Im still waiting for the aasimar to come out. The deva... sucks, sadly. I blame the blue skin thing. They are supossed to "possess heavenly beauty" and... they just dont.
They also said they wouldnt just add things into a balance like it was in the past because "that wasnt professional designing". Well, they went back to it. God please let the aasimar, the real one, come back in the phb3
what the f***? He spends about 2 and a half minutes waffling on about softball. I didn't come to this video to hear some waffle about some shitty bat and ball sport that has nothing to do with D&D. Less waffle more interview next time..
Drow and Genasi from Forgotten Realms books at least. Gnome, Doppelganger, Bugbear, Goblin Hobgoblin Kobold and Orc from Monster Manual. Oh yea and two Shifters from MM too. So yea that leaves Half-orc, Deva and Goliath that clocktower4 mentioned, at least.
This info is from using the DnD insider character builder by the way, so don't kill the messenger.
Has anyone truly found out what is on the Player's Handbook 2. For classes so far they have released Druid, Warden, and Evoker, but what are the races?
Gnome, half-orc, Shifter (basically werewolfish), Devas (basically Aasimar), and goliaths. For classes they've also included barbarian, bard, sorceror and shaman and something called the avenger.
i know like 25 of the powers in phb 2 ha ha and all the classes and races, ive seen the gnome and avenger art from the book with their traits tooooo yeaaa just go to d&d 4th edition com and go to the photos and zoom on your computer.
You can already play Drow, Shifter, and gnome if you use the templates in the back of the monster manuel. I do not allow half-orcs into my campaign just because their existence makes little to no sense.
What kind of crap is this? I dont think either of them is reaaly into the D&D Game or into roleplaying of any kind. This is embarrassing for Players and wizards of the Coast.
Why buy a crap-ton of books and minis to tabletop simulate a pc game with better graphics? For me, the draw of tabletop rpgs has always been in the story and characters (not the characters combat stats).
FINALLY! i totally agree with you. i hate "mechanics" players. I play for the one thing video games can't deliver, a truly interactive and robust story driven experience. but i guess we don't matter any more. with each passing moment dnd is becoming more and more like WOW. i give up
I must say a thing, i haven't played the Original table-top DnD, but i must complain with a some small things! they dosen't talk of the Eladrin! thats why i even watch this vid! for see about them! An' i know that the "Arcane" Elves they talkin' about was them but i wanted to see more about them!
im still palying the edition with the Monster manual with an eye in it, the DM guide with the key ate the back and the PC hand book with he sword and book.
I -HATE- how everything's so limited to "you can do 4 things per battle before relying on your little 1d6 generic at will powers."
That's the biggest problem... No one will ever kill the Tarrasque in 4 rounds, and it will be painfully boring saying "I cast magic missile at it... again..." for another hour.
For melee classes? Yes, it's more "attacking" than doing a particular thing... but you could always build a character around charging with a lance or tripping with a spiked chain or whatnot. They completely took away the idea of getting an AoO when someone aproaches you when you have a reach weapon. No more flurry of blows... no monks at all. No multiple attacks per round... I mean... we still have rangers with 2 weapon prof.... but they can only attack with one at a time... wtf?
The Tarrasque probably isn't a good example, since it's really high up there. At least one gets to keep shooting magic missile as a wizard instead of burning away all the spells and having to poke it with a dagger. I've played a few sessions, and there ARE drawbacks to the powers, but not ones you'd expect, at least in my experience.
There is a bit of ingenuity that's encouraged in battle, although it's up to the DM as to how much you can get away with that isn't in the mechanics, of course.
I think the point of the Tarrasque is that it is supposed to be nearly indestructable. It's more fun trying to stop it from destroying the next village instead of battling it head to head.
Not everyone wants to play a dragonman! I would rather play a gnome. I don't want to play a demonman either. I'm not even going to mention rules. You guys screwed up one of the greatest games in the world at the expense of your long time fans. And for what? To appeal to the MMO playing teens who like video games and think that the best movies are those based on comic books. That may be a good business choice, but I guess time will tell if bringing in new blood out weighs the old crew. Good Luck.
sooo,I have to fork over another 35$ to get more PC races and class?will they gave us more monsters like the Golems,Giants, good Dragons,Centaurs,Pegasus,Dinosaus,Dire Animals and just plain normal Animals in another Monster Manual instead of half-tought out new ones?(with no background i might add)
so hoping you don't drown when your boat sinks while casting Water Walk as a 10 minutes ritual...
i dont have a problem with hats. i like hats. i own hats. what i DONT like, is HIS hat. I'm sure he would have a much easier time with the whole "being taken seriously" thing if he didnt wear that ridiculous fedora.
Everything I have seen about 4ed. smacks of two things...
1. It is more roll-playing than role-playing
2. It is pen and paper World of Warcraft
Both of of these observations kill the game for me because I don't care for WoW and I really don't care for games that pander to vid-game zombified teens with no ability to use their imaginations i.e. dumbed down.
I don't agree. I played in 2nd edition also for a long time, and as much as I loved it I was happy to see the game evolve. Could they evolution be better?...yes but they are trying and there are some things in 3.5 and some things in 4 that make the game better for me. But you are intitled to your opinion.
Gnome, goblin, half orc, drow and... s... no idea. Gnome and half orc 'cause they're the nixed races; drow because they have the fanboys. I'll probably run 3x 'cause it's what I know and what I do well, but I'll happily play 4e if it does Eberron well. We'll see.
remember that, unfortunatelly and because of market contetition, this 4E will be more similar to WOW than any other edition released in the past. 4E sucks! Just play the old conservative DnD, where creating a kick ass character was a challenge: without 1000 prestige classes, 300 feats, 30 races and 23 classes... keep it simple, keep it fun
I do agree with the simple is fun coment, But lets wait to see if 4E does really suck before completly dismissing it. Try not to have a bias against the game before you try it or it will be like a task to play it, not an enjoyable experiance.
this isnt a realistic list for phb II races, but i think it would be fun.

I hate the 3.5 and 4th ed take on halflings, halflings are short, fat and happy, not 3 ft elves.
I hate that elevs are like short slender humans too, elves should definately be taller than humans.

You're confusing halflings with hobbits, and I have never heard of elves as being taller than humans. Also, your spelling is atrocious.
