  • Nice

  • How come I sometimes can't hear a drone on some uilleann pipes videos and sometimes I can? (btw, I've watched about 15 videos so far and this is one of my favourites)

  • Maybe in some of the videos they haven't turned the drones on.

  • uilleann pipers have the option to turn the drones off if they want (idk y they would want 2 though)

  • @because88 Probably because they have the drones turned off

  • interesting popping strap

  • Just beautiful! Keep up the good work!

  • god bless u,,you make great music,,,touching people,,,souls..

  • Ur 'D' finger is a bit scwint but keep it up ur playing is really good

  • errrm....on the uilleann pipes, D is played with the left thumb, not by any of the fingers....so I suspect you don't actually play the uilleann pipes, lol ;-)

  • But but... I play the back D with my right thumb. ;)

  • this sounds lovely, but to spend $5000-$7000 to sound lovely is more than I can afford I'm afraid! lol! You need to tighten the reed bridle a bit I think..

  • I play the bassoon! I don't want to hear any complaining about the cost of instruments. ;P

  • umm, a Bassoon costs about half of the price of a good set of Uilleanns

  • Mine was $8,600 and is considered an intermediate instrument. They go all the way up to $50,000. :P

  • wow, you got jipped! I have sen them in Mars music for about $2900

  • You get what you pay for, really, and it really depends on who makes them. The cheap bassoons by Lark that you see on eBay a lot are terrible and like to do things like fall apart... The least you can expect to pay for a bassoon that's actually worth playing is around $4000.

I actually once got to try a B.H. Bell, which is a $32,000 instrument, and believe me; I would have gladly payed every penny of that. It was that good.

  • Hi Lennyou812: The reed bridle was fine. The sound recording on the video camera perhaps was not!

  • I can guess where he must've learned this version of road to lisdoonvarna from. Sounds about like the way Paddy Moloney plays it.

  • Conert pitch D? or is it B, Bb, C or maybe C#?

  • Sounds like D to me, but what do I know? :P

  • Just noticed that it says that it's in the pitch of D right in the beginning of the clip :P

  • oh, ya. duh :P

  • Great.. thanks !!

  • i haven't a musical bone in my body, but if i could play anything it'd be the pipes

  • GReat! And what reels are these :-) ??

  • Ohw wait, I see the names at the end :P

  • First one sounds like Road to Lisdoonvarna played as a reel. Not sure about the second.

  • Oops! They're at the end of the clip. Second is Tomeen O'Dea's.

  • road to lisdoonvarna ia a reel anyway so wat u mean played as a reel?

  • I, as well as others, also play is as a slip jig. Sounds great both ways.

  • It can be played as a slip jig as well. It sounds great both ways, depending on how you feel that day:)

  • A slip jig? I know it as a slide >_>...

  • nice fingering

  • who made the set of pipes ?

    very nice sound !

  • Wow...what a great set of pipes!! How long did you have to wait for your set? I have ordered a Rogge set myself and I am still waiting...

  • fantastic...whos the maker of the beautiul pipes?

  • Andreas Rogge of Tubungen in Germany

  • Very nice!

  • nice job!!i enjoyed it.thanks for posting,nice set!
