I love both cars, trying to decide between witch one to get. I dont need help deciding because all you bmw retards think american cars cant handle, i dont wanna listen to that. If you guys watched motor trends videos you would know that the 2011 mustang GT (a $30,000 car) went around a track in almost the same time as a 2011 BMW M3 (a 50,000) car. I think thats pretty self explanatory. I do admit im leaning towards the bmw but i still love the mustang.

The interior is about the most reliable part of the car from everyone i know who's owned one. Or even asking local mechanics. If you tell them you own a BMW they're reply is usually "Oh, well I'm sorry to hear that". Reason is you'll have to get it fixed more often and parts are outrageous and the value of the car depreciates radically. Not to mention 20mpg or less

It will never be game over for the Mustang because it is not in the same category and will be over 30K cheaper. That next M3 making more power will probably be over 70K and that will not help sales numbers. They need to make something performance oriented for under 45K first.

The Mustang is much less expensive and the fact that it is even compared with the M3 and holds its own is a win for the Mustang. You know what happens when any BMW meets a C6 at the strip or road course and they are closer in price.

There's a video of a twin turbo M50 in a E30 BMW, running mid 8's in the 1/4mile. The only reason why Ford wins awards is because they are mass produced, so of course they need to do safety ect. BMW makes cars with the utmost care and have more safety then any other automaker out there besides maybe Subaru. I'd rather crash in my 87 BMW E30 then a 2011 Mustang Cobra. The 2010 GT will be a fantastic car (400 something hp, right?), and a few thousand dollars worth of suspension work will turn it into quite a track car - but the E46 M3 isn't designed to compete against a car is 10 years newer. Especially in a straight line.

Further on Benz created all the essential things a car needs to drive: Firing of petrol by a strong electric spark, Cooling of the engine by water, the clutch etc.

E46 owners better not try that against a 2011 GT because it will get smoked badly. the new GT barely edge out the 2011 M3 coupe in the 1/4 in Motortrend. The fact that they are even compared in a major publication and ran neck and neck speaks volumes about how far the Mustang has come. It is a beast.

If 2 boxers step into the Ring and one is a millionaire and the other is from the hood, what is the only thing that matters when that bell sounds? The fact of the matter is, Ford is ahead of BMW in reliability studies and some of their luxury models are several spots ahead. I get your point, but it doesn't take away from the fact how far the Mustang has come from a performance perspective. People looking to buy a BMW or Mustang are different.

@myuzz Then it will have to also deal with the Boss 302 which the handling is already much better than the GT. It will never be game over for the Mustang because it is not in the same category and will be over 30K cheaper. That next M3 making more power will probably be over 70K and that will not help sales numbers. They need to make something performance oriented for under 45K first.

The Mustang is much less expensive and the fact that it is even compared with the M3 and holds its own is a win for the Mustang. You know what happens when any BMW meets a C6 at the strip or road course and they are closer in price.

There's a video of a twin turbo M50 in a E30 BMW, running mid 8's in the 1/4mile. The only reason why Ford wins awards is because they are mass produced, so of course they need to do safety ect. BMW makes cars with the utmost care and have more safety then any other automaker out there besides maybe Subaru. I'd rather crash in my 87 BMW E30 then a 2011 Mustang Cobra. I don't bash automakers because they do have other cars that are amazing. But don't make stupid jokes like Ford is above BMW.

is that even a gt mustang i raced the same car with my gt but had one chance i won at start than i put it back on 1 gear not 3 i fucked up doing it quick but i think i can take the m3 with my gt. the mustang cobra would smoke the m3 though

@hamad638 - Yes, please put a 2010 Mustang up against a car released in 2000. What's 10 years difference, anyway? The 2010 GT will be a fantastic car (400 something hp, right?), and a few thousand dollars worth of suspension work will turn it into quite a track car - but the E46 M3 isn't designed to compete against a car is 10 years newer. Especially in a straight line.

@The93Bimmer For the 2011 model year the M3 and Mustang GT will have around the same horsepower and the Mustang weighs almost 100lbs less. Not to mention the fact that the Ford has about 100 more lb feet of torque. I say we wait until this race becomes a reality.

Well yeah foreign engineering is beyond amazing but the price tag that goes along with it isn't where as you would spend brand new 20,000 dollars on a american made v8 even though it definately is not as good as the inline 6s take the price diff of that of a BMW m3 and mustang gt and you can afford twin turbos and all the bolt ons..
