@tantien4LiFe leaning back and popping is how an ollie is preformed, if you want to just jump then it would be called jumping lol :) and any way an ollie just feels cooler, looks steazyer, and makes you look like you know what youre doing haha.

@tantien4LiFe ollies give you pop and stability in the air. Jumping can throw you off and works your legs a little harder than necessary, and if you don't time it right, you can get the "bottom dropping out" feeling or the "straight leg". Ollies help you set up for a jump better.

I currently ride with my front foot at about a 20 + degree angle and my back foot perpendicular to the board. I would like to get better at riding switch, would setting up my board so both feet are perpendicular help.

@IBlendFruits not really if you want to learn to ride switch you should have both feet at like 15 degrees so that you dont have any drag in the snow and so that it feel the same switch as normal

@IBlendFruits Just to clarify, that would be "duck" stance or "mirrored" stance where your feet are pointing away from each other so it would be 15, -15. Try it however you would stand comfortably without your board on. You don't stand with your feet perfectly at 0 degrees, or with your feet pointing in the same direction, but pointing slightly away from each other. But you probably figured that out already. 10, -10 works pretty good for me.

Watch carefully peeps - you can only Ollie properly when you rock forward first - rock forward, then load that tail... release... and the board will pop YOU into the air. You don't pop the board into the air. Sheesh.

@philwert yeah, try first on ground without a snowboard: Its very similar to a normal jump with both feet. However for a snowboard jump, bend both legs, lift your front leg, and then complete the jump with your back leg. Now strap in and jump the same way you did on flat ground. you should feel your weight transfer to the back of the board causing and spring upward as you jump. Make sure you stay balanced over the center of your board so you don't fall backward.

i find skateboarding harder than snowboarding ( i used to skateboard, 6 years )

but i find snowboarding way cooler and much more creative in terms of tricks since you have your feet attached, you can spin which on a skate board is quite impossible lol backflip on a skate board ^^
