bitch

.......moron....
qman1979 3 years ago
i have to agree with ecseger, perfect form my ass. still VERY impressive how easily he handles that weight, but I would be embarrassed to call that 23 real reps.
guyrelax 3 years ago
The thing is not about half or partial reps, but rather the way he held it at his neck at the very end and then did another two reps. Great video whether it's fact or fiction.
curtjames 3 years ago
What kind of weights can you shoulder press and squat
tazzarman 3 years ago
Thats pretty intense. His lifting/body weight ratio is probably insane too.
l3lackquel 3 years ago
it's not uncommon to sacrifice form for weight ... full-range strength for ego-strength ... i've done it ... years of slamming crap into my thighs ... moving big iron ... whether it's poor form or using dope ...
grjellyman 3 years ago
Pure natural strength, you might be stronger than most of the strongmen I see on TV
NotreDameHero 3 years ago
I really don't know what to make of this video... It seems completely real to me. If this guy truly did that with 585 lbs that is officially the most impressive thing I've ever seen in terms of weight lifting. He absolutely manhandled that, even with partial reps. Without a doubt, he can fully rep that b/w 10 and 15 times w/o trouble.
jcostoncain 3 years ago
If this is real, and it definitely appears to be, this guys max lift has to be 700+ which would have to put him in real contention for the biggest raw bench ever. Pretty amazing. Looked like he could have done a few more even. Many of the guys at the NFL combine couldn't do this many reps with 225 pounds.
