  • unfortunately we can't have a dog in the block.

  • and I have mouse called Perry. LOL how these programs effect our reality.

  • I live in a block of flats too, now how funny is that.

  • I loved this show as a very young child. Midge was my favourite. I've got a good memory.

  • Wow. I can't believe I use to wait eagerly fot his to come on. I remember their faces so well..like they are burned into my childhood consciousness.

And that voice...sounds like Richard Baker. And very old fashioned.

  • @JasonJason210 Wow yes, I was just like months old when this was shown but can remember it vividly and the Clangers.

  • Ahh, good memories!

  • mary mongo, and midge, where a young time of my life it just took me away to another world.

  • mary mongo, and midge, where a young time of my life it just took me away.

  • This show is by the same producers as Capt. Pugwash eh ? . Anyone remember Sir Prancelot ?

  • Lovely programme; this is how children's programmes should be made. Of course if this was made today; Mary would be a coloured, dissabled lesbian gay from a family of asylum seekers.

  • What a pleasure to watch this again after so many years, brilliant!

  • OMG MY CHILDHOOD!

  • our band is named after this cartoon

  • the streets have riots, and looters, and hoodies and, and ,and

  • one of my fav tv programs from childhood memories.

  • If this was now,Mary would be on the game with wild half Jamaican kids and a drugged crazed pimp Winston, who checks on here every 5 minutes and her perents would be stabbed and mugged,Tv and DVD would be sold and it would stink of piss and shit of their mongrel dog and a pile of skiddy pants in the corner festering away with rice & peas tubs on the carpet!!

    Socail decay -

Thanks Thatcher for everything....... or nothing but a nation full of fat thick chavs watching X-factor and Sun readers!

  • @lakmeister man hav u bin sneakin into my flat

  • @Maxshard True but that cunt Thatch started it!!!! the rest had to follow such as the damage done, look at us now, can't speak or read and write anymore, just text speak!!!! No skilled people about, all fucked off abroad

A few got richer and the rest are totally fucked and it will get worse yet!!!!

  • @lakmeister Blair and new labour didnt help much either or callaghan before thatcher!

  • @MaryMungoAndMidge1 Like it was how it is now, some idiots all so fucked up,they deny anything!!!

Nothing worse than a tory in a debate, always right and things are always better under them, open your eyes you moron, not just looking at your bank balance!!!!!! Like James callaghan was ever like that cunt thatch!!!!

And Blair followed that cunt,so it was fucked up before it started with private enterprise and everything sold of so some smug cunt could make a few £££'s - con the poor, Brilliant !!!

  • @lakmeister if you must know, i don't support any main political party, no matter who is in power we always get stiched up, whether its tory or labour.

  • @MaryMungoAndMidge1 well fasten your seatbelt,it got got worse boss!!!

  • @lakmeister Amazing how EVERY fuckin' post on Youtube is invariably turned into an argument involving Labour v Tory ; you name it , Top Of The Pops, Wimbledon tennis, The Clangers....

  • I do believe this is the reason I started playing the flute! Funny this somehow seemed so much more sophisticated when I was 5.

  • You wouldn't see a Gollywog in a kids program today!

  • Kids tv programmes are rubbish these days......... not that I, er, watch them, you understand.

  • I use to watch this when I was little.

Great to see, thanks for posting.

  • Every notice how old stuff you watched as a kid, had a feeling that you couldn't quite put your finger on, like christmas (eg mr ben, old mr men). Looking at todays CGI (computer generated Imagery),i think kids are missing out on something,or is it me getting old. When the grandkids come along will see if they like them...

  • @StinkingHobo It's only "au revoir" if you're planning on coming back. You must be a sucker for punishment!

  • fab

  • Buses is spelled 'BUSES'.

  • loved this as a child. Lucky to have been young then and not now.

  • This was one of my favourite programmes, loved little midge standing on mungos nose to press the lift button hahaha ..... Good times!!

  • wow I watched this when I was a kids, first time Ive see this in 30 years, thanks for the up !

  • @StinkingHobo Tom and Jerry wasn't made as a kid's show originally - it was shown first at movie theatres alongside films for grown-ups (nearly put "adult films" lol). Mary, Mungo and Midge was made to entertain and educate very young children. I loved it. I also loved Tom and Jerry when I was a bit older.

  • Couldn't work out what was different about it now.........it's in colour.

  • From when the times were more simple.Biggest problem i had was wether the double decker would fit between sofa and lamp table. Now for Hectors House.

  • how posh is this lol

  • I think that's the very last tune a mouse would want to play on a flute considering the lyrics.

