I hated the film for one reason: the premise of a Britain ruled by a totalitarian state was utterly laughable and not believable for one nanosecond. John Hurt as Hitler? Tim Piggott-Smith as a Nazi-style goon? LMFAO err, no. And the final image of the Houses of Parliament - perhaps one of the greatest pieces of architecture on earth - being blown up (I don't give a fuck if that's a plot spoiler) would only appeal to gibbering, dribbling lefties.
Another waste of an Alan Moore story. Stupid and heavy handed on all sides. Natalie Portman is awful, but it was awesome to see her head shaved. That was it's sole appeal.
V is neither terrorist, nor freedom fighter. He's an anarchist but most americans who don't understand big concepts like socialism, anarchism would obviously say the film would've been corrupt, when in fact anarchism is the best way to operate society.
a convincing mask performance can be actually quite difficult and especially on screen. part of the reason the other guy left was because he was frustrated about his work since he was stuck as a face performer, while hugo weaving had done mask work before and was able to give a truly impressive mask performance
V for Vendetta is a brilliat film, don't bring in your ideas of the graphic novel when you watch it, but as Mark said..as a stand alone piece, it's quite well made and fun.
He really ought to read the book. The plot is completely different. Basically, what the Wachowskis did was use the imagery and theme of the book as a platform for a statement about the Bush administration and 9/11. Kinda lame.
The film never lives up to the graphic novel.

The difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter is American sponsorship.

I liked the image of Baby Jessica used as propaganda in this flick, it made me laugh.

"acting is about more than seeing somebody's face", meaning Tom hardy will ROCK as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

@Regenmacher175 No it's not, and there's no evidence that it has ever been the best way to operate society.

While the book is very diffirent, this is by far the best adaptation of an Alan Moore book!A really good film in its own right.

Loved it, though Portman's accent is dodgy.

@hothotheat3000 Yea didn't she alternate from posh to cockney depending on what part of the movie you were watching?
JamesOhGoodie 1 year ago 2
@JamesOhGoodie The point is she starts of posh and innocent, kind of putting on a guise. It's only when the shit hits the fan her accent changes.

Little kid in episode 1, that pretty boy nit wit, green cross code, crispy man and james earle jones' voice.
Five not four Mark.

@Filmzie Technically the kid isn't playing Darth Vader, he is playing Anakin Skywalker. AS doesn't become DV for a long time.
