The boo-hooing in the previous post neglects the main point of this video, namely, a discussion of the theocratic reactionary coup and the bloody post 'election' crackdown. The retread arguments about empire below are rather insipid and change the subject rather than illuminate anything new. Fortunately, Amis does. The video was about the current dictatorship, the current abuses of power, the current filthy secret police. Luckily, Amis stuck to the point, unlike sann2338.

Martin Amis has a distorted view of history that is pro-American for some reason. He does not accept that America, and Britain before it, have treated the Middle East with utter contempt, raped it of its resources, destroyed its institutions, imposed sanctions, and unfairly singled out Iran of all the innumerable tyrannies of the world. I don't understand why he equates the support of Western moral liberalism with the support of Western imperialism.
