  • todays 'country' AINT country at all!! It SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! the only time 'country' radio is worth listening to is during saturday night county gold....and they are even starting to squeeze in newer crap. Better hope to be fotunate enough to be in an area that can pick up a classic country station

  • @weaintfree GEEZER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @50bonehead Its obvious the only taste trolls like you have is in your mouth! Why do you bother to post your drivel?

  • Keith Whitley was one Country Guy the Rock Crowd Adored Because of the Honesty in his Mountain Blue Eyed Soul! I Miss Keith, Whenever I Hear Whitley's Rage, I Cry! I'm Over You is the Saddest Country Song Ever. Country is Over and Done but Rock will live Forever because of Whitley's Art! Rock in Peace, Keith!

  • country to the core

  • the olny 3 modren day country singers that sound identical to the reccord when they are life are ronnie dunn, alan jackson and jason aldean...what ever happened to the real country music...i will those days...well at least todays "country" aint as bad as modren rock or rap and that shit

  • Sing it Keith. Todays watered down generic, for the most part, entertainers can learn some real lessons from what Keith left us. He sang from the heart........ and a troubled one it was. Miss him.

  • I adore Keith. I grew up on him. My Daddy always said music is part of your soul, REAL music. Not the crap they call country today. I miss Keith, Patsy, and Ernest Tubb days!

  • "You heard I'm drinkin' more than I should..."

    Sadly prophetic. : (

  • Keith was the best. This song pretty much says it all. You think that you make people believe otherwise but inside you're dying and most of them can see it.

  • Don't flatter yourself. I'm over you. Lol I love that line. Btw Keith had a great voice and I will miss him 4 along time. Youtube "Will you miss me when I'm gone. Or " There's a new kid in town." For the Holiday season.

  • great song!!!!

  • tare it up keith

  • An absolute loss. This, kiddies is what country music 'is'. I feel sorry for some of you who never got to experience country music in it's true form and have been exposed to this toxic, barnyard pop that is considered country today. I know things must move in a different direction, however that doesn't mean I have to like it!

Thank goodness Jamey Johnson is trying to bring the country back to some degree.

I was country when country wasn't cool.

  • One Of My All Time Favorite Keith Songs. What Great Lyrics and Delivery On A True Account of Love Gone Wrong. One of the best country voices of our time. What a great loss for us. Thanks for posting.

Check out my version on You Tube at MosesRangelMusic

  • Great voice and Great Talent that's best describes Keith Whitley

  • what a voice. you'd recognize it half drunk passed out in the front yard. .............at least i did.

  • im 27 years old and i grew up on the old records of keith great singer i only drink when i play his tunes this heart ache and death make me change my ways i was bad into the booze and drugs till i had a daughter now i only drink now and then a trade i got from my father im no mean drunk but i wish i could kill the habit

  • I wont a big shout out to all those channels on the radio start playing real country please we wont the real country back not this crap now that i hear all the time i mean some of the music today is good but some are not! Some are just plan crap just plan crap really i will say that a million times if i had all that breath. This right here is not crap it is true country! Some people dont know when you lose a great singer and thats just bad. So if you like this press the up button thank you!!!!!.

  • One person must be Lori Morgan

  • Man

I remember the days when I heard this song. It was really different but I liked what he had to say. Good stuff!! You never know where you might discover inspiration to move on. Go Keith! Peace!

    KJK

  • @Kelleyj5 and yet there are so many people out there who just can't "let go" they know they should...they know that guy or girl they are with aren't worth crying over but yet we still do. some of us are just either really stupid, lost and stupid, or gluttens for punishment.

  • @Mel19782011 That's the truth. Where do I sign up?

  • I still have feelings for him. I guess you can never really get over him.

  • Best country voice ever...period

  • Today's so called country musicians could only wish to sound this good one day. The true meaning of country music has been lost to idolized pop culture and an idea of what country music should sound like. Its a shame to see the twisted path "country" music has been taken down. Long live the good ol days of country music.

  • @swidge69 Couldn't agree more.

  • i love this song, and... Keith's voice makes me "weak in the knees" Ha! It's funny but there are three favorite times i listen to great old country: when i am in camouflage on my way out to the bow stand, in my gardens, or when i am trail cruisen out in the back 40. ( ;

  • Number 1 fan from Northern ireland

  • @neil028 What part of Northern Ireland?

  • Been drunk ass hell to this song more times than i can count!!!!

