  • I love this one so much. It holds a very dear subject to my heart. Happiness is a warm blanket. Hate on people all you want for their security blankets but we are happy with them.

  • Where's Patty?

  • The peanuts were so popular, I think there should be a new Peanuts film, this time, it might be a full length theatrical feature, all about Charlie Brown, not Linus, who could fight against hatred with the power of love, Pocahontas style, to make resolutions for the gang somehow. How's that for a future?

  • YES

  • I still need my blanket too!

  • I saw the end of this before I went to school today, I wish it came on later.

  • I cracked up it was exellent. Also I relized some else. You people alwyas want the old days back now you got them and yet you STILL STILL STILL (please note that I said that three times on purpose) find fault. Like my senior mom says. ''Your never gonna please somebody. They'll just find something else to complain about.''

Lol do you know how much you guys are proving those words right!?

  • This was horrible and does not deserve the title Charlie Brown.

  • @PENGUlN124 How was this any worse than other Peanuts films? It went straight to the source and used old strips for material.

  • This is a feature film? Wow haha. I actually love the animation style. Even if it's CG, it looks so close to the originals. Have any of you seen the new Garfield show? Jesus christ that's bad!

  • @TheStanCave CG? Where are you seeing anything computer animated in this? It wasn't even made in Flash.

  • Why is Linus using Charlie Browns line "Good Grief" over and over again?? This is a travesty of the peanuts!

  • This is a horrible, boring and phony peanuts. This is NOT the real Peanuts!!!!

  • Charlie brown ... The cartoon heart!!

  • After Charlie brown valentine, this was the 2nd worst peanuts yet. I have a top 5 best and top 5 worst list: Best: 1. A boy named Charlie Brown 2. It's the great pumpkin 3. Charlie brown Christmas 4. He's a bully 5. Bon voyage Worst: 1. Charlie brown valentine 2. Happiness is a warm blanket 3. It's the pied piper 4. Charlie brown thanksgiving 5. Be my valentine
  • Eh.

  • The color is too vibrant and 'digital'. Would've been cool had they passed the video through a filter to make it look more retro.

  • In the scene where C.B throws a piece of candy in the air and Linus snaps at it, It kind of looked like Linus killed Snoopy.

  • This cartoon aired on FOX tonight.

All I can say is... where were Peppermint Patty, Franklin, and Marcie?

  • lovely man, just lovely!!!!!

  • Lee Mendelson must have nothing else to do. After Bill Melendez died, he should of just called it a day and stopped Peanuts specials. This looks a bit good, but it won't be the same. I do like that they brought back the late 50's, early 60's feel of Peanuts.

  • @avalanchesuperstar

Actually, Lee Mendelson DIDN'T produce this. Which makes it even more strange----it's the first time there's been a Peanuts film that neither he nor Melendez had anything to do with.

  • @Marbles471 Interesting. I noticed it shows Woodstock, who didn't really appear until 1967, so it may seem off. But I like that they brought Snoopy back to his original roots...as an insane neighbourhood dog.

I do think it's nice that they used archived footage of Bill Melendez for the voice of Snoopy (and Woodstock, if he's in the film). After all, he was the only person that could perfect it (with the help of speeding up the tape, of course).

  • @avalanchesuperstar

You know, I used to think that Melendez's bizarre growls, gnarls and howls were as weird and un-doglike as the rest of Snoopy's personality, but then I got a dog who sounded remarkably like Snoopy when he was a puppy. So I stand corrected. X)

  • @Marbles471 That means that it might actually be GOOD (Frosty Returns was the BIGGEST p.o.s. ever put onto TV).

  • Oh no! It's not CGI and doesn't have Katy Perry and Zac Efron voicing it! What kind of sick movie is this?!

  • @tredlow A Peanuts movie, My friend! :)

  • I loved how they retained the 60-80-ish video quality for a 2010-2011 movie.