  • , it was all so simple back then. This is great, haunting theme tune, its so comforting watching this, use to watch this after school, glass of milk and a custard cream in hand, my tastes dont change through the years im 48, its quite relevant today with the tower blocks. My daughter 7 yrs old thinks its rubbish, shes more interested in Bratz Hannah montana

  • This is fabulous. Thank you for posting it.

  • Mary has a politically incorrect toy. Do you know which one it is, children?

    (I've made myself laugh now)

    :-D

  • @BuzbyWuzby you're thinking along the mary , mungo and minge line arent you lol

  • This kid would have been taken into care and the animals off to the 'gasbox' at the RSPCA....wheres their parents ???

  • I used to love this cartoon (Im 44 too) all I could remember was a block of flats and a mouse standing on a dogs nose to press the buttons so had to find an episode to watch to remind me pmsl its all coming back now the mouse on the flute hahahaha loved Hectors House too gonna watch it next lol

  • im 44 years of age and actually remember watching this episode at nursery

  • Richard Baker is the voice?

  • @Merton32 Yes, it's the newseader Richard Baker. He also narrated Teddy Edward.

  • Victor Meldrew sounding voice?

  • Bastards - I still don't know what colour Midge prefers! Is it red, yellow or blue?

  • @ashleighbo This comment made me titter hugely. Thank you.

  • Great childhood memories, did anyone else spot the Gollywog. Wouldn't be allowed now.

  • as a child i loved this .wow how the cartoons have changed .lol.

  • "What they haven't been told is that their home will be condemned a few years from now as recent findings meant that all the asbestos plays havoc with the respiratory systems in children, dogs and mice..."

  • oh such happy memories i do recall oh please do give me back my childhood once more

  • I hate when people do these kind of shitty entertainment thinking children would watch any crap as long as it colorful and pansy

  • @Chemazan I loved this as a small child ok a dated and slow but maybe you have to have an imagination like children do. small children don't mind 'pansy' either - that's adults. 70's tv was the best - do you think children only respond to fast-paced rambo macho angry pixar stuff?

  • can't believe the shit animation from those days

  • Innocent times, but I guess todays TV will look innocent to todays children

  • Brings back so many childhood memories lol

  • Here were the municipalities of the future, and this was "public information" to teach your children about it. The state would provide a modern flat in a high tower block - with spacious green land between you and the next high-rise, and "large, sunny rooms" for your children to play in. You'd send them down to the friendly greengrocers to get spuds for tea. You trusted people to keep an eye on them. No one suggested they'd be raped by paedophiles or mugged by street gangs if they went out.

  • Didn't work out. Bankers buy your house, now, and sell it back at extortionate rates: a tiny plastic matchbox in some Tesco-built estate; the "playroom" is where Dad watches Sky Sports or plays Grand Theft Auto. The greengrocer was put out of business by an out-of-town mall financed by some giant corporation (as were the butcher, hardware store and mechanic). The papers terrify you that your kids will die if you don't drive them. The only thing you trust is your credit card. Thanks, New Labour.

  • @EricColvin Absolutely true!

  • Ha, nice racist doll at 2:00 in. Stay classy Britain.

  • I just can't believe this is here. It's amazing to see this stuff now... Thanks so much.

  • Thank you SOOOO much for this!! Takes me back years!!

  • I was really enjoying that!

  • omg haven't seen this in years . only got to see if i was off school sick . god happy childhood memories .... thx for showing it

  • that drumming at 5.19 is almost the same as the start of sympathy for the devil!! i remember watching this in 1971!! cant believe they only made 13 episodes - seems like it went on forever! these days they'd take the stairs as the lift in the tower block would be vandalised and be smelling of piss!!

  • I used to watch this as a kid all the time on my watch with mother VHS, this made me nostalgia so much

  • My fav as a young child too!

  • A wesome, love the music, shame no has the music to the lift squence

  • Used to be one of my favourite chidren's programs

  • i used to run home at lunch time to see this,it brings back so such of my chilhood.

its a same there nothing on todays tv for kids..

it proves the old things are the best

10 out of 10 for this upload..

  • To add to the comment left by lonelywolf1966 I have to say that I too used to watch this and have really happy memories of this. In fact I think I rented this from one of the online dvd rental places and prob watched it when i'd had a bottle or 2.... Maybe I timeshifted it to a D...... well.... but as the OP says in his/her precis.. "Wonderfully dated" is a marvellous description! I may add that to my calling card, should I ever have one printed!

  • omg!!! i can remember watching this with my mum when i was really young...... i loved it..... arrghhh i still dooo!!!! midge is the best!!!!!
