So James Karen (Lassiter) was responsible for ending Little House on the Prairie. Who've thought that several years later he'd be responsible for those damn canisters leaking in that medical supply warehouse? (Return of The Living Dead)
I have watched this show since I was 4 years old! I have loved it for many many many years! I have always loved watching Michal Landon's acting! This show is truely timeless! I hated to see them blow it up esp. the bording house! There will sadly never be a show like this one! I will always love Walnut Grove! R.I.P. Michal Landon and Victor French! Michal Landon really knew what he was doing when he made this! I don't care what anyone said about him! He was a true family man!!! We love you Mike
11:03 Kevin Baker (Doc Baker) has said in past interviews that he couldn't speak for all the other actors who were involved in the emotional final blow-up scenes, he himself thought it was an inappropriate way to end the series. He believed that realistically, the strong and kind townspeople of Walnut Grove wouldn't be so ridiculous as to destroy their homes and livelihoods just so other people could not make use of them.
When the series started dwindleling down in the last season, Melissa felt she was ready to move on, have her boyfriend, and hang out with friends. But when she was approached about the official series finale, she was immediately upset and thought, "I'm not ready for this!" Her character's emotion in the final scene wasn't all acting, since she herself was so devastated about leaving the series behind.
When the scene reached its highly emotional end, Michael left Melissa with some very important words: "This isn't the end for you, This is just the beginning." Lindsey Kennedy (Jeb Carter-season 9) has said he overheard this as Michael said it to her, these words have remained with Melissa and Lindsey to this very day..
@dyn7g ... At the end of the series, Micheal Landon did not want anyone to use the set (the Town) in any other move or series, since he owns the rights to the show he decided to do this, kinda crazy but a perfect way to close out Little House and to not see the set in any other shows.
Basically Landon threw a huge hissy fit of rage, and was determined the network wouldn't get their hands on the set because they cancelled the show and never told him properly. So he arranged to get the whole thing blown up. If you look carefully you can see they weren't even proper houses, just facades and a lot of plywood supports. Also there was a lot of stupid music in the background just like all Landon's stuff. Very lame!
I think that the emotion some of the actors show here are also real not played, since the town theyve been filming on for so many years gets destroyed. I know i would cry

@klaasjan111 Because it was a rented area through out the entire series. It was in the contract, once it was over they were going to have to put the area back in its original state. But it was also said at the last minute the network may had wanted to keep it, but Michael Landon decided against it and didn't want the set to be used again. From what I heard, he was very upset how the network went about cancelling the program and didn't even bother to tell him to his face (like most of them do).
why did they blow the house?