  • this trailer's stupid, but the movie's surely fantastic

  • @84heroes1 I first saw the preview at Target. Either I wasn't paying attention to the "all new adventure" part or I walk in the middle of the preview. They were showing it at Target over and over. But it looked '60s though. Same type of jazz music. Same kiddy voices I remembered from "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown".

  • It was nice to see...FINALLY...Patty, Shermy & Violet in a movie since 1969 and they ACTUALLY spoke!!! Not missing Peppermint Patty though.

  • they ruined it...those bastards

  • @SergeantLuke

Nothing can touch what Peanuts did from 1960-1980, and that's coming from someone who really likes Calvin and Hobbes.

  • I watched the ending and i disagree with linus when he compares his insecurity by needing his blanket with the others,i mean how can he compare love(lucy) and musical talent(schroeder) with himself having to suck his thumb holding a blanket and even worst how can they agree with him

  • Not fond of the animation.

  • i LOVE Linus AND HIS BLANKET IT TO CUTE!!!

  • i LOVE Linus

  • I thought there wasn't going to be any charlie brown specials after Schultz request when he passed away. What is going on.

  • @DarkGreen2000

What's going on is that people miss this kind of thing

  • Never seen it, but this is the first Peanuts original film in 36 years. The last time they made a Peanuts film called "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don't Come Back!)" and it was from 1980.

  • i want your youtube name1

  • The script for this special was written by none other than Stephan Pastis. Yep, the "Pearls Before Swine" guy.

  • I thought that Happiness Is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown was a delightful, entertaining, funny and smart movie about accepting our insecurity. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

  • I seriously have to give credit to whoever was in charge of the art/animation direction. When I first saw the trailer for this, I thought it was one of the 60's specials, one that I never saw yet. Great return to form, Charlie Brown and friends!

  • I cannot express enough how pleased I am to see this style of Peanuts cartoon again! I hated the recent stuff that has been put out. I gave up all hope. All my favorite episodes were from the 60's. Then I see this! BRILLIANT MOVE! I LOVE IT!!!! Please make more and more! I will keep buying!

  • It wasn't a tv special. It was an original movie.

  • LOL

cause Zionism control the world !!?

  • why does that video REBECCA BLACK FRIDAY come up in the suggestions. I mean it's just that it's so RANDOM.

  • if u want a copy visit my channel for free download tutorial..more movies on my list u can select the best one

  • Also, this special had one of their best child voice-over acting in the entire animated series: When Linus screams repeatedly, "TELL ME WHERE YOU BURIED THE BLANKET!" I seriously cracked up. Great delivery!

  • Loved the old characters' return, quadrupedal Snoopy, and old-school 60's animation. Kind of made the whole thing feel like a tribute to A Charlie Brown Christmas. Even had a great flashback that featured the very first Peanuts strip: "Good ol' Charlie Brown... How I hate him!" Excellent job, far better than the last couple releases, "He's a Bully, Charlie Brown," and (GAG!) "It's the Pied Piper, Charlie Brown." Kinda missed Peppermint Patty, but she would have been out of place.

  • Cool! I love the fact that it sticks to the original style instead of getting the tacky 3d CGI treatment and a generic Hollywood plot. We need more classic style cartoons like this!

  • I've got to see this!

  • I saw it on demand it was awesome Schroeder was in it and patty the 1st one and you never guess VIOLET AND SHERMY I can't believe it oh and good ol pig pen and linus was right Schroeder has a beethoven problem and I think Schroeder is afraid of lucy it was awesome and right before seeing the kca's

  • going to buyh!

  • Good, now lets work on uploading the movie shall we?

  • @robertsfunny1995 OR U COULD BUY IT

  • @TheDailyCrumb2 Where am I going to get the money for that?

  • @robertsfunny1995 Done. =)

  • @nomoreusernameavail Really :D?

  • @robertsfunny1995 Sorry, I rarely check this account. I know the reply is 3 weeks too late but to answer your question, I did. But it's had been removed since. =(

  • There should be an animated series on this, you know I will be a family/adult-comedy, what do you think?

