No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
I´m afraid of the lyric, because it talks about the end of the world. I didn´t know, because I´m not good with metaphors, so I read in a web page. But I like the song very much haha XP
These lyrics are biblical references, but don't scare it don't speak about the end of the world but the end of a time and the comin of the Reign of God.
its top of the pops uk summer 81, most bands mimed, the bunnymen and u2 played live on it though in jan 83, playing the cutter and u2 did new years day.
dont think so,bono mightn,t admit but fire was put out by the record company to boost sales, the bad were hot at the time, aying that u2 have a couple of hundred songs to rival fire!!
But it is exactly the same version as the one on the Boy album, isn't it? I'm a huge U2 fan and it's hard for me to believe that Bono is singing playback, but look at his mouth at 2:12 - "there's a fire in me" and we can hear "there's a fire inside".
hehe thats cool. The edge's playing just reminds me of geordie white...but its seperated by a step (White plays a whole step down from standard). Plus killing joke had an album called fire dances...hehe ah well
imedi is right, kite (my favorite song), in a little while, a man and a woman, and maybe even City of Blinding Lights are right up there with the old classics and hidden gems. red hill mining town and staring at the sun are so good but not well known.
October is a completely underrated album. Like Bono said at their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in '05, "Can you imagine--the difficult second album--it's about God?" For 20- and 21-year olds, what more could you ask for? Well done, boys.
This is the first U2 song I ever heard and I've been hooked since. It was their first UK hit and had the odd distinction of being the first single ever to go down the charts in the week after they appeared on Top of the Pops. I think this is the performance.
In my humble opinion U2 started to go down hill not long after this rarely capturing the excitement that the early stuff had in abundance. It is slightly uncool to like U2 nowadays I defy anyone to watch this era and not be overwhelmed by the sheer class of it all
This song is one of my favs from the October album, I was born in that month, 1982. I got the remastered version of October the other day from BestBuy. It's awesome! Also got the new version, as the sticker says, of War. Got the remastered version of Joshua Tree last year as well. Will the Unforgettable Fire be next? I surely hope so
Wow! some kindred spirits! I've seen interviews where The Edge will imply this to be a weak album...It's their best and the eighty's stuff is potent and satisfying.
I LOVE THIS SONG TO DEATH! Bono used to be such a SUPER ULTRA MEGA HOTT BABE!! I think "October" is one of their better albums. I love anything 80's of theirs, and their 2000 - now. Their 90's music is trash, in my opinion. They were weird in the 90's.
Every band in history has a decline. The elite bands that disband when they were big did it at the right time. Beatles and Police just to name a couple. U2 should have done it after Zooropa. Who talks about their work after that? U2 are just taking their time now recording. They put out a CD every 5 years should manifest something to everyone.
So one talks about the two albums, All That You Can't Leave Behind and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, that won them more Grammys than any of their other albums? If they had stopped after Zooropa, younger fans wouldn't have got the chance to be exposed to these older songs. No Beautiful Day? No Vertigo? Their best stuff is still ahead of them.
Are you serious? All That You Can't Leave Behind from '00 won some grammies and is considered a classic. Their last one was good, too. Must I state the old saying, think before you speak?
yeah, Gloria is my most favorite video of all times and this is very classic U2. Nobody like them, it's the passion behind this album that is singular, even among the U2 repretoir at large
@Popmart This is a UK version of MTV where the put on "concerts" lots of bands did it like xtc just to name some other. but basically it was supposed to be like a music video so they lip sync everything which is why it sounds identical to the track

A bit of pointless trivia but apparently, this appearance on Top of the Pops turned Noel Gallagher into a big U2 fan.

I think too. I sounds EXACTLY as the studio version and at 2:10, Bono doesn't sing what we hear.
Bono is so shy on this video ! He doesn't know what to do with his arms ! Best band ever and forever <3
