as a political scientist I can no longer ignore this form of ignorance. There are different forms of democracies. A Republic is one of them. So essentially you said "America is a democracy, not a democracy." Doesn't make any sense. We are a constitutional republic. This means everyone has rights as well as being able to choose leadership that will represent us. A Republic is great in this sense as it allows decision making to happen a lot faster than a direct democracy.

depends the US has a presidential system whereas other representative democracies use a parliamentary system. Both have their distinct advantages and disadvantages. What is happening in the US pretty much has happened in other countries before. Not an indication that the format doesn't work, an indication that our democracy has gotten corrupt, and disconnected from the average citizen. The citizens in this case are to blame. This is the advantage to democracy over autocracy.

We recognize that we must abide by them and hold each other accountable, and we realize that laws are made to protect us all. We happen to have both as a check and balance system. So i guess if you want a law passed and you get the number of votes for your position your own laws can be used against you