  • Wow!! that was beautiful, what a song, what a voice, and yes Bud my friend, you do it credit with your great voice. This to me is country at it's best. As long as we have the great country singers, old type country will always be with us. Just love it.

  • @farmladyful Now you know who Keith Whitley was Joanie .. Aussie

  • @farmladyful old type is the BESTTTTTTT

  • I am so proud to say that I knew Keith Whitley personally. He was my brother-in-law back in 1983. I was married to his brother Randy Whitley at his untimely death due to a motorcycle accident. I remember listening to Keith in person for hours, even as a very young girl. I don't beleive that anyone has or will ever have a voice as great as his. Maybe I am a little parcel because he is also from my hometown, Sandy Hook, KY. Will always love and miss you Randy, Keith and nephew John.

  • @janielindon

I am not generally a big country music fan but I truly think that this is one of the best examples of the genre. Keith's voice is just mesmerizing. May he and Randy rest in peace.

  • Ex-wife song.

  • My favorite KW song...How he is not in the hall of fame yet is beyond me

  • fer all my exs im over you and well beyond moved on

  • My father just died broken hearted over a woman he could not have anymore. I will never be the same without him.REST IN PEACE Keith.REST IN PEACE TOBY.

  • my favourite country artist although he had a short stay. RIP.

  • This is a great song its a picker upper not a downer its nice just to get in my truck and crank this song it may not fix it but it sure makes me feel better

  • @bulloxerfan79 I agree, I love this song!

  • Good Song....Classic........Dunlow,West Virginia!

  • Things are not always what they seem, u can't believe everything u read, dont flatter yourself. To record executives, voting members, or anybody else who votes artists into the Hall of Fame. Get your shit together, the artists i have seen voted into the HALL has been a joke. Maybe 1 hit song, which took them 30yrs to accomplish. Keith had at least 5 in two yrs. Recognize him for his accomplishments, not his failures. Give him the respect that is due to him. Take flight Kentucky Bluebird!

  • @lno71 Couldn't agree with you more my friend

  • 100% Country music. He lived every word, sentence, and note in all his songs. He was the greatest. If u look up the meaning of country music, in webster's dictionary then u would find this man's picture there. Hall of Fame material no doubt. Nashville put him in the HALL he deserves that much, RCA u should be spearing heading this effort hell he made u guys money and after his passing u still made money off him. ICON, COUNTRY MUSIC ROYALTY, CLASS ACT, GREAT MUSICIAN,SINGER, This is Keith!!

  • I grew up on Keith Whitley. There are many life struggles and Keith went through one that was to tragic and could not ever overcome. His talent was on George Straits level and kicked out just as many hits in short period of time. He faced achololism, and the broken heart battles of "Lorrie Morgan". He loved that women so much, we will never know, but his songs sing it and we somewhat can relate. If Keith where still alive, there is no telling where he would be in country music. RIP MY FRIEND.

  • I love all Keith's music! He was an amazing singer and would have been a great talent just like George Strait!

  • A very talented singer. He was right up there with George Strait and Alan Jackson.

  • @58chevy11 Keith Whitley should be mentioned with Waylon Jennings and George Jones he was better than Alan Jackson and George Strait will ever be.

  • @stakfan I repect your opinion and although I like Waylon and George Jones I just cannot put them in the same category as Keith Whitley. I will agree with you on the fact that he does sing better than Strait or Jackson.

  • @58chevy11 I guess what I am saying is Kieth Whitley is more like George,Waylon and that group of singers who lived what they sang it just makes it more appealing to me but even though Waylon is my favorite I don't knock or argue about anyones opinion i prefer to respect it I think we can agree Kieth Whitley was an elite singer.TC

  • @stakfan You are exactly right and you have very good taste in country music as well.

  • @stakfan Waylon is my favorite too, but Keith has a way to my heart each and every time.

  • Keith Whitley,a true country artist legend! No other artist can touch his talent today, and maybe never will again! RIP Keith.

  • "you heard I've been drinkin' more than I should & I ain't been lookin' all that good" - this line is so sad, especially since this song was released after his alcohol-related death!

  • RIP keith, RIP the voice (vern goslin), RIP waylon, Your music will always be an inspiration and shine thru as real solid country gold, despite how many taylor swifts and kenny chesneys may come and go, there's still a select few of us that know what real country music is.

  • Ive said it hundreds of times, DAMN I MISS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC!!! Early 90s all the way back to Hank Sr, sooo many great singers. You can listen to them live & they sound just as good as the recorded version. REAL SINGERS. not at all ike this stuff today. Thank all of you real country singers like Keith, Vern & Crystal & john Conlee.. the list goes on & on.

