  • jajaja este tipo es Excitante! Y Esta Loco Pero Toca Como Quiere!

  • sick

  • On this date in 1973 {Mar. 3rd} "Hocus Pocus" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it would peaked at #9 & spent 19 weeks in the Top 100...

    Ranked 69th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1973 chart...

Reached #18 on the Canadian Singles chart and #20 in the U.K.

Was featured in the 1994 movie "Stone Age"...

  • thats way better then the crap thats on the radio now.

  • love that jazz opening.

  • like if you like this

  • 2:15 - 2:32 - Very Allman Brother-ish

  • He's giving Ian Anderson a run for his money in this video.

  • Te goed om waar te zijn. LOVE IT

  • Like! If you watch this in 2012!

  • 2:32 shit gets real

  • @SkynyrdX Are you stupid?

  • @bycharuan I like to think that I'm not. Your point being?

  • @SkynyrdX shit got real when he brought out the jazz flute dude

  • Dammit, now i'm late for school...

  • This group is really talented

  • Jan takens his Gibby Custom off his shoulders and winces at the weight he has bes holdiing. Gibbys are too heavy, buy a chambered Gibby LP, Jan.

  • The Dutch version of our beloved Jethro Tull, though Jethro leave them miles behind song wise. Love Jan's playing, this group are F**cking amazing. Trips all around, and really enjoyed.

  • these guys are weird

  • When I first heard this song I couldn't stand it, but it has really grown on me.

  • Brilliant...sheer genius

  • Brilliant!

  • So skilled it's unreal

  • A penalty to be born at a time when the term "song" was not used in its original sense, where rock progressive is seen like a sound weak. It's regrettable.

Focus is a amazing band. My condolences for who thinks unlike.

  • focus vrs jehtro tull???

  • Hocus Pocus, Still for my, a 14-year-old child, is the classic one.

  • mind = blown

  • Anybody else reminded of Jack Black in that vocal part?

  • @TheBrilliantSpy haha yes!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bought "Moving Waves" Album at K Mart 1970's for 99 cents, played it to death. Heard "Hocus Pocus" one night out fishing at the local lakes, never been the same since. Love this band then and always.

  • for.."dick Sparrow".

  • These guys were so great it's a shame they only get remembered for Hocus Pocus. They were so much better than that. The whole "Moving Waves" album is awesome. My opinion of course.

  • woooow they are AMAZING

  • I think some kudos should go to the camera work and real-time shot selections of this video's recorders. Consider the video shot selections and timing for the first 2:32, for starters. One has toi admit, the early 70's personnel, musicians and carmera crew, both seem to have had their sh#t together, for all the alleged cocaine and acid in their bloodstreams...

  • Hollands Glorie!

  • BONER!

  • oriorrlriorrlirorilriorlrirolriorilriorilirolirlriorlrioril popo

  • I need to listen this for my homework ^_^ (I'm dutch)

  • @yourisss How Awesome. I am in Australia. We would never be given anything as cool as listening to this for homework . I am jealous of you : )

  • Jan Akkerman o melhor,Thijs Van Leer entao nem se fala

focus e o verdadeiro som do rock

  • 2:31 to skip the intro ;)

  • @MrMaasland Why would you wanna skip the intro? o.0

  • @MrMaasland lol, it isnt a intro, it's the midsection of "eruption". and why the hell skip it? eruption is one of their best works!

  • @MrMaasland

You wanna skip the intro? hahaha you're fucking crazy, man

  • I only just got introduced to this tune. First time I heard it I thought it was nuts... but damn... it's amazing... how many tunes can you say have the balls to be as experimental and creative as this?

  • I was listening to this because a friend of my said I would love it. So I start, thinking I had never heard it before. Turns out while hearing the singers I've heard it over a billion times because my father always listens to it. Haha, never realized it's so amazing! :)

  • they should rename it

"the song of the stoned gorilla"

don't get me wrong, love this stuff

  • Here's a group that really kicks ass. Eat your heart out you talentless rappers/samplers/techno trash pretenders.