  • My childhood has officially come back to me.

  • Well, after watching the movie I have four words; MONEY VERY WELL SPENT :)

  • The animation and the new kid actors were INCREDIBLE!!!

  • @zingarzahoy26 and the way Andy Beall voiced Snoopy; he sound 100% EXACTLY like Bill Melendez.

  • It looks pretty great, but the voices are too crisp and rehearsed. In other words, I can see they brought back a more "classic" visual style, but they didn't bring back the "classic" audio style -- it needs to be a lo-fi recording with untrained child actors.

Still nice to have a new special after all these years. If they do another one, this looks like a good start.

  • This is already onsale at walmart! I picked mine up on friday! They have the exclusive to sell the blu-ray...I watched it and I liked it even tho some stuff was the same...liked the voices and animation..and especially how they made snoopy look like he did from the 60's

  • More Peanuts.. And in the original style! It's not even 3D like a lot of series.

Poor little guy. His blanket is his blanket; just let the kid be. I wish Marcie and Patty would appear though, they appeared in so many movies and strips and are so popular.

  • @TheEscapedBalloon Charlie Brown was never meant to be animated in 3D. I would never watch a Peanuts special if it had 3D CGI animation

  • Wow I thought they were done making the Peanuts. I want to see it!

  • Although He's a Bully, Charlie Brown sucked, this actually looks good.

  • @BrandontheMovieGuy yes that one sucked...and animation sucked too...

  • What; no Peppermint Patty?! She was around in the 1960s (she first appeared on "You're In Love Charlie Brown" and has been a regular character in the specials since then). In fact, when Peppermint Patty debuted in the comic strip in 1966, it seemed Schulz used her a LOT at that time

  • how did they get their voices to sound the same from back then!

  • @gabrielandrose

They found some good actors and actresses that could imitate them, or make their own takes that sound like them.

  • the wait is over?

    We were waiting?

  • @AngelusDlion

Peanuts fans were. The series ended a decade ago, the last special was in 2009 I believe, and the last movie aired years ago. They've been producing Peanuts stuff for years, it's had over 50 animated features.

  • @TheEscapedBalloon I'm aware of that. But if you'll please excuse me, I've been cynical of new stuff from beloved franchises being made after the original creators death since cat in the hat. Hopefully my cynicism will be misplaced.

  • The title is an obvious take-off on The Beatles song "happiness is a warm gun" from their 1968 "White Album" - nice to see how relevant they still are.

  • @LODGE4444 No, "Happiness is a Warm Gun" was written and recorded well after Charles Schulz had already had great success with the Peanuts book "Happiness is a Warm Puppy". I believe the story behind "Happiness is a Warm Gun" is that John Lennon saw a gun magazine of George Martin's that said "Happiness is a Warm Gun" on the cover, an obvious take on "Happiness is a Warm Puppy". No matter what, it is an excellent Beatles song.

  • It's so NINETIES.

A preview before Land Before Time.

AND NOW FOR YOUR FEATURE PRESENTATION.

  • original movie? looks more like rehash of old clips :/

  • 1 guy has never had a blanket

  • Happiness is a new episode from one of my favoriteand most beloved cartoon series, Charlie Brown.

  • I'm really glad that Warner Bros. owns the rights to produce Charlie Brown DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Otherwise, if Disney claims rights to the Peanuts, it would be a "complete disaster" for yours truly. Personally, Warner Bros. is my most favorite while I despise Disney with every inch of my body.

  • @NightShadow720 Well I wish WB would put Race for Your Life and Bon Voyage Charlie Brown on DVD instead of re-issuing the holiday DVDs for the 10th time. This is getting rediculous.

  • @113dvdsandcounting I know, right? The trouble is that Race for Your Life and Bon Voyage Charlie Brown were originally distributed by Paramount Pictures.

  • @NightShadow720 I wonder if Paramount still owns the rights...or if anyone does. I just can't believe no one has released those two movies on DVD.

