I saw them live at BFD, summer before the Californication CD released...it was a wild experience. The guitarist had just returned to the band, and the guy had this look in his eye. I swear he was on acid because it was a very distinct/unique look.

@rhymeswitreezon IMO their debut album is the bomp! its just so... juvenile and fried-out. anyways i think they got a lot more serious after Hillel's death. lot of people think it was frusciante that changed their sound, but if anything i think he was the wildest one during that period. i think it had more to do with Anthony's lyrics becoming darker and a funky punk sound just didnt seem to be appropriate for that kind of subject matter.i dont think they changed that much just sorta grow up.
