Just to be clear, according to most scholars including Bart Ehrman, the Gospels were written anonymously and the names (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) were only added in the 2nd century. Hence, the Gospels are not eyewitness testimony.
Moreover, Paul, who wrote about 1/3 of the New Testament never met Jesus in the flesh. He heard a voice and saw a bright light; again, not an eyewitness testimony to the life and events of Jesus' life.
However, this is not evidence that the Bible isn't true.

At the time I came to faith in God in 1978, I knew very little about hell. The church I grew up in, never taught about it. The problem I had, I was being bullied, but not by God, by Satan, and I was tired of it.

@AirontheThong I don’t know if I can make that connection. Satan is a creation of God, but doesn’t listen to Him much. Actually the church I grew up in taught nothing. It’s a long story but my mother took us out of the church after my father’s death. Most of what I learned about the bible came from a pot dealer who used to get high and preach the bible at the same time. That’s what led me to coming to God.

@AirontheThong These spots don’t give you much room to explain things. How I came to God is a very complicated story, I never told it to anyone. The pot dealer didn’t interpret anything. It’s just that I learned more about the bible from him then I ever did in church and that’s what got my attention. This went on for months. I did end up finding it on my own, and still didn’t go to church for months. A very strange story.

Just to be clear, according to most scholars including Bart Ehrman, the Gospels were written anonymously and the names (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) were only added in the 2nd century. Hence, the Gospels are not eyewitness testimony.
Moreover, Paul, who wrote about 1/3 of the New Testament never met Jesus in the flesh. He heard a voice and saw a bright light; again, not an eyewitness testimony to the life and events of Jesus' life.
However, this is not evidence that the Bible isn't true.

At the time I came to faith in God in 1978, I knew very little about hell. The church I grew up in, never taught about it. It’s a long story but my mother took us out of the church after my father’s death. Most of what I learned about the bible came from a pot dealer who used to get high and preach the bible at the same time. That’s what led me to coming to God.

It’s just that I learned more about the bible from him then I ever did in church and that’s what got my attention. This went on for months. I did end up finding it on my own, and still didn’t go to church for months. A very strange story.

Is this guy for real?? Heck, even I know the Bible was written way after Jesus died - and I haven't even, nor intend to ever read it! Guess I'll be seeing everybody in hell! Which quite frankly, I'd rather do than be with a bunch of people in white robes saying "praise be with Him", "God is Lord" for all eternity. That would be quite disgusting, IMO!

You can tell that he did not have the same good intentions here - he was not trying to have a rational argument with her, he presumed she was an idiot and proceeded to talk at her like a teacher to a delinquent student, when in reality, Laci continually comes across more educated than this guy.

Bible was writen by man, new testament was made on top of old testament, the new testament was made by the romans, they used characteristics from many religions they 'collected' within their empire. something that is writen in either the bible or a dead sea scrolls doenst have to be historical fact. religion was made to controll the ever expanding roman empire, the romans understood the difference between Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

One pet peeve i have however is that Christians say 'God' as if that is Yahweh's name...no. God is a title like President...President Bush isn't his name, even if we say things like "Mr. President" there are other gods mentioned in the bible, although demonized Yahweh is his name, and God is a translation

Your arguments make no sense. I am a well educated Wicca, and I'm kind of tired of people using scraps of useless information to say that their religion is one hundred percent true. I do not believe that Wicca is one hundred percent true, but it is the path I follow, I find it silly that people think that there is one true religion, when the fact is, there is almost no way that any of the people who started religions could have been exactly right.

you cannot refute religion, nor can you prove it. how is one religion more valid than another? "Do not worship any other god for I am a jealous god." envy is a sin, why should we worship a god, who is so hurt from sin that he is willing to condemn humanity, but who sins in himself? Envy is even the sin that is listed in the ten commandments, but even our "perect" god, sins himeslf..... hrm just throwing that out there. the bible contradicts itself imho.

This man was considered a quantum physics genius and the scientific community was eating up his BiG Bang theory back in the late 80's. There is a 12 yr old genius at Purdue University Indianapolis, with an IQ higher than Einstein named Jacob Barnett. His making the Big Bang Theory look like miscalculated crap. Science changes, things we thought facts 50 yrs ago are no longer true.