  • @113dvdsandcounting

Aren't those two movies still owned by Paramount?

  • @NightShadow720

Allow me to add my nuanced two cents:

I love Disney, but I hate Disney the company.

  • I like how Linus uses his blanket to whip that coin into the air and Snoopy into the bush. Linus is my favorite character.

  • @Jahzara777 I think it was a doggy treat, but yeah that was awesome.

  • They have made 7 new specials since Schulz died in 2000. All of them have been based on daily comics. "It's the Pied piper CB" 2000 "a CB Valentine" 2002, "CB's christmas tales" 2002, "lucy must be traded, CB" 2003, "I want a dog for Christmas, CB" 2003, "He's a Bully, CB" 2006, "happiness is a warm blanket, CB" 2011. Charles Schulz was actually working on Pied piper at the time of his death.

  • Yes that is true. When Shultz retired before he died him and his family decided that peanuts would end with him. And yes no new dialogue at all. And @ simpsonsfan89..this is the story of Linus and his blanket. I believe this set of stories are from the early 60's.

  • Sally'd voice is adorable!

  • @braindeaddrummer, Did Charles Schultz ever do a story about Linus trying to give up his blanket?

  • @simpsonsfan89 Yes..these are the stories from the daily comics from the early 60's

  • Linus will never get rid of his blanket, no matter what anyone says.

  • That was their intentions with this special. This is the first special not done by Melendez and Mendelson. It was actually directed by someone who worked for Pixar. They have actually been on the big screen many times: A boy named Charlie Brown (1969)Snoopy come Home(1972)Race for your Life, Charlie Brown(1977) and Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown(1980). But the thing with the peanuts specials, is that they can only do it on what he has written in comics already. No new dialogue and story at all.

  • Does that mean they're not allowed to write even one new line of dialogue, if they feel that's needed to make the cartoon version of the comic flow better? Wow... how did this rule come about? Was it part of Charles Schulz's will?

  • @braindeaddrummer

I understand why that caveat was put into place, but honestly, it's got to be pretty constricting. If, like Mesterius suggests, they can't even insert a new line here and there to help things flow better, the stories might not be very cohesive. Granted, that was ALWAYS a problem with some specials, but it's more pronounced in the ones made since Schulz died.

In a way it's also sort of poignant, like the characters aren't truly "alive" anymore---these are ghosts.

  • @Marbles471 I agree...on the dvd the director commented on how hard it was to "write" this script..he had to go through 50 years of comics to get stuff related to linus' blanket. But I did like it..it was one of the better ones since he died. Liked the animation..snoopy looked "60's" lol

  • @braindeaddrummer

When that was negotiated, apparently the Schulzes didn't have the foresight to make sure the "no new dialogue" rule also applied to PRINT material. Because Boom Studios has just come out with "Peanuts #0," supposedly the first of a series. New stories and art in comic book form. I read a preview online, and I'm very sorry to say that despite the fact that I went into it with an open mind, it looks AWFUL. The dialogue is so out of character. and the art doesn't ring true.

  • @Marbles471 Well, the Schulzes might have been referring to recollections of Peanuts comics, e.g. the Complete Peanuts set.

But that is rude, selfish, and terrible that some idiot(s) are going around doing their version. Schulz clearly stated in the last Peanuts comic that he wanted nobody to continue the comic.

I mean, other artists have draw Peanuts as well, like in the Dell comic books. But Schulz allowed it and he even drew a few Dell comic book Peanuts stories as well.

  • @Marbles471 Schulz only had himself to blame. Nearly every other strip artist out there owns the rights to their creation (Family Circus creator Bil Keane helped make that happen), but Sparky thought if he let the syndicate own the rights then they can have all the headaches about copyright and licensing just so long as they kept sending him big fat checks every month.

  • Interesting how the characters have reverted back to their 60's look

  • @kc86er It's like mega man 9.

Only not at all like that.