  • @lexcen

close minded comment, no better than a dubstep fan mocking 70's music.

realize music is an art and not a period. Yes this is a good song, but there are many talentless 70's bands who are far less musical than many current rappers/samplers/techno artists.

  • @fortychops9

A difference of opinion doesn't automatically indicate a closed mind. You can admire and appreciate and be inspired by rappers/samplers/techno artists and still accept that they are talentless. Yes there was much crap in the seventies without doubt. To prove my point, consider the band Sex Pistols. However much people might like them you can't argue with the fact that they were talentless garbage. What would you consider a talented rapper? Eminem perhaps?

  • @lexcen

Eminem has some talent for sure. Possibly not in his later (current) years, but 10 years ago when he was battling his way up through the masses of talentless hacks he did. I would consider RJD2 to be a more than talented sampler and the list of talent in 'techno' is too vast for this text box (but Deadmau5 is a good example for his talent at his live shows)

  • Thumbs up if J Cole brought you here!

  • who said the flute was gay.............well i did til i heard this

  • @2008nigerianprince - Apparently you can no longer post links here, but try a YouTube search for Jethro Tull My God (Live)

  • It's the Tim Conway Jr. Show .... on KFI!!!

  • Just heard this on the radio while driving home from school, and I fell in love with it immediately. The moment I got home, I looked up the name of it, and now I'm here.

  • @timric Good on ya, young un!

  • @timric

You're damn lucky for hearing this on the radio homie. Over here where I live all we get on the radio is CRAP 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

  • jakie rycie bani ;o

  • This inspires me to play my flute.

  • Tom Scholz from Boston modeled his Hammond C3 organ sound after he heard HPbyF. I personally shit a brick when I heard it when it came out, but I could live without the yodeling and spastic singer noises.

  • Comment removed

  • you can tell the rest of the band hates his yodeling or at least find it ridiculous. look at the guitarist's expressions while the lead singer does those awesome yodels. I read in another post that there was some tension between the two. makes sense.

  • Awesome!

What else is there to say?

  • lol @ the flute... tuttututututututut... :D

  • First is eruption, no ?

  • The reason why drugs should be legal. Try doing this Wet Wet Wet...

  • COLE WORLD

  • What Prog?

    Focus is Dutch Goodness.

  • great song

  • this is great stuff. i love focus!!!

  • Clearly they're getting sick of playing that number. It's rushed, The drums are over worked and there is a CRUDE ending which was meant for comic effect.

  • @quizpubbob or they were just not in their element on that day. Don't over analyse

  • makes me want to take acid, they're clearly on it

  • These guys had summa that good mellow yellow

  • Fell in love with Hocus Pocus while tripping my balls off, in 1972.

  • @BoltzmannsBrain Hope you managed to stick them back on before punk arrived.

  • @BoltzmannsBrain Wish i could have fucking been with along side you, i could only imagine how god damn amazing it must have been... Too bad i was born in 1988, though.

  • @BoltzmannsBrain - Some things never change - I fell in love with Hocus Pocus while tripping my balls off, in 1992!

  • Is someone squeezing the yodelers nuts?

  • lol the yodeling guy is mental, either he's on speed, or he has tourettes... or both?

  • @colt45isbest he doesn't have an illness, idiot.

  • @irondeth2 it's a joke pal, deal with it.

  • @colt45isbest yeah or hes just a fucking badass

  • fantastic......

  • This is just.... Brilliant!!

  • J.COLE

  • jude law plays the flute amazing!!! very underated musicicans !!!

  • Now I see where Andy Kaufman stole his act from............

  • Does anyone else think the guy with the flute looks quite a lot like Will Arnet? Very awesome song.

  • fucking love organ

  • this song is sick

  • spitflute

  • there must of been something wrong with them when they wrote this song

  • 3:15 to 3:32 It the part your looking for. Saved you some time.

  • I love how from the jazzy beggining they change to a much rocker style. Cool

  • How come this is the first time I listen to Focus.. WHERE THE FUCK HAVE I BEEN? Wandering on the internet 24 hs and NEVER listened to them. Luckily I'm young (16) and can listen to them for the rest of my life. Simply amazing. Made me smile like A BIEG SMILE. Thanks for putting this video.