  • @jennyevd im 15 and i like shenandoah, tracy lawrence john conlee goerge strait alan jackson mark chestnutt hank w jr perfect stranger sammy kershaw jeff chance wessley dennis conway twitty merle haggard travis tritt

  • @joe23ba I'm so glad you do. I think i was lucky to be growing up during the late 80s and early 90s because of the neotraditional movement in country music. good times :)

  • @japierce15 yes sir, back when girls knew how to be treated, back when rap wasnt influencing youth as today and much better dress!

  • @jennyevd many more go to my page and click favs to look and see if you find any music you wanna listen to that you coudlnt find man

  • Chris Young sounds a lot like him

  • Chris young's version is available on itunes, its good, but its def, not Keith.

  • It's been 23 years and I'm not over him yet, I'm afraid I never will be...

  • Man I really feel this song!!! And miss Keith! I remember when his song where on the Radio and top of the Charts!! So Cool!!!

  • haiiiizzz love country!!=)

  • I love this song...but God, how bittersweet it is, since it came out after Keith's death. Far more autobiographical than he probably ever wanted to admit. We'll never know what demons Keith was chasing with that bottle and those pills, but at least he's lending his wonderful vocals to God's heavenly choir now.

  • Noone like Keith Whitley. Check out this other version....great vocals...youtube.com/watch?v=oWeQwLjleh8

  • @ MrsPinky I know Tracy Lawrence did a remake of this song. I think there have actually been several other artists that have done it, so I'm not sure if that is the one you are referring to. Chris Young also did an amazing redition of it once at a concert I saw him at, but I don't think his version is out on CD.

  • I had forgotten this song!! I'm so happy I ran across this, gosh I was a little thing when this came out, but this is my fav kind of music, real tunes you can actually relate to! rip keith whitley

  • This is country. Great song, great singer is sure is a shame Keith is gone. We sure need some more like him these days.... with the garbage they are trying to pass off as country today!

  • My favorite Keith Whitley song by far wish he was still around.

  • Great arist, in every sense of the word, taken way too soon.

  • I love to listen to Keith Whitley. He had a wonderful voice and his life on earth was way too short.

  • OMG THAT IS A TUNE!!!!

  • i love this song.

there is a remake of it.

i'm not sure who sings it though..

  • @MrsPinky89071 keith whitley sings

  • his voice is freakin awesome..great song

  • His best song by far I.M.O.

  • it seems that many out there doesn't realizes what a talented singer songwriter was lost, a sad sad lost. rest in peace my friend, rest in peace. ole Vern is there also, and i my friend shall see you singing with our mighty Lord God's angels. what a loss for those here on earth, who has to listen to the new pop country music radios. but not me, i have many many many wonderful CD's of true Country singers song writers until i to leave this rotten rock where evil is good, and good is evil.

  • @ConditionOfAnonymity

There's nothing wrong with new pop country. It's not like true country

from the past will be lost or forgotten. Country is not evil either. Pop is not either.

It was rock 'n' roll that was considered evil. And heavy metal.

  • @compsciguy

Sorry, but there is something wrong with it. If I wanted to listen to Pop, there are plenty of pop stations out there. If I wanted to listen to CRAP(CountryRap), I'd listen to what's playing on the so-called country stations. Thank god for YouTube and CD's!!

  • @compsciguy You obviously have no idea what rock and metal are then. Neither one are "evil."

  • @ConditionOfAnonymity AMEN so true

  • @ConditionOfAnonymity wouldn't it have been great to see what Keith amounted to?

  • @ConditionOfAnonymity Couldn't agree with you more! I'm 22 years old and love true country music. you should check out some of my original material. I guarantee you it ain't like this stuff coming out of nashville. Will Banister And the album name is turned her on to country. Keith Whitley was great

  • @ConditionOfAnonymity It was a great honor to meet Keith in Catalina, Az., months before he died. Changed my life.

  • omg words cant say how much i love this song

  • I like this 1 to cowboy

  • There will never be music or people like him, hank, waylon and jonny ever again its so sad but there music will never die. amen

  • RIP Keith. The best country voice ever. I still miss you. I'll see you on the other side and we'll jam.

  • Great country song!! You've heard I'm drinking, more than I should!!

  • I heard a guy play this around a campfire a while back and just loved it...now it is in my favorites and Keith Rules all nations of cool. Now I must explore more of Captain Whitleys tunes. What a fuckin great song.
