That is a fantastic looking car, but I have always liked the way Marcos cars have looked. The handling looks a bit unruly though, but that might just add to the fun (unless you are on a wet road in traffic).

The last comment from Richard really bothered me. The Viper was tested in the rain, which means it could about 4 to 5 seconds better on a dry track. It is very annoying when they make this retarded remarks on American cars.

Also, speed3fosho does have a point. VWs are a lot more expensive to repair than a Japanese or American car.
The Viper has long since been surpassed on the Tope Gear circuit, so this is no longer an issue. And a number of the other cars have been tested in the wet too, and been faster than the Viper, so this is not really at issue any longer.
Viper is the fastest car that has even been driven in "very wet" with an impressive 1:28.5.
Lamborghini Murcielago did a 1:29.0 in "partly damp". They actually retested that car in dry, and it did a 1:23.7 lap, shaving off more than 5 seconds off the "partly damp lap".
If a Viper is faster in very wet than a Murcielago in partly damp, it is a LOT faster in dry. Viper isn't exactly made for slippery roads anyways.
Only 16 out of the 156 cars tested made it to less than 1:20. But I can barely relate that to our topic that is being discussed.

The Viper is an adequate car, but a very unsophisticated one. A large portion of its power is wasted, and it corners like the Queen Mary (the one in Long Beach).
I'd say you're both wrong, as A) the Viper is still in production and B) its lack of sophistication bears much of its charm, but also belies the fact that in the right hands, it'll run circles around supercars costing two and three times the price. ABS, traction control, and many other electronic aids can actually slow a good driver down, which is why race cars don't have them. Your Porsche with its sport chrono plus package will make an adequate driver look good, but slow down good drivers
The Viper won't run circles around many properly driven supercars, and it won't do so around any of the 'hypercars'. It's a cheap sports car, designed using barnyard technology.
The highest-tech vehicles are F1 cars, and many of the driving aids you mention have been disabled not because they slow good drivers down, but for the opposite reason - speeds were getting ludicrously and dangerously fast. Plus, F1 wanted to be more about the drivers and less about the technology.

after a quick google search, on yahoo motors i found that the porsche 911 is relatively the same price, however, the porsche's comfort and value IS lower. (half a star is half a star..ha)

They also haven't tested the new-er Viper, they only had the SRT-10. They bumped the engine .1 a liter to compete with the Z05, so I bet it would go pretty damn quick in the dry

Viper is supposed to be a fun, simple, comfortable super car. It never was a muscle car, and it still isn't.
Viper has way too much weight, and inadequate suspension and tires for the enormous torque it has. ACR proved it could be a superb track car, when their hardened and lightened version of Viper lapped the 'ring faster than every other street car, including every Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, Porsche...etc.
It isn't my favorite supercar either, but it sure is one of my favorites.
You should look closely at the "Powerboard" & have your eyes checked because the Viper SRT10 did the track "dry," NOT "wet" or "very wet." If the Viper did the track while it was wet or very wet, it would have a (W) or (VW) next to it, which it doesn't.

I don't see how it is inconvenient for me. It seems unfair because it IS unfair. On the wikipedia page it says "very wet" costs a car 6 seconds and damp costs 2 seconds on its laptime.

I'd say you're both wrong, as A) the Viper is still in production and B) its lack of sophistication bears much of its charm, but also belies the fact that in the right hands, it'll run circles around supercars costing two and three times the price. ABS, traction control, and many other electronic aids can actually slow a good driver down, which is why race cars don't have them. Your Porsche with its sport chrono plus package will make an adequate driver look good, but slow down good drivers

The Viper won't run circles around many properly driven supercars, and it won't do so around any of the 'hypercars'. It's a cheap sports car, designed using barnyard technology.
The highest-tech vehicles are F1 cars, and many of the driving aids you mention have been disabled not because they slow good drivers down, but for the opposite reason - speeds were getting ludicrously and dangerously fast. Plus, F1 wanted to be more about the drivers and less about the technology.

The ZR1 can be beaten by a lar fractionaly less then it. It's called the GTR. You can't afford either car and you can't drive them nealry as fast on the green hell so quit your bitching. after a quick google search, on yahoo motors i found that the porsche 911 is relatively the same price, however, the porsche's comfort and value IS lower. (half a star is half a star..ha)
plus with a porsche you wouldn't have the ability to say you can compete with true exotics. because the only thing porsche makes that competes with the Z06 is the carrera gt.

They also haven't tested the new-er Viper, they only had the SRT-10. They bumped the engine .1 a liter to compete with the Z05, so I bet it would go pretty damn quick in the dry

Viper is supposed to be a fun, simple, comfortable super car. It never was a muscle car, and it still isn't.
Viper has way too much weight, and inadequate suspension and tires for the enormous torque it has. ACR proved it could be a superb track car, when their hardened and lightened version of Viper lapped the 'ring faster than every other street car, including every Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, Porsche...etc.
It isn't my favorite supercar either, but it sure is one of my favorites.

You should look closely at the "Powerboard" & have your eyes checked because the Viper SRT10 did the track "dry," NOT "wet" or "very wet." If the Viper did the track while it was wet or very wet, it would have a (W) or (VW) next to it, which it doesn't.

Toyota's may be made in the USA (some of them, anyway), but they are still a Japanese firm and the designs are Japanese (with mods for the US market).
On any objective level, European and Japanese cars are streets ahead in both build quality and technology than their US counterparts.