  • This is your brain on drugs... and classical music.

  • 3:14 EPIC

  • i like how the guitarist stops on the middle of playing to hit his joint.

  • search focus - hocus pocus live '73... so much wilder!!

  • @NickleJ wow yeah it is great. I like this one more because, as there was no audience (we can realize because there were no claps or screams and they weren't on a special stage) they feel no pressure, and in the other they may feel and may affect. Plus I love the jazz at the begginig. XO

  • there's another version on here its only the second half but it will blow your mind... especially the end watch it you'll see

  • 3:15 to 3:32 favorite part, in the 2010 nike football ad

  • this made my day. and it has many times before, it will again.

  • Anyone else get a spanish advertisement?

  • @Sir473 it's italian

  • rhyming ftw!

  • How can people be so facking food? This is WOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWW!!

  • this is freaking amazing, i want to yodel like that!!! >:(

  • The guitarist is laughing because he is high!!! that yodeling bought him everything he ever wanted!!

  • Akkerman isn't from this world.

  • EPIC YODELING!!!

  • 8 people dont know SHIT about music.

  • You don't see talent like this in today's music.

  • Pure old skool , newskool or whatever but: craftmenship.

  • you can see the guitarist hold his laugh in when the yodeling stars

  • Simply, one of the best things I've ever heard!

  • I have never heard/seen this before. I have goosebumps -- (sadly, the late) Chris Wood, Ian Anderson and Focus -- Flute Nirvana!

  • Total bullshit that this amazing group never played a US tour. The whole friggin town out on L.I. waited for years for them to play live here in the states.

  • I don't think i've ever witnessed someone play the flute in such a 'furious' manner. what a tune though :D

  • 5:15 was is that?

  • jaah hollanders he!

  • Hey! Thats Hoocus Pocus By Focus!

  • FLUTE SOLO at the begining MASTERFUL wow great song some jammin Scandanavians....

  • @jonathanguitar27 They're Dutch. The Netherlands isn't considered part of the Scandinavian region. Nonetheless, that fluet solo was masterful, and those were some jammin Dutchies.

  • @jonathanguitar27

    ******flute. Pardon my spelling.

  • THE JAM AT THE BEGINNING TOTALLY RIPS....

  • its hilarious but great tune ! i cant stop laughing everytime that lee guy opens up his mouth

  • love the guitarist laughing in the background when he first yodels :P

  • BY THE Way!.......soccer is a european sport!............real americans do not recognize or respect it!.........our football is the fastest, baddest, roughest sport in the world!....period.

  • @ThorgrinHammer Rugby is the most badass sport followed by hockey, then your american football!

  • @ThorgrinHammer yeah. 30 seconds of action followed by 5 minutes of commercials from beer sponsors.

  • i was born in the early 60's in the greatest country that has ever been created in the history of mankind on this earth!...[u.s.a. of course!].....the FOUNDATION AND FREEDOM to provide and build for YOURSELF through your own action and work!...not depending on government!....the 50's,60's,70's, and 80's were an unbelievable time of opportunity, women, muscle cars....AND MUSIC!......we have strayed some,BUT ARE NEVER OUT!...MOST MUSIC TODAY SUCKS!!.....IT HAS NO CHARACTER OR HORSEPOWER!

  • Great version. I love this song. I was about 12 when this came out. Ah! Brings back all the old memories. Thanks for the show. Peace!

  • @squishedpimp .....you are only partly right I think, grew up at the time, yes, there was ""music for the masses"" as well.......yet, even THAT music was at a higher standard.......although, my honest opinion is that the 60's was the most inventive decade......in my eyes it all went wrong after Saturday Night Fever!

  • @Julaweric haha, you won't even get 1 thumb up!...

  • @Julaweric nop eyoure the only one =D

  • Is the song they play before hocus pocus a jam or an actual song ? if it's a song, anyone know the name ?

  • @cobian2006 The song is atcually a suite called Eruption, from the album Moving Waves. It's kinda medieval sounding, and has some of the best solos Jan Akkerman ever played!
