@Joaniefontana Be open-minded. You'll be thankful if you are. You probably are I'm just stressing no close-minded reader will understand this compex work unless you have an open-minded preparation towards its content. Phenomenal book
I read it at age 15. Now I'm 17 and have read it once more since. I hold a solid adoration for the book. It is deeply misunderstood. It goes beyond the facade of consumerism and materialism. It needs multiple readings as with the film. I love it. The black humour, the tone and the almost 'stream of conciousness' style in which it is written. People say you're not meant to have a liking for any of the characters. Yet somehow Bateman is so hilarious and brazenly lively that I can't help myself
@TeamPlasmaKingN I'm pretty sure you can get in most book shops, I picked mine up when I was on holiday in the US, so I got it in Barnes & Noble, but otherwise if its not in your local bookshop, try the book depository or amazon, they definitely have it! :)
@Joaniefontana nice review. I read this book (thankfully) before I saw the movie and yes I agree it was very intense. If you like putting yourself in the shoes of a dark anti-hero I can't recommend enough Philip Roth's Sabbath's Theater. The main character in this book is even more depraved than Bateman (which is hard to imagine). But its Roth so its also a great novel. The book that disturbed me more than both was the End of Alice by A.M. Homes. Check it out if you get the chance. :)
I Really Think You Should Check Out The Hunger Games Series,Its Really Good Or The Maze Runner Too. I Was Addicted To Those Books. I'd Like To Hear What You Think About Them If You Get A Chance To Raed Them :)
@LokiitaahJ The hunger games and The maze runner are on my to be read list which is getting longer by the day! Hopefully i'll get round to reading and reviewing them! :)
@Bigwave2003 Really? Honestly I've gotten really slow at reading, its takes me twice or three times as long to read a book, than it used to.... I don't think I'm fast at all..
Bret Easton Ellis is a genius. The Bateman character reappears in one of his newer books, LUNAR PARK, in which Ellis casts himself, quite literally, as the hero. I think it's his best work, self-referential and finally self-deprecating. Good stuff.
@1987Bateman To be fair I said that its a book that everyone should read , bit it still warrents a warning.
